  1. I've been a long time fan of 94 and haven't ever participated in a league before(hope to soon!), but reading these threads is hilarious to the casual observer like myself. To be a champion, you gotta beat the best, and the OP failed plain and simple. He doesn't have what it takes to be a champion. Stop trolling and work on your game bro. Someone beat you...study up and get to work and beat that person. Whoever beat you is better than you....admit it and move on. Patriots lost super bowls to eli manning. That pissed Tom Brady off to become the greatest many years later. Tom Brady beat the Seahawks and redeemed himself and became the GOAT. Stop crying and work on your game, you'll feel better when you beat that person whoever you lost to.
  2. Whoa sharks just missed like the upset of the decade. SJ nets 41 goals (6 goals/game) and still lose? I wanna hear more about this. The mystique of Montreal lives on I guess
  3. so did you get the Reebok pumps? There is a mystique about them. Maybe you can come back from 3-1 with them on
  4. Someone givin away Detroit???!!!! Talk about the gift of the millenium! Whoever that was=Mother Theresa II
  5. South Carolina--- Get the heck out of there my man. Time lost is brain lost
  6. Mike Vernon has to be up there. Calgary misses the top tier for me b/c of their shaky goaltending. Calgary is a fun team to play against b/c the scoring comes so easily.
  7. Sorry for bringin up an old thread, but where was Garry Bettman on this one? Highway robbery at its finest
  8. I gotta go with Brian Leetch. While not the greatest checker, he seems to always be in the right spot at the right time. Not sure if he's a shutdown defender or those exist in nhl94, as I believe the video game favors the offense. How many times do you think you have a breakway when Leetch is there to ruin that hope?
  9. Looks like it's gonna probably be mtl vs van in gens A finals and buf vs det in gens b finals Based on results, these are the best teams in the gm!
  10. That save at 9:00 minutes was unreal. Seemed like no one could hold onto the puck until the very end of the gm!
  11. We've got people makin 6 figures on this site, lol?!! A guy comes home, there's his lobster dinner waitin for him at the table, and then...... there's NHL 94
  12. Don't be hatin on Joe Juneau! Without Juneau, the Bruins would be quite a dull unit offensively. I always thought that offensive awareness determines a player's one timer ability. Correct me if I'm wrong, but offensive awareness specifies a player's ability to cut to the net when your team is leading a fast break, and Juneau is usually in the 70-80s in this category...pretty good. Maybe you were just having bad luck with Juneau...he aint Sandstrom, but he's the man in boston
  13. Totally agree with you about Eklund and where to make him most effective The disadvantage I think with putting a lefty player on the right wing(or a righty on the LW) is you minimize his deking ability, unless you are particular skilled at fallaway floaters, like you mentioned. Sandstrom is awesome on the right wing with his right shoulder facing the net because he is a tremendous shooter and can hit the tight angle shots or narrow windows. But can you find the spacing on the ice to nail the shot without a defender hitting you ? That's the challenge and also getting the shot off before the opposing manual goalie activates. I think the question of whether to put a player on RW or LW comes down to agility and shot power. If the player doesn't have a great shot but has great agility, like Lafontaine or in this case Eklund, put him at the wing that matches his handedness. This way you maximize a players deke capabilities, because floater shots are not high percentage in my book. My 2 cents
  14. Hmmm sorry to hear that man. I am kind of puzzled, why is he the only one who can log the game and not you? I think blitz league is run where the winner logs the score just in case the loser just runs off like a coward. I would think there would be lots of drama in a league where only one person can log it. You kicked his rear plain and simple, you should be able to log the scores.
  15. LEAST CLUTCH dale hawerchuck--i don't know if you can call him unclutch, b/c no one expects him to do a darn thing! curtis joseph--maybe the most overrated goalie in the gm, along with barrasso brett hull--can't make a move on the ice to get in position for his otherwise lethal shot jaromir jagr--talk about a guy who got screwed in this video gm! MOST CLUTCH and underrated players Klima--the puck is a magnet on his stick Savard--great deker, gives me fits knocking him down
  16. fun read... never knew who Martin Straka and Petrovicky were until reading this....and Reichel with 113 goals, isn't he a bench player? that coaach has to be insanely good to get that number i can hardly score with him anyways. The guy who scores with Sanderson has to be redonculous too. 50 percent shot % is a roenick like number.
  17. I always feel that making substitutions before a gm and sticking with that line is the best way to go...rather than constantly tweaking it during the game, I think it disrupts chemistry of the team. Playing with a deep team like Calgary, Quebec or MTL can mess with your brain and not let you play your best hockey. Since there so many guys to substitute in the gm, you feel compelled to give everyone a chance to play, you never know what the best lineup is, sometimes you just overmanage and forget you just gotta play the gm. By the time you figure it out, you may be losing the gm.
  18. My top 5: 1. detroit 2. chicago 3. winnipeg 4. buffalo 5. vancouver Surprised to see no love for Winnipeg! Buffalo and Winnipeg are almost interchangeable for me in the 3 spot. Mogilny is one of the best players in this game, but the majority of the scoring has to come from him it seems for Buffalo to be successful. Lafontaine and Hawerchuck are weak shooters with great skating and elite passing--they do more dancing than scoring it seems--they should audition for Dancing with the stars. Plus who does Buf have on D outside of Svoboda? Winnipeg seems to have the complete team. A top 5 forward, a top 5 goalie, and a top 5 defenseman(or top 10). Excellent shooters in Selanne and Davydov. Bautin and Numminen are solid defenders I think. Davdydov is a tough cover off the left wing for any defense. Zhamnov is a great passer and has good stick handling Montreal=Toronto on steroids!
  19. So how have the predictions turned out so far? this was a great read. If this league is still goin on, put me down for 1$ for beavers and throw in some swedish kronas that I couldn't convert back into US dollars from my Europe trip. 50,000/1? talk about value! In order to get something, you have to give up something!
  20. LOOOL I'm not a drafting guru by any means, but how on earth did Chris Chelios make a top 5 pick? He's a good defenseman, but in a weight fixed rom, his weight advantage is pretty neutral I would expect. Do commishs ever veto picks/trades if they are horrible or yield unfair compensation for a party?
  21. Based on what the roster info for SJ says here http://nhl94.com/html/teamprofile.php?team=SJ the Sharks have a high road ice advantage. Their home ice advantage is average. Go figure.
  22. The home ice vs road ice thing in nhl94 has always been a great mystery to me. Is it a great advantage to be at home or not? I hopefully will have the time to get into a lg soon. I checked the classic standings and it's fascinating that EVERY A league team has a losing record on the road or worse numbers on the road compared to home. Is it true that road teams are more sluggish than they are at home? Or guys like mogilny are a tad slower on the road or their slap shots are less effective? Do teams check better at home? I've always wondered this--based on what I see from the standings, it's quite evident that home teams are at an advantage.
  23. I think I’m posting in the right thread hehe--i used to play lots of nhl94 back in da day, not much online obviously--but i gotta say SJ is MUCH better than ottawa and anaheim. SJ has a great home ice advantage and you can ride that wave when the crowd is rocking. Falloon I think is an allstar--although I would like to wager no one in the history of the world has ever substituted for him on ASW roster! Berezan has some agility that won’t make people jealous, but can get up and down the ice. Wilson I believe has quite a shot on D. How bad is SJ's record, lol? Has anyone won a playoff series with Ottawa or anaheim in the history of nhl94.com? These teams are automatic losses against Chicago and Detroit, esp against top notch players. I would find it hard to believe these expansion rosters can win 5 games in a 50 game season or whatever it is. These teams should be banned I would think, lol. Poor OP!
  24. 1. H. Van Smeiter for Holland in FIFA 95 for Sega 2. any team playing against Qatar in FIFA 95 and their sad goalkeeper was unstoppable. You could score from midfield against Qatar 3. Canseco for RBI Baseball 4. Emmit Smith in Madden 94
  25. The best bench players in 94-- in no particular order: 1. Denis Savard 2. Evgeny Davydov 3. Craig Simpson 4. Valeri Kamenski 5. Pelle Eklund 6. Joe Murphy 7. Ted Donato 8. Gord Hynes 9. Trevor Linden 10. Kovalenko
