Probably would make sense to start over as icestorm, fpb, etc are not here anymore. Lay out the rules ahead of time and set up a draft format. The last dynasty attempt seemed to be on the fly, including the draft. Maybe VC had plans, but nobody knew wtf was going on. Dynasty is a great concept, but definitely needs strong management and dedicated players.

I didn't know you could change the penalty time...that's cool! I wonder why nobody ever thought about scaling back the penalties for a 5 min period in other ROMs? A 2 minute penalty would be okay in a 20 min period, but since we play 5 minute periods, I would think the penalty time should be scaled back to 30 seconds. Fighting from 5 to 1:15. EDIT: I just read a few threads discussing this very idea.

I never bet against the current champ...and I'm getting underdog odds! * DAL/KingRaph PK. I hope I fkin win. lol In B, TOR/Wookie in 4. Record setting season by TOR. Messier and Co. are scary. While Robbie may win a game, I'm betting on the sweep. TB/Sicarius in 5. A great season, overshadowed by TOR. I love this team's balance of speed (Ronning), power (C. Lemieux), shot (Roberts), and goalie (Belfour)! WPG/eggink in 7. A coin-flip for me. The regular season were all close games...should be a great series. eggink threw a '94 Rager in his backyard, so the '94 gods on his side. QUE/kupuck in 6. No idea, but kupuck just beat me 3 out of 4 in '13, so I go with him. It's a one man show in Mogilny vs spread of Linen/Oates/Eklund. Looking forward to seeing how this all plays out! I used the Microsoft Sidewinder controller when I first started (Spring'11 Classic). It's not bad, pretty comfortable. My only complaint is the D-Pad is too small and rounded and it makes it more difficult to nail those hard diagonal stops (when the skater hits the brakes) without having him turn around. I think I used it for the whole season, and then switched to the retrousb cable/Genesis controller combo.

Final bet on which defensive tandem racks up most PIM: 1. Stevens (34) / Murphy (42) = 76 (IceStorm) 2. Manson (30) / Tinordi (36) = 66 (ProBob) 3. Desjardins (24) / Chelios (34) = 58 (Robbie) 4. McSorley (36) / Featherstone (20) = 56 (KingRaph) I came in last...which is good, I guess. . What's crazy is that McSorely had 56 PIM in season 06 by himself (I was also the coach). Which defensive pairing led the league in PIM? That goes to James Patrick and Richard Smehlik of the NYR (BoKnows), who led the league with 84 combined penalty minutes. A close 2nd was Doug Zmolek and Phil Housley from VAN (wookie) with 82. Least penalized? Lidstrom/Iafrate on Philly (Carse), with 36.

That 6-button SEGA you have pictured above is my controller of choice. Comfortable size, tight d-pad, 6-buttons, made-to-last quality! It's the one I'd recommend to people who play with controllers. The standard 3-button controller feels enormous now, but I do like the d-pad on that one too. It'd probably be my second choice, but lacking 6-buttons is a problem with some of the new ROMS with "Y" button goalie hacks. There's a 6-button with turbo that looks similar, but the d-pad is too loose and it just feels funny.

Not once...but I did get really thirsty afterwards and had to buy more water.

Nice write-up! I like all your predictions except for CHI . I'll take DAL in 7. Interesting note - the A league has only had 2 teams finish their regular season with 3 players scoring over 100 points. Both happened this season with CHI (Muller/Turgeon/Ruzicka) and DAL (Selanne/Neely/Sanderson). FYI, CHI (Zalex) also accomplished this in season 04 (Roenick/Modano/Ruzicka) in the B league.

LOL. Great imagery there. Yeah, NYR tough team for sure...however, swos went 21-19 with them in Fall'11 (http://www.nhl94online.com/html/standings.php?lg=10&sublg=GENS-A) in a very loaded A league! So maybe there's hope yet! I also like Amonte as a substitute for Messier. Check out AJ's write up if you haven't already for some other ideas. Good luck, I hope you stick with it!

The finals are set for Survivor Season 02! In a whirlwind of activity these last two days, Freydey took the opening series from da94wookiee in 6 games (game summaries here) to advance to the semi-finals vs Kupuck. The series was tied 2-2, and then Frey managed to hold wookie to just 3 goals in the last two games (he averaged 4.83 GF in the regular season). Great season by wookiee, a tough draw to face Freydey in the first round, who also beat wookie in season 01 on his way to the championship. Shortly following that performance, Freydey edged out Kupuck in a 7 game series to advance to the finals for a second straight year! It looked like an exciting series as Kupuck went up 3 games to 1 after 4 (see link to summaries above). However, Freydey roared back to win the next three. Frey chose the NYI for game 7, and Kupuck tried to knock him out with PIT, believed to be one of the best teams, if not THE best, in weight-bug fixed GENS/SNES, but Frey held them off to win the series. Great series, great season Ku! So the final will be Freydey vs kingraph (who also had an extremely close 7 game semi-final vs Plabax!). Freydey knocked out kingraph in 5 games in Season 01, but thay have not squared off in weight bug fixed classic as they missed their regular season matchup. Let's make it a good one!

Back to '94: Alexei Kovalev was by far the most exciting and talented player on the New York Rangers (his rookie year). It was the time when Russians first starting really playing in the NHL and his skill level was off the charts. He was doing things I've never seen before (spin-o-rama, sick dekes, etc.). He was a rookie, so his ice time was limited, especially with powerhouses like Messier, Graves, Larmer, etc. on the team. But make no mistake, when #27 hit the ice, everyone in the Garden was on the edge of their seats. No doubt about it.

I too have been having problems with AIM the last two weeks. I've had to change my password like 5-6 times...quite annoying because I have to wait 15 minutes to sign back on. It sucks because I'm usually trying to get some games in. I emailed them...its been okay the last few days. Still, super annoying.
