  1. I can understand scheduling conflicts, but I get more upset a lack of information. I don't care how busy you are, I'm sure you have 5 minutes to log into the forums/PM to say, "hey, I'm tied up this week, vacation, whatever" just to let your opponent, and everyone else, know that this is being worked out. In particular for playoff series. And if you really are THAT busy that you don't have 5 minutes, I'd question why you signed up in the first place. Having said that, flasox did play his games and communicate before the forums blew up...not sure why he went MIA this past month. Hopefully it's nothing serious.
  2. 23 GP this week (8%), bringing us up to 102GP, an average of 14.6 per person. If you are significantly below that, please try to get some games in this week, and if you are around or above, thanks getting this season moving! Team Standings Houli continues to be in the lead in the West division with 40 points (30-10), with Freydey, RedWingDevil and dcicon left to play. Da94wookiee made a push this past week playing 12 games and vaulting into the #2 spot with a 13-6 record (26pts). This is projecting to be a close battle for the division title between these two. Will be interesting to see what Freydey does once he gets up an running (I believe he's on vacay). In the East, kingraph climbed into the lead with a 13-3 (36pts) record so far. Alonzi41sits in the second spot with a 10-8 record. BoKnows, IceStorm, RWD and dcicon all have the ability to make a run for the top, but have played an average of 7 games each between the 4 of them. I hope to see the action pick up this week, for those 4 in the East in particular. In other news -- with the launch of ronsbar.org (thanks wookie!), I'd like to incorporate a goal or play of the week if possible. There are two ways I suggest you can get your highlights recorded if you don't know how to already: 1 - hit the "record game" button before each game to create a krec file (see smozoma's tutorial on recording movies). You don't have to worry about converting the krec and/or processing the movie if you're not comfortable. You can simply send me the krec file with a note on what goal/play I should looking for in the playback (i.e. my 2nd goal, my opponents 1st goal, a crazy play around 2 mins in the 3rd, etc.) and I'll take care of the rest. 2 - if you are using the gensnetplaysave.exe emulator, you can hit F5 RIGHT AFTER the play to create a savestate file (then hit F6 to change the slot). That file will be in the same directory as your ROM. The files end with .gs0, .gs1, .gs2 with the last number being the slot it was recorded. It's the same method used for leagues with game uploads and stats. For example, if you were in slot 1 to start, when you hit F5, a file called survivor_S02.gs1 will be created. The slot is not important, only that you change it so you don't overwrite your previous save. You can then send me the savestate file and I'll process the video as an instant replay. This only works if the play was about 20 seconds or less (NHL'94 time -- about 7 seconds of real time). Should be fun if we get a few submissions! Good luck!
  3. If you like 2on2, the latest ROMs have the ability to edit lines without crashing. I believe this was a more recent upgrade as the regular 2on2 ROM crashes when you edit lines.
  4. CAMAN man...you told me you'll be ready "in 20 mins" around 11:30. Then at 1 am you said, "brb, gotta dl hamachi". Then I get a text at 2am..."ready"...2.5 hours after you said "20 mins". Next time just say "no".
  5. I saw the offsets for the home team (post #9), but not the away for GENS. Does anyone have it handy, or is it in another thread I can't seem to find? Edit: I found it myself
  6. lol, it's actually not as bad as it sounds...though it probably did add up to like 2 hours of time.
  7. Keeping me honest! FYI, to do this, I took a savestate every 15 seconds or so (length of instant replay is close to 20 seconds) through the whole game. Lots of savestates, lol. I then loaded each state in order and checked the player stats. Once I saw a check registered, I did the instant replay on that player. The player totals also tie out. So I guess this also serves as a proof that the checks by player stat works fine.
  8. It's actually 5 injuries for 10 penalty minutes. So here's the projected totals for Injuring, Charging, Slashing, Roughing and Cross-checking (ignores hooking, tripping, interference and holding) and the second number is the difference from total: Manson/Tinordi - 52 (11) McSorley/Featherstone - 47 (5) Stevens/Murphy - 31 (38) Chelios/Desjardin - 29 (29) The big drop was in Stevens/Murphy and Chelios/Desjardin as they have a bunch of hooking and holding penalties. I wonder if this is more of a reflection of using the "A" button. I rarely, if ever, use it on defense. Perhaps Ice and Robbie use this more?
  9. Just for fun, I clipped all the checks from one game I had vs. Houly to see how it would look in a quick highlight reel. It was 43 checks, currently tied for the most in a game for season 07. http://www.blitz94.c...asp?gameid=4323 It's kind of hard to focus as some checks were AI...so look for the yellow markers where the replay was focused if you can. FYI, I LOST that game, lol.
  10. What's crazy is that he's my leading checker -- averaging 8.75 checks a game.
  11. I like the layout a lot! I'm hoping this continues to build up momentum...great job!
  12. Bet update: Taking the PIM/G and projecting to a 44 game finish: Stevens/Murphy - 69 Manson/Tinordi - 63 Chelios/Desjardin - 57 McSorley/Featherstone - 53 Featherstone not racking up PIM as I expected...
  13. wtf... This is a great idea. I'd love to see this happen and I'd be glad to help. My guess is you'd be the editor-in-chief, running the whole thing, but would need contributions from the rest of the community. My concern would be the workload involved in keeping this up weekly. Bi-weekly may be a better place to start. We would also have to get into the habit to hit "record" for every game, so we can process and highlights and/or games for the vids. That'd be a lot of fun.
  14. What did you notice...anecdotal or some other evidence?
  15. It isn't. You can see the formulas in the Blitz spreadsheet (on the bottom of the downloads page): http://www.blitz94.com/downloads.asp While goalies have an offensive awareness attribute, it's not calculated in their overall ratings. When it comes to '94, in smozoma I trust.
  16. In case anyone is confused, here's the context of that Anaheim pic:
  17. We are off and running smoothly in Season 02 with 79 games played out of a total possible 266, or 30%! That's a little over 11 GP on average. Very exciting start to the season! This is expected as there are many options to play (you have 13 opponents to start), so we should see a slow down in the next few weeks. But let's keep it up! I've gotten positive feedback on the website, which I appreciate. I'm also happy to see that the latest games window is working well and that we haven't had any major issues logging games. So extra shout out and thank you to the new guys (Alonzi41, batbl18, & plabax)! Houli has been a beast out in the west division, playing 30 games already and going 20-10! He is currently on top of the division and will try to hold on to that spot for the rest of the season. In the East, Alonzi41 has climbed on top with 20 points, going 10-8 in his first 18 games! Surprisingly, with the expansion to 26 available teams, we have gotten at least 1 game played with every team already! Weak teams such as Anaheim (1), Florida (1), SJ (1), Tampa Bay (4), and Ottawa (3) have been used. Remember, you can finish the season using only 19 of the 26 total available teams as there are only 38 games in the regular season (19 x 2 = 38). Available teams will reset at the start of the playoffs (with some penalties -- see SCHEDULE/PLAYOFFS section in the rules) Great start fellas!
  18. Anyone who has played hundreds of games knows what you're talking about. Certain games are just set up with an advantage for one team vs. another. That's the whole reason people call timeouts, change lines, switch goalies, etc...all an attempt change the flow of the game (none of these methods, afaik, have been proven to work). There's definitely things the AI does during the game that changes the dynamics. When I was practicing to break the "biggest blowout" goals for Twin Galaxies, there was a period of time in every game when the CPU just went into the "NO WAY YOU ARE SCORING" mode. Shots wide, failed one-timers, missed passes, beastly checks from CPU, offensive players skating AWAY from the puck, etc. It's so obvious, and quite laughable when I'm struggling to score a goal using All-Stars West vs Anaheim. I also strongly believe that you are less likely to score the exact same goal the second time around during a game. Either the goalie "learns" or your player doesn't play as well. For example, let's take the slapshot through the 5-hole goal. Do that with the same player and same goalie in one game. I bet the success rate (goals/attempts) of the 1st goal is much higher than the 2nd and subsequent goals (if possible). The goalie will either stop it, or your player will start shooting into the stands. I think this will hold true for just about any kind of goal, within reason. As far as home ice advantage -- every league (classic, blitz, survivor) shows a better home record than away. However, it's unclear whether this is a bias for people who prefer shooting up (twice home) vs down or actual game attributes that favor home. Smozoma mentions some affect on shooting accuracy, etc for home ice and pp/pk advantages. Here's a few links to threads dealing with this topic: Home Ice: http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/12665-home-ice-advantage/page__hl__home Up/Down Survey: http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/4570-do-you-do-better-going-up-or-down/ Smozoma's Hot/Cold bug fix (and explanation): http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/12074-how-to-make-the-edit-lines-ratings-match-the-actual-on-ice-ratings/ At the end of the day, there is no definitive answer as to what causes these momentum swings. It's why you can have scores like 8-0 and then 2-4 in consecutive games with the same teams. When you feel the deck is stacked against you, just try to hold on and ride it out. Perhaps try a timeout, line change, goalie change, etc.
  19. wouldn't voice chat eat up bandwidth and results in laggier play and/or desynchs?
  20. Can we get season 06 playoffs page completed -- game 6 boxscore of "A" and the whole finals series in "B"?
  21. Probably more like in the red, as he is paying hosting fees, website renewal, etc. And thank you for ad-free!
