  1. Oh, I forgot to inform that enrollment closed. Now we have already played season 2. But I will inform when season 3 starts on autumn, so you can enroll to that then.
  2. KOHL season 2: http://koti.kapsi.fi/~kiba/php/KOHL2/champions.php http://koti.kapsi.fi/~kiba/php/KOHL2/trophys.php
  3. Kiba's Original Hockey League Season 2 starts soon. KOHL is coaching league, simmed by NHL95PC. First season statistics: http://koti.kapsi.fi/~kiba/php/KHL/trophys.php We have 9 selected teams for next season, but we are looking for more. One season takes about a month to play. Salary offers to players and lines to games are done by web-client. Joining to our irc-channel is a must. All games will be streamed. Joining to league requires almost daily activity, so dont enroll if you are not ready to share couple of hours from your each day to this. Also, if you are joining to the league, we are expecting that you will take it to end of the season, so no dropouts! If you are interested, contact me by email: kibamail@gmail.com. I will give more instructions then. If anybody have questions, just ask away.
  4. Jason, what editor did you use for editing? I cannot open your files with nhlinfo. When I try to, it crashes.
  5. I have done player attributes for NHL95PC based on season 1980-81. Although I am terrible graphics editor and jersey maker, so I dont think I will ever "release" this as full package. If you want I can send rosters to you. Oh, and season stats are same for all players, so this would make simulate pointless in season mode
  6. I think your comment is worthless But yes, if fighting is a must, NHL95PC is not for you.
  7. I think there is no any AI-tools for NHL95PC. What you are suggesting here requires lot of hacking and as far as I know, nobody is doing it at the moment. I am curious about "AI keeps shooting from center ice and manage to score one too many times", does this really happen very often when you play NHL95PC? Anyhow, I think NHL95PC is not very good choice if you are looking for very realistic gameplay. Later EA NHL versions got tactics and settings for AI, but there is no option for those in NHL95PC. Only option for changing AI is that someone hacks that AI gameplay in future.
  8. What kind of joystick are you trying to use? What does happen in NHL96PC joystick configuration when you try to calibrate it? Did you try to do this with Dosbox?
  9. Just run installation from dosbox, it will make to you nhl.cfg. Also, you could try to go to wayback machine and find nhl95.com
  10. Hello all roster makers! These tools are for NHL95 PC-version exporting and importing. This is not even alpha version of anything, just some tools I wrote to help running my NHL95PC league. These are not tested in any way, so dont risk your important NHL95PC installation. Make new fresh installation of NHL95PC for this one. I dont take any responsability if you mess up your computer by using these tools. Files in this package: - Readme.txt This info file. - gametocsv.exe Export players and goalies names, jersey numbers and attributes from game to attributes.csv file. - csvtogame.exe Import players and goalies names, jersey numbers and attributes from attributes.csv file to game. - attributes.csv CSV file holding importing/exporting information. Files you need from NHL95 PC: - TEAMS.DB - KEY.DB - ATT.DB What can be done with these tools? - Export info from game to csv file, edit some of the info and put it back to game. You can edit player/goalie names, jersey number, position and attributes. Remember check limitations to values from below, there is none error checking in exe-files. You CANNOT delete players/goalies or insert new ones by editing attributes.csv. So dont remove lines from attributes.csv or dont add any new lines. For deleting and adding new players I recommented Toni Wilen's NHLinfo. What info can be edited? - attributes.csv holds following fields in order: For Players: Team Team short name. Do not edit! TEAMS.DB order number Do not edit! Jersey# Can be edited, values 1-99 Position Can be edited, values C/R/L/D First name Can be edited, max. 16 characters Last Name Can be edited, max. 16 characters Hanted Can be edited, values 0-1 (0=right 1=left) SPD Can be edited, values 0-15 (0=25, 15=100) AGI Can be edited, values 0-15 (0=25, 15=100) WGT Can be edited, values 0-15 (0=25, 15=100) POW Can be edited, values 0-15 (0=25, 15=100) CHK Can be edited, values 0-15 (0=25, 15=100) STH Can be edited, values 0-15 (0=25, 15=100) ACC Can be edited, values 0-15 (0=25, 15=100) UNK Can be edited, but this is really unknown value, it is 8 by default to all players. Usage: Copy all mentioned files to same folder. Run gametocsv.exe to export info to attributes.csv file. Edit attributes.csv with any tool which is familiar to you. Remember keep the same format on attributes.csv file. Format on attributes.csv is: - First comes player info - GOALIES line - Goalie info - END line You should check how the attributes.csv looks like before you start importing/exporting. When editing is done, save to attributes.csv and run csvtogame.exe. Then copy files: TEAMS.DB, KEY.DB and ATT.DB back to your NHL95 root directory or on season directory. Check if everything was changed correctly and game runs ok. For checking NHLinfo is a good tool. These tools do not change players/goalies career stats. Those career stats could affect to simming in game, so if you want to edit those values, I again recommented Toni Wilen's NHLinfo. Anyways, do not wait any updates to these tools If this works, we should see more updated/vintage rosters on NHL95PC community. Have fun! NHL95PCtools.zip
  11. Here are two rinks for NHL95PC. Little adjust to faceoff spots and goalie area. Also trapezoid added. Two versions, with normal ice and with scratched ice. NHL95PCrink2013.zip NHL95PCrink2013scratch.zip
  12. I think NHLPA Hockey '93 does not require running installation, unless you got it still on floppy disks and really want to install from there Just copy whole content to folder, for example c:\nhl93 and start hockey.exe from there. No need to run setup.exe, I think.
  13. I record every game, but I also stream games as live by Ustream. GMs gather to irc for commenting during a game. Irc is also place where I announce when the next game begins. I save game to Ustream, if somebody wants to watch that game afterwards. Also I capture game by dosbox to my computer. Sometimes Ustream have technical difficulties for streaming and saving, so this way I can reload that game to Ustream or distribute it to GMs other way. I would say it took 3 weeks from me to simulate 124 games. One game simulation and streaming takes about 30 minutes. That pace was very intense and it does not happen so fast in every season. There is always possibility to simulate games running them faster in dosbox, because dosbox capturing still records game in right way. I don't want to do that, because in our league GM's really want to watch those games as live. In this particular league KOHL1, we start each season by "fantasydraft". It is not actually a draft, maybe more like an auction. GMs don't keep last season players, everything starts from a scratch. All GMs have same amount of cash, like 3 Million. Players have default salaries, depending how high their overall of attributes are. All GMs make their offers to players at same time, without knowing what other GMs are offering and to whom. Biggest offer takes the player. In tie, player moves to another offer round. We continue offers until all teams have certain number of players, last season we had 16 forwards, 9 defencemen and 3 goalies. There is no new players in this league, we "draft" always from NHL95PC original rosters. Although I have simming league in mind, where players attributes are changing for each season, GMs would have 1-3 years contracts with players, next season money amount differs from how high you placed in league, new players will come to league by draft, old ones will retire and there is possibility to save money for next season. So, there would be continuity for building a dynasty But so far these are just plans
  14. Here is tutorial for changing Scouting Report logos in NHL95PC. I am changing Tamba Bay logo for Colorado Rockies logo in Scouting Report screen. I will use Dosbox, NHLinfo and GIMP. First I open Dosbox, go to NHL95 and there to scouting report. Then I press CTRL-F5, which makes screenshot of scouting report to my dosbox capture-folder. I open that file in GIMP (free software for graphics editing) and leave it open. I have Colorado Rockies logo, where I have already removed white backround by making it transparent (named as COLtp.gif).: Logo must be 94x91 as size, you can verify that in NHLinfo by looking TB logo there. I open that logo also in GIMP. I select my logo in GIMP and from menu Colors->Map->Set colormap. Now it open new window asking for palette. I just press button next to where it says Palette and it open palette selection: 2 first palettes are from images which I have open in GIMP. #19 is from my scouting report screenshot. If you are uncertain which it is, you can see that number in GIMP by looking picture's title. I Select colormap #19 and I click ok from dialog box. My logo in GIMP now uses scouting report screen palette and colors are wrong: Now I export this logo to different name, for example COLnew.gif. (From menu: File-Export) Then I open my original COLtp.gif to GIMP. I select COLtp.gif and from menu Edit->Copy. Then I move to COLnew.gif, where colors are wrong. I select Edit->Paste. Now my image went floating over and it shows colors right: Then I just select File->Export and I save my COLnew.gif. Then I move it to my NHL95-folder. Now I open NHLinfo and select SRLOGO.QFS file and I roll down to TB where Tamba Bay logo shows black and white: Then I just try to replace TB logo. I have the Colorado logo to my NHL95 folder, named as COLnew.gif. I press F1. This open new window in NHLinfo and I just move with arrow keys to my logo file, named for COLnew.gif. It show in right window of NHLinfo, notice that transparent background now shows in pink color: Then I press enter. NHLinfo asking if I would match or replace palette, I select replace. NHLinfo raports about importing. By pressing F1 once again I can go back to first window where TB logo has now changed to Colorado logo. Although it shows up there in black and white, we can leave NHLinfo. Next I go to dosbox and my NHL95 game to see how it shows in scouting report. I select Tamba Bay to exhibition game and scouting report shows logo like this: I also changed Tamba Bay text to Colorado by NHLinfo, if someone wonders that in picture. I bet there is better ways to do this, but this worked for me. I hope this helps NHL95PC editing in future. Happy Easter to everyone!
  15. Good win guys! Even Detroit were not unbeaten this season.
  16. I do not do updated rosters myself, some people in here do and I suppose you have already find those threads here where they share their work. I have plans for 80's conversion, but those are so far just plans...
  17. My team was Los Angeles Kings. Ask away! What do you want to know?
  18. Kiba's Original Hockey League Season 1 got new champion! http://koti.kapsi.fi/~kiba/php/KHL/champions.php Watch the final 5th game here: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/30434041 This was simmed league by NHL95PC. Playoffs were best from 5 games.
  19. I suppose you get NHLinfo started because you see some directories and files. When you started it, you got 2 choices: "View all kind of image files and replaces EA SHPI-images" takes you to where you can view and import/export grapchics to/from game. It is not a WYSIWYG editor, it only allows you to browse graphic files and import/export them. It is not very straight forward thou, there is packed graphic files and palettes to take in consideration during process. Here are some information about graphic editing via NHLinfo: http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/3019-nhl-95-pc-a-hackers-dream-anyone-play-it/?p=113011 Usually roster/jersey updates do not change everything in game. Jerseys are mainly made by JED-editor, which edits only team jersey colors on ice, not in presentation/selection in exhibition mode. JED allows to edit team logos in game where you can see the score, but leaves center ice logos intact. Center ice logos are hard to edit, because you cannot view/edit them via NHLinfo. Some people have manage to do this over the years however and I am trying to found out how they did it. So far I have only manage to bypass center ice logos, so they wont appear to ice. If you select another choice in NHLinfo as "Electronic Arts NHL Hockey 95", you can edit team/player names/starts/attributes. Team name texts are editable by NHLinfo, only one shortening of team name cannot be changed and I think that is also possible by hex editor. For sound editing, NHLinfo does not support it. So, like changing announcing of the game with right new team names, is not possible (yet). So, usually updates for NHL95PC do not include full conversion. There is some things we NHL95PC fans have to tolerate. Because I still think that it is nice to play sometimes with new rosters even thou everything is not changed in game for new. It would be nice to have everything easily editable and have constant updates running to NHL95PC, but now situation is that NHL95PC is actually quite hard to edit for "full conversion". There are some tools, but for total conversion to new rosters and team info and jerseys, you have to use combination of them and in some cases hex editor. For sounds, we have no editing tools so far. Genesis and SNES versions of NHL series have much wider hacking community, so it is clear that updates and new editing tools are coming to that field more recently. So if you compare situation to that field of hacking, you should not wait same amount of efforts from NHL95PC field. Anyways, there are few people who are trying to also play and hack NHL95PC and make updates for it. It is hard for me thou, I am not a programmer and I have actually almost none graphic editing skills. But I love the game and after its almost 20 years run, I still play it and try to find solutions for hacking problems. If something really wanted to be done in hacking communities, best way to do it is trying to do it by yourself. Usually it requires studying those hacking things and usually it takes a lot of time. For example It took 5 years for me to figure out of right way to export/import NHL95PC rink image, even thou it is actually very easy to do and NHLinfo's instructions tell how to do it When we find some information by hacking NHL95PC, we can share it here and piece by piece we can gather that information and make the hacking more easy to everyone. So, happy playing and hacking with NHL95PC.
  20. I figured out that NHL95PC stores center ice logos to .TIL files, but NHLinfo could not open them. Does anyone know a program for opening DOS game tile graphics?
  21. From here: http://members.shaw....uri/nhlinfo.zip
  22. Here is jersey editor for NHL95 PC. jed301.zip
  23. If you are looking for NHL95 PC-version jerseys, here is one version from 2008-2009 season: http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/8800-nhl-reebok-edge-jersey-update-2008-2009/ I dont know anywhere is newer ones.
  24. Martin, I tried to change export->change->import logos in CTLOGO.QFS and it worked fine. If you follow my instructions of exporting/importing via NHLinfo, you should figure it out... if not, we will eventually About center logos on rink, I think those are not in format that NHLinfo can handle. I figured out that center logos are in TIL-files and placing those over rink is stored in MAP-files. For example NYR.TIL stores Rangers center logo and NYR.MAP tells where game should put it in Rangers home game. As long I had made right assumptions Anyways, I wiped out NYR.MAP file continent, but game did crash. Then when I put nothing but 2 zeros to that file by hex editor, game worked fine and did not put any center logos to ice. So this could be a workaround to center logo problem before we can figure out how to edit TIL-files. Maybe TileLayerPro is solution... Hope this helped you bit in your project, ask away if you got any questions.
