  1. congratulations on the berth, if i were you id start preparing for st.louis, i have a feeling my playoff date will be with boston.
  2. did hokkee write something nasty last night and then replace it with a smiley face? the only thing i ever saw was a smiley face so im left out in the dark right now as to what in the world is going on.
  3. Why all the sarcasm? i appreciate the replies, probably the most ive gotten all season, but hey,im just curious.
  4. Not only the Sharks enjoy a big win in Toronto with a 14-1 effort, but the also clinced one of the 6 coveted playoff spots with their 36-11-1 performance thus far in the season. "This playoff spot just goes to show how hard our guys have worked all season through the the highs and lows we have experienced. It took the 70 or so points we expected we would need to make the playoffs and its a real accomplishment for our team, now we need to focus on getting a high seed," said the manage AngryJay. As for the game that took place against the Leafs, the Sharks managed to acquire a Triple Hat Trick, an incredibly rare feat. Pierre Turgeon lead the way with a 4 goal, 5 assiist performance, he was closely follwed by linemates Jimmy Carson and Mark Recchi who were able to get 3 goals and an assist each to complete the Triple Hat Trick. Terry Yake pitched in a couple 2 man shorthanded goals, Alexei Gusarov played the role of playmaker by racking up 4 assits and adding a marker, while Ray Bourque add a shortie goal and an assist of his own. "Sheer blanace, thats what we have, no one man took over the game and dominated, it was a total team effort," said the Captain Pierre Turgeon. These type of team efforts have been the story for the Sharks this season and allowed them to lock up a playoff spot, these type of efforts will need to continue in the last 8 games of the season to wrap up a home ice advantage spot in the first round.
  5. good luck on a season ending winning streak, im rooting for you to accomplish your goal.
  6. i dont know about that, skoolyard still has to win his games to get in.
  7. Today the San Jose Sharks came out offensive minded and never left that mindset no matter what the outcome was. In 7 games today 78 goals were scored, 45 of them came off sharks sticks. In the first game the Sharks faced off with the Rangers at Madison Square Garden, the Rangers took advantage of their few chances and had a few breaks go their way to allow them to skate off with the 6-4 vicotry. All three Ranger forwards put a pair past the shake Tommy Soderstrom. In game 2 the Sharks went up agasint the struggling Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers fought hard but were unable to keep up with the Sharks offense has they slammed home 7 goals in a 7-2 win to complete the season sweep over the Oilers. In game three the Sharks faced the top dogs in the west, the Chicago Blackhawks. The Blackhawks asserted themselves after a a slow start and managed to take advnatage of some porous defense and weak goaltending in a 6-3 win. The Sharks had countless chances against the Hawks, but Belfour played big and came up with big save after big save. Looking to get back on their feet, the Sharks went up against the Ottawa Senators in the Civic Center. The Sharks scored 5 unansuwerd goals to turn a 4-2 defecit into a 7-4 lead and were able to hold on for an 8-6 victory over the Sens. In the final three games the Sharks went up agasint their conference rival, the Vancouver Canucks. In the first game the Sharks recieved two goals each from Mark Recchi, Pierre Turgeon and Jimmy Carson en route to a 6-4 victroy. In game 2 the Vancouver Canucks, although outplayed most of the game, took advantage of horrendus face off defense by the Sharks. In the first play of the game the Canucks scored off the face off to take a 1-0 lead very early in the game. The Sharks answered with 3 goals to take a 3-1 lead, but it would evaporate in a flash as Steve Yzerman answered with a goal and then proceeded to win 3 straight face offs and beat the entire San jose team for three straight goals to give the Canucks a 5-3 lead. In response the Sharks scored 4 straight goals to give them a 7-5 lead with 100 seconds left in the game. Steve yzerman proceeded to win 3 straight face offs again and provide the goal or a helping hand in the next 3 canucks goals which were scored in a span of 19 seconds. Glenn Healy then shut the door on the Sharks in the last 70 seconds to persrve an 8-7 Canucks win. In game 3 the Sharks shaped up their face offs and their face off defense by winning 15 out of 20 faceoffs and scoring the first 8 goals in a 9-2 white wash of the Canucks. Mark Recchi and Jimmy Carson each had hattricks while Pierre turgeon pitched ina goal and 4 assists. the win gave the sharks a 3-1 edge in head-head battles with the Canucks and provided them a much needed buffer between them and the 6th spot in the playoffs. "we played pretty shaky tonight on defense, it was atrocious at times, but we picked up the wins we needed against the teams we needed to beat most and put ourselves in a good position to get a playoff berth," said Mark Recchi. At 30-11-1, the top two seeds are out of the question for the sharks, what they are trying to get is just into the playoffs, with 4 other teams nipping on their heels the Sharks will have to win a few more games to achieve their goal. On the individual front the San Jose sharks are the only team in the league to have three players with atleast 60 goals, 50 assists and 115 points.
  8. Two weeks ago was an ugly time for the San Jose sharks organization after taking two beat downs from the St. Louis Blues. "The Blues didnt have to step on the ice to beat us those two nights, we beat ourselves up and down the rink,it was an ugly thing to watch. The blues played well and they converted their chances, but when we looked at the game tape we saw a lot of stuff we did to beat ourselves," muttered a frustrated Angryjay. But after the beatdowns at the hand of the Blues, the sharks took the christmas break off and decdied to stay away from the rink completly. "we just needed some time to get away from hockey, its a rough league and we just needed to step back and realize that there is more to life out there than just hockey," said Ray Bourque. In the last few days the Sharks have played their first two games after the break and although they looked very rusty and struggling at times, they were able to pull off a pair of big wins against conference rivals Anahiem and Calgary. "We played a pair of good teams and we squeaked out a few lucky victories. We have a lot of rust on us right now, were just playing with the basic fundamentals and so far its working out, eventually were gonna have to get sharper, but for now were happy with our efforts and our results," said the Captain, Pierre Turgeon.
  9. I cant believe you guys have forgotten the one and only Jimmy Carson, hes an incredible player, just look at the stats ive racked up with that beast, he beats down Roenick every day of the week and twice on sunday. Also, Pierre Turgeon isnt half bad either, one hell of a shot.
  10. i just want to let people know im back off hiatus, but i will only be available in very small doses until right around new years.
  11. hey boys,i just wanted to let you know im going on hiatus for a few days. I got so many things going through my mind and so many obligations coming up in the next few days that im going to take a short hiatus. I cant even focus when i play, my mind is in a different world,im sure its fairly evident with my last 3 performances. hopefully this time away to finish all the stuff i need to do will help refresh my focus.
  12. Teemu Selanne, the nortious Shark killer came to the rink today and did everything in his power to stop the Sharks and their record setting 15 game winning streak, Selanne would not be denied. After an Alexei Gusarov give away deep in the Ducks zone, Selanne blazed up the ice and was able to pull off a slick move to beat Tommy Soderstrom glove side with 2 seconds to go to put the Ducks on top in an 8-7 back and forth game at the pond. "We fought our hearts out and we had some great success on offence with 7 goals and 25 shots, but our defense was lacking, it was so bad it ended up killing us in the end," said a dismayed Mark Recchi who had 2 goals and 2 assits. Jimmy Carson single-handedly kept the sharks in the game for the first 2 plus periods by scoring the Sharks first 5 goals of the game, without Carson the Sharks would have been burried under an absolute onslaught of pin point Ducks shooting. Mark Recchi tied the game at 7 with 57 seconds to go off a great feed by Pierre Turgeon, but a turnover by Gusarov created the Selanned game winner to blow the game for the Sharks. The Sharks streak ends at 15, an impressive number to say the least, but after all that hard work, the sharks playoff spot is still up in the air. "Tonight we faced a great Anahiem team that just kept pounding pucks home, give them a lot of credit, their offense hung with us and ended up landing the final blow in the last two seconds," said Angryjay about the game. While the coach was happy with the determiniation of his team, he is vociing the furstration of playing in the insane Campbell Conference. "were 24-6-0-1, and were not even sniffing 1st place, i dont really know what else we can do, we go on a 15 game winning streak and were still struggling to be in the top 6, its a joke that these guys are working so hard and play well every game only to see themselves in limbo. Even if we keep winning, were not assured anything, this conference is just incredible," said the manager. With the winning streak over, the Sharks will look to find their winning aways against whomever their next opponent is, all this reporter knows is, expect a TON of goals.
  13. Some events have occured that have caused my plans to be leaving to be cancelled, so now i can hang out with all you bums from the league.
  14. yeah, eddie is cool, whenever i message him hes always quick to respond and even if he cant play he is very respectable to you and is a nice guy. im a college student too going through finals and i understand it can get hectic, i hope he is allowed to stick because i do have faith in him to play his games.
  15. The San Jose Sharks are doing what they need to do, beating the teams the should be beating. That theme did not stop tonight as the Sharks handed a 10-2 loss to the visiting Maple Leafs. Captain Pierre Turgeon had an incredible perfomance tonight by scoring 5 goals and providing helpers on 3 others for an 8 point performance. Jimmy Carson pitched in with 5 to bring his season total to 99, he has slumped as of late but is still producing career numbers. The game tonight was in little doubt as Mark Recchi pounded home a blistering slap shot home just 19 seconds in and the Sharks coninued for 3 more in the first to make it 4-0. The leafs responded with a pair of Esa Tikkanen goals after a 5th san jose goal, but the sharks made it decisive by putting 5 more by John Blue. "This is a great thing we have going on here right now, everynight its someone different who is producing, tonight we had Bellows come in and put up a couple of shorthanded assists to give us some breathing room early, he really got us started tonight and we just carried the momentum through the game," said the Captain. This 15 game winning streak has been beneficial for the Sharks, but with impending games against powerhouse such as Chicago and St. Louis and a competitive Ottawa team, the Sharks are bound to stumble soon.
  16. After a pair of 5-4 wins over Hartford and Winnipeg to build the streak to 13, the Sharks hosted the Jets for a rematch of the close game in winnipeg. The Sharks came out charging hard scoring 5 of the games first 7 goals in the first period to have a huge 5-2 lead. But in the second peirod Alexei Gusarov pulled down a streaking Adam Oates on the breakaway to create one of the weirdest goals of all time. It seemed like a normal penalty shot with Oates charging the net and the puck bouncing off the goale when the two colided, but the play was still live and Oates beat Soderstrom to the puck in the corner, the two collided once more and pushed the net off its moorings, the play assumed to be dead by Tommy Soderstrom was in fact still alive and Oates circled around Soderstrom and came into the slot where he wristed a puck by Soderstrom, but by this time the net was off into the corner, that mattered not though as the puck crossed the red line and still registered as a goal for Oates to make the game 5-3. "What in the hell was the referee watching on that play!!!?? I mean first of all Tommy hit the puck and then the net came off its moorings and the play still wasnt dead somehow? I cant believe what i saw, its a joke how that goal got scored, but you gotta give Oates credit, he never quit. But seriously, the NHL has to take a look at that,it was pathetic," said a bewildered Angryjay. After that goal San Jose went on a rampage and tacked on 5 more goals to beat the Jets 10-4 and bring the streak to 14. Right wing Mark Recchi had an incredible perfomance with 7 goals, a new Sharks record. "Everything i touched just turned into gold tonight, It was my turn to light the lamp like wild," said the first star of the game. While the Sharks are cruising, they are showing cracks in their wall. The defense has been lackluster of late allowing 4 goals in each of their last three games. A great offense alone will not carry the Sharks to more victories for much longer.
  17. congratulations on the win, all your hard work and determination has paid off with a victory,i predict 10 wins for the season.
  18. Bourque is a superstar, but is he a dangerous player complain about in tilting the balance? no,i dont think hes up their in that discussion. All im saying is the top guys go no matter what in the first part of a draft whether it be teams or players. i may have a potent team, but i dont have that one guy that im gonna bitchslap you with for 8 goals to destroy everything. thats all im trying to point out. (yes,i know i just scored 7 with recchi, but thats an exception to the rule of my team).
  19. a draft doesnt put a team in your own hands. It has the same exact problems as a regular league because they first few picks will be Roenick, Yzerman, mogilny, belfour, etc. Is anyone bitching about chicago because of Steve Smith or Michel Goulet? I doubt it, its the main players that people utiilize is the main cause for the crying i see. A draft does nothing to stop that because the top guys get the top players. I'm in the draft league right now and i had the 14th pick, heres my team carson-turgeon-recchi bellows-yake-kontos gusarov-bourque kasparaitis-kasataonov soderstrom-puppa See any of the superstars that people complain about a lot on my team? i didnt think so, guess who got them, THE PEOPLE WITH THE TOP DRAFT PICKS!!! Drafting a team or players has litle difference in who gets the advantage, everyone wants the top players and they get them at the beginning no matter what.
  20. hey, i just wanted to let everyone know i wont be around starting friday afternoon until sunday night. i likely wont be available until monday and then only for league games because ill be studying for my finals. So dont be suprised when you see me stop playing.
  21. Tonight the San Jose Sharks hosted a very stingy Philadelphia Flyers, that didnt stop the Sharks from laying on the accelerator all game though on their way to a 21 shot performance and an 8-4 victory. After an early one time beauty by Petr Klima, the sharks answered back with 5 straight goals. Dino Ciccarelli kept it close with 2 late 2nd period tallies to keep it at 5-3. But Sharks wouldnt be denied as Mark Recchi capped off his hat trick for the night by scoring the Sharks 8th goal in the game. "We wanted to make these guys skate all over the place, we felt we could win a shootout if we could dictate that pace and we managed to pull it off," said Ray Bourque who had 2 goals early in the game for the Sharks. Jimmy Carson has tailed off as late, he is now tied for second in league scoring with Steve Yzerman with 87 points. Captain Pierre Turgeon has been on a tear in the winning streak as he now leads the league with 90 points and is second in goals with 59. Mark Recchi is also having a nice season with 69 points which arguably leads the leagues most balanced attack. The Sharks attack keeps opponents guessing because any one of their forwards can break out and take control of a game.
  22. The Sharks continue their winning ways with a 7-1 win in the vaunted forum and a 5-2 win in the tank. The 2 wins bring the winning streak to 10 games and give the sharks 39 points on the season. "Yeah, were winning a lot right now, but have you seen Vancouver? Those guys have won 11 in a row, we're doing all this winning but were not putting much space between us and the other teams, so its a little disheartening to see that, but were just gonna keep plugging away and see what happens," voiced manager Angryjay when asked about the streak.
  23. congratulations on the point, i told you wouldnt go 0-56. A win is in the near future for you,i can feel it.
  24. The Shars have taken their losing streak earlier in the season and made it a positive note because it has become a launching pad for an 8 game winning streak. The Sharks notched win number 8 tonight against the hometown Ducks in a 6-2 game. The first period was a draw with both teams unable to score. Teemu Selanne wasted no time in the second though by scoring 7 seconds in and that lead would last until late in the 2nd where the sharks managed to slide a couple past Kirk McLean but Teemu tied it up with a crash the net goal to take it into a 2-2 3rd period. The Sharks exploded out of the gates in the third with 2 goals in the first two minutes and potted home two more against an offensive minded Ducks team. Pierre Turgeon had another hat trick tonight and Jimmy Carson got back on track with a 1 goal, 3 assist performance. "We had a real tough game on our hands tonight and thankfully we had a real strong 3rd period to carry us home to the victory, give a lot of credit to the Ducks for how hard they worked, if a few bounces had gone their way we could have been on the opposite side of a 6-2 loss," said Mark Recchi. With 8 wins in a row, the sharks will try to extend their streak against the Montreal Canadiens in a home and home series.
  25. Felix Potvin played an incredible game tonight making great save after great save, but due to constant pressure, he was forced into giving up 5 goals in a 5-1 loss against the Sharks. Pierre Turgeon managed to slip 3 goals past the solid Potvin who ended up making 15 saves on 20 shots. "We really have tip our cap to the defense of Edmonton and The Cat, he played his heart out and did everything to keep his team in the game. He put up an incredible performance and we feel lucky to have 5 goals," said Turgeon. Jimmy Carson was a victim of the teams balanced attack tonight as he did not figure much in this game with only an assist to go along with his 5 shots. He once again decline an interview after the game. Carson currently leads the league wth 76 points, but with Pavel Bure, Mike Gartner and Mario Lemieux charging right behind him, dont look for that lead to last too much longer.
