  1. Thanks for the comments everyone. If you see a bug or have a suggested change, please feel free. Also, I forgot to list that smoz weight bug fix is part of the hack.
  2. I've been pretty busy recently and haven't been able to test this as much as I hoped, but I figured it's about time I uploaded this. Comments welcome. I don't plan on doing frequent updates other than bugs, although maybe a mid-season ratings update or something. I will definitely do a trade deadline update. Enjoy! nhl2016-naples39.zip
  3. That's a great idea, but I don't think it can be done. I think the way hacking # of skaters on ice works is that it applies all the time, not just OT.
  4. Cool. Don't forget I'll be releasing the 1.0 version shortly after opening day with opening day rosters. If you have any suggestions before then, I'm all ears.
  5. Thanks! You are the master and I only starting doing hacks again when you stopped making your fantastic updated roms.
  6. It's pretty cool to have. It still doesn't quite fit the mold of infinitely hackable, but it's a cool alternative. I don't think I'm going to work on anything though, because NHL15PC by goodbyeccha already does pretty much everything I would try to do.
  7. Thanks guys. These responses came much faster than I expected. I know a lot of hacking information was out there upon digging, but often times the limits don't present themselves until you are knee deep in effort and you're like "man, why did I even bother." Maybe I'll do a little testing amd tale a look at what others have accomplished.
  8. Pardon the laziness, but where do things stand on editing '95 PC? I've done a bunch of 94 GENS full season roms, but was recently intrigued about 95 PC mods. -Can you change the rosters/player ratings fully? I assume this is an easy yes, although I haven't tried it. -Can you change the team's uniforms? Also looks like yes, and fairly straightforward -Can you change the team menu graphics (logos, jerseys during team selection)? -Can you change the number of teams available for selection? I've always had a dream to make a rom with hundreds of teams in it, although 30 on PC would be a nice start. -What graphics can you edit on the ice? Lines, center ice logos? I'm no wizard, and I just do mods with tools and hacks discovered by others. Any info from someone with hands-on experience would be appreciated. Thanks!
  9. So I thought I'd put up for download a preview release of my upcoming version of NHL 2016. It seems a good a time as any, as most of the major offseason stuff is done, and it will be a few more months of dead time before teams set the rest of their rosters. It's basically my 2015 deadline rom (here), with the following updates: -New uniforms for Arizona, Washington whites. -McDavid (79 OVR) added to EDM and Eichel (74 OVR) added to Buffalo. They are the only rookies for the moment. -Pretty much every offseason move so far (Kessel to PGH, Saad to CLB, Green to DET, Oshie to WSH, Hamilton to CGY, Talbot to EDM...) -Player pictures added for new starters. If you just can't wait to play with these new rosters moves, you can play around with this rom for the time being. DON'T play with line changes, as lineups are not accurate top-to-bottom, and full lines are not set. I'll update the rom to a final version after the season starts with opening day rosters, and cleanup any other issues. Any feedback is welcome for me to implement before then. 2016-preview.bin
  10. The download now listed in top post and in my update post.
  11. Here's a minor update. -Playoff matchups set (I think) -Anaheim jerseys re-designed as so; OLD NEW 2015deadline-b.bin
  12. Now that you bring it up, I never set the playoff matchups when editing the rom. They can be edited in NOSE if you want to fix that for your own use at the moment.
  13. Yeah, I almost changed that one. I'll take another look at it if I do revised version of this rom after the finals are over.
  14. Given the limits of the genesis color palette and the NHL 94 player sprites, there is no way the jerseys can be 100% correct. You have to make some subjective choices. Which jerseys did you have issue with?
  15. So I decided to give this year the "deadline" rom treatment I've done for seasons in the 80s and 90s. Basically it's current trade deadline rosters with the full suite of graphics updates. File attached at bottom. EDIT: Version b download added for playoff matchups and revised Ducks jerseys.2015deadline.zip 2015deadline-b.bin
  16. Yes, you should use NOSE to make the home and away strip the same. It's not difficult to do. If I tried to explain it here it would sound way more complicated than it is. Just use the color dropper feature in NOSE. To make CHI and STL the only selectable teams is a much much messier proposition
  17. I actually initially had the idea to condense my "Deadline" roms (87,89,92,94,95,97 and 99) into 2 or 3 similar 'era' type roms, but I wasn't sure it was worth the effort and did these completely new ones instead. Maybe one day, but no plans to do it anytime soon. Just playing my 89 and 97 roms suffices most of the time for the nostalgia I am looking for to hit pre-expansion NHL, or late 90s NHL.
  18. So I've been working on 2 new roms off and on for a while. I presume most here have seen my deadline series, which is 7 roms for a 13 year period. I began thinking that was overkill, and really what interested me was capturing a team in a specific era rather than a particular year. To that end, I decided to make 2 new roms; one to cover 2000-2004 (until the lockout), and 2005-2010 (after the lockout). In terms of rosters, it's 30 teams, with 9 forwards, 6 dmen, and 2 goalies each. Obviously the player selections for each team is a little subjective, but the idea was to represent core players. This means the star players who spent a significant amount of time there during the relevant period, or depth players who were there a long time. It also means the same player may appear on 2 teams in the same rom if he was a big part of two teams. It also makes the teams more even than taking a given season. I could probably pick at these roms for a little while longer bug hunting and ratings tweaking, but I decided to put them up now. (Download at bottom) Preview; -Splash screen -Title screens -Player pictures for every starter -Scoreboard logo based on NHL 94 box art -Clockwise sprite patch for improved uniforms -Anniversary and alternate logos used as center ice when possible. Other features -Goalie trapezoid for post-lockout rom -Other hacks such as assist fix, weight/checking bug fix, halved speed burst effect -All team ratings (home/away, pp/pk...etc) set to average I guess that's it for now. Hope you enjoy! Comments welcome. NHL94 - 2000-4.bin NHL94 - post-lockout.bin
  19. I'm not sure what you mean by hi-res considering all the pictures are small and grainy in their original form, but I believe the zip file here as all the images embedded in a webpage. http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/216-how-to-player-card-tutorial-nhl94-nhl95/ Otherwise just do google image searches to find player pictures on you own for better quality pics.
  20. Thanks for the comment and your PM. I needed you a few months ago! Over time I got very comfortable with the graphic aspects, but cranking out the rosters and lines became the real pain. As things stand now, I hit all my goals for these roms and more so I'm not working on them at the moment. Maybe I'll come back if I have some new goals to strive for, but for the moment I won't re-up to update the team for the mighty Peter Andersson.
  21. Copying and pasting the rink is very simple. It's literally just copying pasting a whole code section when viewing the ROM in a hex editor. Just taking the ice surface itself though, probably will not work. It's a complete package deal. Ice, boards, benches....
  22. If I understand the issue correctly, you need to change the rink tilemap in a hex editor. It's the part explained in the bottom half of the rink editing link you posted. I bailed on detailed rink editing, but my understanding of the issue is that it's like putting together a puzzle. First you make the pieces (the tiles), and then you tell the game where to put each piece on the tilemap. You need to design a new puzzle piece (by overwriting one you don't want anymore), then edit the tilemap (hex code) so it's know to use that piece in the right spot.
  23. Yes, rink editing is a beast. I just took rinks wholesale from different roms and dropped in the whole thing, rather than edit individual parts.
  24. Something happened when I messing with the rinks. It happens with mid-90s rink setup used in the 92, 94, 95 and 97 roms, where the benches appear as one of the colors in the home team strip palette (a color that is not normally changed, but changes when using the clockwise sprite hack). I noticed it, but didn't track it down and decided to live with it. An acceptable quirk to me.
  25. Here are the TM reference shots; http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/2977-reference-tile-molester-reference-screenshots/ I barely need to use them anymore though, because I bookmarked all the tile and palette locations in that xml file I put in that other thread.
