  1. I thought about having a salary cap style where there is a formula for creating players on your team. Say base player is 3's across the board. Lowering a number reduces that players salary & adding points increases salary. Make certain skills weight heavier on the salary scale & then also make the 5th skill point & 6th skill points cost more to add than the 4th. In this scenario, guys create their own players & names given a cap. The effect would be similar to your idea. If you are only drafting players though, then I think an auction style league does the same thing in effect plus you get the joy of an auction. However, the shortage of league completion is an obvious issue. To me, I failed to hire someone last year to create a tourney style website. Then you can have these quick one week drafts, or whatever, & also makes weekend exibing something more fun to join on for short bursts. Would tie in nicely w/ a create a team w/ a salary cap as well.
  2. The ROM doesn't have all the trades. I moved Hull for Messy & Ulf for Ronning. Not sure if other trades are missing. I'll try to get to it myself later if noone else does by then.
  3. Pitt trades ulf Samuelsson to det for cliff ronning.
  4. Pitt takes Tony Granato and waives Troy Loney.
  5. On the way back, Pitt drafts D. Manson & drops B. Fogarty. I'll resist all attempts to be funny as I'm watching Seahawks vs Packers & it's sucking my creativity out the window.
  6. Pitt drafts B. Shanahan & drops Jeff Daniels.
  7. Pitt trades T. Sandstrom to Vancouver (Hokkee) for P. Coffey.
  8. Pitt trades P. Bure to Philly (Donnybrook94) for E. Lindros.
  9. I'd like to move either Hull, Bure or Sandstrom this trading period. I'm looking for defense over offense. Could be a packaged deal as well, since Hull & Bure are top level picks normally. I like my defenders FAT like your mommas boys I also probably won't be trading until I know the draft order, as I'd like to figure out who I can get in the draft room before completing a trade. AIM me w/ ideas.
  10. When do we get the draft order for Round 2 of the auction? Hard to trade without knowing that.
  11. Did you guys fall asleep around here? Wakee wakee boys. Let's get them games in so we can do final trade/draft Rounds, which is always the best parts & then of course, the playoffs!
  12. Instead of time zones, list when they normally play. Some of the European guys come on earlier than others, and some of the east coast guys are even later than the west coasters. Friday/Sat afternoon/evening, etc. Dicicion & I live like 20 minutes from each other and I've been online the same time as him for like 2 hours total since I've been on this site! And bunch as many as you can in those leagues. The biggest goals are to 1. end a season w/ all the games played & 2. a champion crowned. Newbs getting crushed & B leaguers getting crushed a few games against the Plabax's is OK as long as we then get to go play the rest of the group and recover our pride. Who cares if one conference had 4 great players and the other 1? You still have to beat someone to be the champ in the finals. At least this way, you end up w/ the games getting played and a finals reached. If the Euro division has 4 guys play each other 24 times instead of 12 times, and the other teams only 2 games, you can still get 40 plus games scheduled. Last spring, we didn't even do the thing, so real changes are needed. To me, bunching them by when you play regardless of how it looks is the only way to do a season. Maybe instead of A league, B League & C Leauge, create 4-5 "divisions" with a small playoff (top 4?). Then, have a tourney of champs from those divisions for one winner. Not a B Champion, and an A Champion, because minus being the A Champ, all "champs" are not really the champs. It wouldn't take longer, because the season could go faster, and the amount of teams in the initial playoff format would be reduced. And then, you might end up w/ two teams as Chicago or the Rangers or whatever, but creating a 4 team playoff ROM should not be that difficult anyhow, so having two guys w/ the same team in the finals would not be a real issue. And this would also incorporate everyone into one league. There are enough side leagues anyhow for all the "stats" for those worried about the imbalance of time zones.
  13. I read the question as for the fall/spring classic leagues & not a custom league, so based my opinion/options off that. First, I'd do team selection as an actual draft w/ a ranked selection or random order, but I always hated the selection process. Second, I'd have three leagues, a) & c). For c, if new guys stop playing, those games are deleted and a new coach is found. Having a sub start mid season is dumb & ruins the stats for that guy & others who did/did not get to play. Third, depending on how many play, consider splitting schedule into conferences based on time zones that guys play, & you do not play teams outside your zone till playoffs. Shorten time for check points & get to playoffs faster, & put time slots on playoff rounds to keep momentum. Over the years a few forfeits would have been better than dragging a post season till no one cares who won.
  14. fyi, I have two #7's on my roster. Nate Emerson & M. Petit. Petit needs to be changed to any number not used.
  15. I noticed on all the teams, that the checking line have the Left Defenseman set to the team's Line 1 LD. I thought this is where you have to set the 4th defender to prevent the game from subbing in a forward instead of the 4th defender. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's how I believed it worked if your third defender was injured or in the box. Also, are we using the smoz CB check bug fix on this rom?
  16. I also found as smoz said that you don't usually need to re-install everything, but delete/replace one file when things go haywire.
  17. Just a thought, perhaps you enabled the old gens file to go through port forwarding, but the new one has not been setup to go through. Not sure what goes into the firewall enabling something through it, but it might be more than just "name of a file" type thing, and might be specific to the actual file to prevent programs from somehow slipping through via a "mask". I've not set up direct porting, but perhaps the file location changed when you re-installed, or something simple like that as well. Try re-setting up the firewall to enable the new gens file you created.
  18. The only number double I see is once Messier is added to the team, Francis needs a new number (89 works for me). Goalie = Eddy Line 1 Line 2 Check LW Messier LW Jagr LW T. Granato C Lindros C R. Courtnall C B. Shanahan RW C. Ronning RW G. Courtnall RW R. Francis LD D. Manson LD K. Samuelsson LD P Stanton RD P. Coffey RD U. Krupp RD P. Taglianeti X Jagr X Lindros X Lindros PPL1 PPL2 LW Messier LW Jagr C Lindros C R. Courtnall RW Ronning RW G. Courntall LD Manson LD Samuelsson RD Coffey RD Krupp PK1 PK2 LW Messier LW Jagr C Lindros C G. Courtnall LD Manson LD Samuelsson RDCoffey RD Krupp
  19. Pitt selects Russ Courtnall & waives Dave Tippett. The Courtnall brothers are joined together.
  20. Pitt drafts T. Sandstrom & waiving Mike Stapleton.
  21. Pitt trades captain Mario & newly acquired ruzicka packing to Vancouver for Bure & Courtnall
  22. Pitt trades L. Murphy, T. Barrasso, & K. Stevens for E. Belfour, V. Ruzicka & G. Murphy.
