One we use a lot is Ranheim Steamroller, even did shirts for a Ryder Cup Team 98 Came in with custom Dry-Star Ts with the Hartford Whale with it underneath “Ranheim Steamrolling ’97 since ’06” If you need nerd translator to get the joke – The Hartford Whalers were an NHL team – They were in NHL 95 – They moved to Carolina a couple years later and changed their name to the Hurricanes – This is their alternate logo that is not on their jerseys – Paul Ranheim plays wing for the Hartford Whalers in NHL 95 – He was not that great of a player in real life – In this game he is very fast and can score on breakaways – Nate listens to a lot of Manheim Steamroller. – Best know for their Xmas song covers – One time Drunk Nate said “Ranheim Steamroller” after a goal and it stuck

This is great. The Madison Tecmo Tournament does the same thing with Tecmo names for each tourney and they play that said movie in background. Last year was "There's something about Barry"

Fun Watch, Seeing two top players go at it Had not watched a full game in a long time. Kinda forgot all the scoring methods playing so much NHL95 so was surprised a lot by the Pretty Goals.

This is a good point. Over at tecmobowl.org there are the same conversations about what causes fumbling and injuries etc. People would talk about how Okoye fumbles more than other players. But there is a a guy named "bruddog" over there who is pretty good at figuring out the code of the game. He did find the Okoye fumble stats were the same as others, but since he can break more tackles than other players he is more likely to be tackled inbounds, which means more opportunities to fumble. My guess it's just a random # for all players. Every time you get laid out it does a probability of an injury. But if you just took stats from my games, Lindros always gets injured.

Anybody every crack open Season Mode in NHL 95 Gens? I am a novice at this stuff but would love to figure out a way tinker with the schedule maker on it where you could do a limited game schedule or limited teams with stats still being kept.

We used to do like 4 tourneys a year, but we all are domesticated now with wives and kids so its a yearly thing now. Normally play around Jan/Feb each year.

Looks like the most updated version is 09, which is Genesis http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php/topic/9214-nhl-95-genesis-09-roster/ Probably would be a little too much work but if you took NOSE which is the editor for NHL games you could get and paste the post updated players in the 94 version into 95? Is an NHL 95 KUMITE in the future?????

Has anybody done a updated version of NHL 95 rosters? Is Mack Hacks not around any more? I went on his site and it was about NHL Hitz now.

its a great read. I had to re-remember the pre Toronto years for Doug. Totally forgot about his time in Calgary.

How did he come up with the "look" of the game. Was it always going to be vertical? or did he think of doing other angles? Was there any hockey games like (Ice hockey or Blades of Steel) or another game that was not hockey that you got ideas from? How much did he know about hockey before starting this game? Can you believe this game spawned NHL94.com and the people that frequent that site are NOT virgins?

Over at tecmobowl.org direct connect is the preferred way to play. I never could get the direct connect to work on my end so ended up never hosting or doing hamachi. I think this is the biggest barrier for getting new users to play. Even though it gets easy after you have done it a few times. But when I tell a new person they need to get an emulator, AIM, direct connect or hamachi they lose interest fast.
