    Hello and welcome to Euro Classic '94 league! This post will be updated when the schedule is up on site.

    Every team plays each other 4 times (2 home & away) for a total of 36 games. Since there are many newcomers (7) here's important info. These are mostly copied from classic league guidelines with slide adjustations (no checkpoints).

    The league will be played using nohassle rom with 99 overtime.

    How to play league games

    1. Contact the coach you would like to play on Discord
    - The schedule is totally free and does not need to be played in order. It is encouraged to get all your games in with an opponent at the same time.
    2. Play the game
    - The home team hosts the game
    - Once the game is complete, and you get to the "Three Stars" of the game, a save state must be taken and uploaded to the site (either coach can do this, please decide who will perform the upload beforehand). Please check out the threads on creating a Save State linked at the top of this thread post. Once the Save State has been made, the game can be uploaded to the site. 

    There won't be any WEEKLY CHECKPOINTS. That's because I will personally PM coaches who lack behind schedule ;) 

    Playoffs

    Playoff series will be best-of-7. Top 8 teams make the playoffs.

    Network & Hamachi

    Make sure to use wired connection! Wifi is not acceptable. Also please turn off any background downloads (for example Steam) and withhold your roommate for watching Netflix at the same time!

    Due to the limitation of only allowing 5 members in a network, it is recommended that you create a network for yourself, and allow the coach you are playing against to join your network. Then, once the games are completed, you can remove the coach from your network by right-clicking on their name in Hamachi and removing them.

    It is recommended to open Hamachi before starting the emulator.

    Desyncs
    An untied, desync'ed game should be picked up from the point the game desync'ed. The score should be replicated by owners allowing each other to score, and then owners should skate around until the appropriate time remaining in the game to pick up play. The trailing player starts with the puck.

    A tied, desync'ed game can be picked up from the point the game desync'ed in a similar fashion (the visiting team starts with the puck), but, if both players agree, the tied game can also simply be replayed from the start as a new game.

    If two coaches disagree on a score of a game played, they should contact an admin (JMJ) to resolve the issue. If the admin cannot make a decision from the information given, the game must be replayed as if the previous game never happened.

    Lag Problems
    If a coach is experiencing lag such that gameplay is dramatically affected, it is his responsibility to speak up sooner, rather than later. A game that is flagged as unplayable by a coach in the FIRST MINUTE may generally be cancelled and replayed on another server or at another time at no penalty - as long as the coach is not trailing by more than one(1) goal. Otherwise, the rule of thumb is to suspend a lagged game and resume it from the same point in much the same way as outlined in the "Desyncs" section.

    Deadlines start tomorrow Monday at 18:00 GMT in ~1 hour increments from the last pick. Let's hope we do not need them, but if you miss your deadline, your turn will be skipped and you will be given best available team at the end of the draft based on the default list.

  10. Euro Classic '94 league setup inquiry

    Hello and welcome to Euro Classic '94 league setup poll inquiry! I've listed a few options and I'd like hear what kind of rom gets the most votes.

    My personal favorite would be 
    Gens Default NHL '94 "No Hassle" modification with 99 min overtime

    Second option for me is Gens Default NHL '94 with 99 min overtime and third option just the default rom.

    If you are not familiar with "No Hassle" rom, please check this post. Quote:

    - Quick Start - default settings at home screen set to classic rules (head-to-head, 5 min periods, penalties on except offsides)
    - AJ's Lines set as Default- all default starting lineups set to AJ's top lines (Building Lines with AJ) QUE and WSH I picked myself with some help from Bo and SOH.
    - Smart Auto Substitutions - in the event of penalties and/or injuries, the next best player will automatically enter the lineup.
    - Trim the Fat - most players not included in AJ's building lines are deleted from the game entirely, so it's easier to identify which players are actually useable. I did leave in some players not included in AJ's lines, because some players might be good for certain situational lineups or matching up against particular competition.
    - Talent Above Position - all players in the edit lines screen are now ordered from best to worst, as opposed to the original ROM, which is ordered by position. Of course, this is subjective. Mostly I used the order from AJ's forum posts. Just something to make life a little easier when doing manual substitutions.

    There's so many teams, so many players, and so many potential lineups that NHL '94 can be a little overwhelming. This ROM should make things easier and MORE FUN for everybody!

     


    I haven't created any custom roms ever but I think and hope we can get help from the community to create one. The easiest option would be to use the default rom with 5 min overtime. Then again, "No Hassle" kind of setup would minimize setting up games for newcomers.

    Would be interesting to play without weight bug. I'm personally so used to it & use it succesfully and have never even played Genesis / Mega Drive NHL94 without it. It's a big fix since it throws the balance upside down. 

    Goalie control button I'll endorse totally. We were going to have that too on ongoing Plablegs season 2 but some players had problems with it & we had to discard it.

    Let's run a poll for these things too.


    For me, every bug that's in the game is integral part of the charm!

    Been enjoying very low ping while throwing exis with IceCow. So I came up with an idea to organize Classic '94 EURO league online. I only know a few NHL '94 players from the forums located in the old continent (Darko, IceCow, Depch), thus here I am inquiring for all potential players. IceCow might have a couple of players interested and I have maybe 2-5 friends who could play. 

    Let me know, if you know potential players from Europe, and I'll update the post accordingly and reach out to those mentioned. Also need to get in touch with league / site admins what it takes and if it's possible to use the site for this new league. If you are new to online NHL 94 gaming, it doesn't matter! More experienced players could draft their teams last.

  23. Closing the gap between GENS A and B players

Either a screen within a screen with a camera on the finger presses - or there is a version of the GENS emulator that shows the button presses in text at the top of the screen. For a lot of the moves, pass-shots especially, it's a timing thing. To visualize the timing would be a great help, for me anyway.
