  1. and he might be around long enough for me to make up for the gap between when others picked their choices for last man skating and when he came back to the NHL and I chose him late. I intend to check the period between when the second-to-last guy left and when that player was picked. I will compare that with the period between when I chose Jagr and when he finally bows out. I want to have won that competition fairly.
  2. so, by "floorcheck" you mean forecheck? weird. what is you first language?
  3. LAK will miss out; they are too far behind and are not pulling it together. The East looks settled as I don't think Florida can overcome Boston. I'm excited to see what the Islanders can do in the playoffs before they move to their new city.
  4. I know plenty about the game, but I do not know what you mean by "floor check."
  5. wow, those are awful. misshapen "squares," X's for no reason, space between pixels.... an extra two minutes could have fixed all of those issues. this person seems to never have done any pixel work before. conceptually good. terrible execution.
  6. what does "floor check" mean? welcome. thanks for the input/insight.
  7. yeah. there is nothing new to me here, but I very much appreciate the effort put forth. I have not found the EA logo on the clock, either. my ROMs have the popups and overlays intact, but use a thinner border than the default. keep trying stuff. I think you will be the guy to make the next big SNES NHL '94 hacking discovery.
  8. you love this lie. find more than one post where I claim to be better than good. find one, even. you have terrible reading comprehension skills. you create a myth in your head and then share it with others, coloring me poorly; thanks. anyway, I have none of the gear set up and these things are huge time sucks. I just can't put my time and effort into this right now. I have anything else to do, including working on my next ROM. I routinely had 105 through 111 in my tries in the past. I can do better, but it all depends on how long that "you won't score" period lasts. 119 is doable.
  9. I'm not very familiar with the Genesis '96+ games, but those totals look easy to beat.
  10. why does it have to be 10-minute periods? when I try for my personal best (around 120, I can do 111 fairly easily), I do it with the cartridge's max, 20-minute periods. seems arbitrary to use a shorter period. and easier. I haven't tried this in a while and I do have a standalone DVD burner, but... nah. oh, and what are the other "rules" as far as menu choices? not sure why it matters.
  11. while this does nothing to address your queries, it does relate to the stated topic: for the last few iterations of my seemingly-never-ending game project, I have been using team point percentage statistics to make overall team ratings. http://www.nhl.com/ice/teamstats.htm?fetchKey=20152ALLSAAAll&sort=pointPctg&viewName=summary with the highest being 0.772 and the lowest being 0.330 right now, I might say Nashville is a 77 and Buffalo is a 33. or I may add, oh, say... 18 points to each, so the spread of "talent" ranges a bit higher than the original game. in that case, Nashville is a big 95 and Buffalo is less-pathetic-looking 51 in the menu/intro screens. I haven't been straying too far from this general method. I felt like sharing. with Chicago at 78 and Anaheim at 51 in NHL '94, many might think that's what they did to get ratings, using regular-season statistics from 1992-1993, but the range was actually very large that season, with Pittsburgh at 0.701 and San Jose and Ottawa at 0.143. does anybody know how the original overall team ratings were generated?
  12. coach cards are an excellent idea. it would be REALLY cool if they were actually in the dimensions of trading cards with a similar look, maybe even formatted like 1993-1994 season playing cards from the major brands. a few trusted and continually active online players could even create skill categories and ratings for the people they play and/or watch often enough to do well with.
  13. great post, Pearate. thank you.
  14. maybe it needs its own topic, but what do you have planned for the site, Evan?
  15. wow, that "argument" is baffling. I literally cannot understand this guy's mindset. "I deserved a goal there and instead I hit the post! it's not fair!" whaaaaa? here's a tissue. call your momma. suck your thumb and cry. posts happen. except in the Genesis version of NHL '94, in which case they count as goals. I just cannot understand how posts in a hockey game make you mad. "but I hit the 'score' button and didn't score!" whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. regarding the PC games: yes.
  16. since the posts issue seems to be getting traction, please consider that real players in real games hit the posts, sometimes multiple times per game. three posts for one team is more common than no posts, I figure. the Genesis essentially has no posts. you SEE one, but you can't hit it. if you hit the outside of the post, the puck goes in the net. for SNES, if you hit the outside of the post, you hear a big CLUNK sound and the puck deflects away in one of a wide variety of ways. Genesis players think the post-hitting is weird because their version doesn't have it. it's totally normal. sometimes you hit the post. get mad about the simulation of reality. complain that it should be more like a cheesy arcade game.
  17. quick, add him to all of the leagues at the expense of people who will treat others with dignity and actually complete their commitments! you have to hurry, though, as he won't have time to ruin everybody's fun if you don't add him before he freaks out and takes his puck and goes home... yet again.
  18. wow. I'm not going to do a whole point-by-point thing (see posts by "trudatman" for full analysis of this stuff), but I'd like to highlight the lies or deceptive claims: keep spouting the lies to newcomers to try to convince them of what you believe. keep twisting the truth to fit your agenda. be sure to accuse me of similar acts. be sure to eschew logic for passion. be mean to those on the other side. use your main tool of ridicule, making YOURSELF seem ridiculous. if you put this energy into doing something constructive, you could potentially benefit the community. or just keep calling me names at every chance; that's worthwhile.
  19. not a factor in checking success. nor is endurance.
  20. nope. only thing that struck me as wrong was pass shots supposedly not working.
  21. Bruins need to fire their slow-to-implement-changes coach, too. at least theirs eventually makes the right calls. Leafs need a whole new office of people.
