  1. Hey man, can we schedule the games? Tonight, which I suggested before, is no longer possible. How about: THUR OCT 13 @ 9pm EST? If not, I will be out of town until Monday, so it will have to be next week. I can make it work at 9pm any night if I know well ahead... Thanks!
  2. Holy sh*t I made the playoffs? FPB, can we schedule a time this week. Wed or Thur at 9pm EST would work for me... Starting Friday I am out of town until Monday.
  3. What Annatar said, but you can actually keep your login name filled out. Do you have "Remember Password" checked? If yes, uncheck it, and manually enter your password every time. This works for me. It is a hassle, but it gets me in.
  4. I use this, too. So does Zep, so does Atomic. I play a lot and burn through one every 2-3 months, but at $11 from Amazon, not a big deal. Yup, it just works.
  5. What kind of joystick are you using?
  6. Regarding the quote, can you share the actual link where the quote is from? I was having trouble determining where the quote ended and you own words kicked in again. Thanks, Troy!
  7. Dayum, thats very late for this family man. I will try, but no guarantees. If u can get there 10:30 that would help...
  8. One quick comment. I just realized I am the guy that began this whole thread back in 2010. It goes without saying that no one person made this game. There was a team of people involved, and we know and don't want to short change any individual's contribution. But... In the original post I call attention to the programmer. My feeling is it is the programming that made this game magic, and brought it to life, separating it from the multitude of other hockey games that have been made. When I made the post, I was seeking to find out who the programmer was that deserved the credit for this game. Now I know the history, and know it was Jim Simmons that was the sole programmer until NHL94, when Lesser took over, adding some nice extras to Simmons's masterpiece. In my opinion, Jim Simmons should be up there with John Carmack, Shigeru Miyamoto, Notch Persson, and the dude who made Tetris, which is to say, he is one of the greatest videogame programmers of all time.
  9. Wow, thanks for joining and posting! We really appreciate one of the big contributors to this magical game posting here! I sure hope you stick around. It is unfortunate that it was an offensive post that prompted you to post, but I guarantee that clockwise was just kidding around (and meant no offense) with his Bernie Madoff comment. I am going to read what you wrote in more detail, but I just wanted to say Thanks and Welcome!
  10. I pick 5th, so my top 5 in order are: CHI, DET, BUF, WPG, MTL
  11. Well you pick 4th, so you only need to list 4 teams. (One of them will be available.) No harm in picking more though, I guess...
  12. I am subbed in for AtomicRaven... How about Tue Oct 4 at 9pm EST?
  13. Need NSH - hokkeefan NJ - Robro QUE - Freydey32 AIMs sent to all 3.. let's set a time, dudes!
  14. I can do tomorrow (Sun Oct 2) at 1pm EST. I will look for you then!
  15. So I need 4 guys still for PIT... Schedule with me here: http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php/topic/17736-pit-missing-games-need-nsh-nj-nyr-phi-que/
  16. I took over for Atomic. Please schedule games with me here! After 9pm EST M-F is best, but I can be available at odd times on the weekend if we schedule. Seeking: NSH - hokkeefan NJ - Robro QUE - Freydey32 PHI - dexpus NYR - Darko Thanks! aquaman
  17. Yeah, you will likely get in to the GENs league. There is an A tier (the best), a B and sometimes more, and they might have more than one group, too (for A1, A2, B1, B2, etc.) GENs definitely has a more active community, so I would stick with that . (Although the SNES has better and less glitchy software for online play, so if you prefer SNES, that is the way to go.) Welcome!
  18. You are like Rain Man... seem to have photographic memory or something. But you never did answer if you think that Passing rating reflects the passing skill/accuracy when a player is controlled by a user (not CPU-controlled)? Plabax says he thinks so, but minimally... your thoughts?
  19. To be clear, you are saying that you have observed that when CPU-controlled, higher Passing rating means higher passing completion. However, when player controlled, you do not know if Passing rating has an impact? If I have the above correct, what is your feeling? (I figured it was a no brainer that the higher the Passing rating, the greater the passer [whether human controlled or CPU-controlled] just like Shot Power or Speed. But come to think of it, I thought similarly about Checking rating, and had that wrong.)
  20. I am no guru, but here is my $.02... When you pass, the CPU takes 3 things into consideration: 1. the direction you are pressing wit d-pad 2. who on your team is near that general area (and how far away*) 3. what is your passing rating (of the passer) Players miss passes, and one timers, all the time. Just look at the passing % of everyone. It is common to miss more than half of your passes! (I just looked up one example: http://nhl94online.com/html/box_score.php?gameid=24236which is featuring 2 of the best coaches. Neither has greater than 50% in that game.) The only advice I can offer is don't pass to a player too close to you, especially with your goalie. (Which is why point #2 above gets the *) Aside from that, we all share your passing frustration. (Though like Pearate, I hope others have some tips!)
  21. What version of AIM are you using? The web app, the desktop app or a mobile app? My advice would be whichever one you are using, try another. I know for me (also in Canada) awhile ago the desktop app stopped working for me, but the web app still worked. Also, the mobile app was at one point (and maybe still) not supported in Canada. Still, you can find it out there and do a "rogue" install if you google. Hope this helps. If you have more questions about AIM, please start another thread so we can stay on that topic there.
  22. I am with Raph. No manual goalie is a killer. That's it right there. Aside from that, no one timers sucks, too. Fighting was fun. I am a '94 guy, too. (Like most, but not all.)
  23. Ok, I was there but didn't see you last night. No biggie. But can u pencil me in for 10pm EST this Monday Oct 3? Thx man!
  24. That is what it says in the manual, that when you don't already have the puck, a "B" will change to your closest player to the puck. But we all know there is other logic involved, because it doesn't always work when you want it to, and often works too well when you don't want it to. (Especially when you want to switch to a D-man as your opponent skates past your forwards towards your net! Dammit, switch to THEM!!!) I am no expert, and my methods are not recommended, but I do tend to "Mash B" 2-3 times in quick succession when I am going for a poke check. I have read others that have better laser precision, and pull off the one-click poke check, but not me. I am a masher. (Slumps head.)
  25. This is true. There is a top half and bottom half of A. (Top half you call Elite.) And B is guys that are decent, and (usually) have experience playing online. (There are a couple new guys I have seen in the past year that somehow start at mid-B skill level, like CBK. He would have won any "C" entry level league, probably.) Then C, guys that are new to online play. I don't see a D level myself. I would group it with C.
