The Russian Rocket
And the Blues got what they deserved for trading a guy who was 24-9 for them. (Halak) Losing their last 6, Miller was abysmal both in regular season (10-8 ,903) and in the playoffs (2-4 ,897)And they traded a 1st round pick for those 20 games. Already talks that they should let him go : http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/craig-custance/post?id=2450Yet another crumble for this star crossed franchise. And this time it was well deserved. trudatman
I can understand why they thought they were improving the team, but it was a bad move. big time.
IceStorm70
Let's be honest tho, another big reason they lost was lack of scoring. Their ST killed them today. Didn't think miller was a good fit for STL either. Strong rumors out there the Blues asked Miller to play deeper in his net. If that's true they eff'ed things up right there. Miller is always at his best when he's out challenging shooters and trusting his defenseman have the back side. Didn't see any challenging this series at all. He'll end up out in Ana
IceStorm70
Let's not forget another big mistake trade by Doug Armstrong: David Perron for Magnus Paajarvi. Paajarvi didn't even play in the series. Think Perron might've helped on the 2/29 PP?
hokkeefan
I don't think the timing was very good for acquiring Miller ,he was used of being blitzed all year , BUT blaming miller for Stl not beating the STANLEY CUP CHAMPS is pretty weak. The Russian Rocket
Heh he played really bad, cost a 1st round pick and it took away the chance to play from a guy who had one of the top 5 playoff performances of the decade. So in all and all a terrible move for STL that certainly didnt help...
NorthwayNative
How about focusing on how great of a series it was? 4 of 6 games went to OT with numerous last-minute comebacks and dramatic game-winners. Can't ask for much more as a hockey fan.
Sicarius
Let's not forget another big mistake trade by Doug Armstrong: David Perron for Magnus Paajarvi. Paajarvi didn't even play in the series. Think Perron might've helped on the 2/29 PP? The Perron move was about two things. Freeing up some payroll and Perron being a diva & not fitting with Hitchcock. I would rather have Perron than Paajarvi but it is what it is. I was at Games 1 & 2. Going into the series I thought Chi would win in 5 or 6 especially the way the Blues faltered down the stretch. The turning point was game 2 & the Backes fiasco. I was actually in that corner about 10 rows off the ice so had a first hand look at the Seabrooke hit. The series hinged on us losing Backes & Chi having star player power. There is no superstar player on the Blues. You could make a case for 5 on Chicago if you include Keith. It will be interesting to see if anything takes place this year with Backes & Keith or Seabrooke. I've watched hockey now for 34 years, ever since age 5. Somehow, Someway it seems like Karma plays itself out on the ice. Lindros is a prime example. One thing about Backes is he has a reputation around the league for being a dirty player. He's really not. Maybe the goofiest thing he did was go after Mckinnon from Col but that was more to show Col there was going to be some sort of payback for taking runs at our guys like Shattenkirk. Backes I think is hated cause he checks and checks and checks some more. Every team would love to have Backes in their lineup.
