Jlsegafan2001
I’m still confused about the edit page. I'm using iHex for my first rom hack, and I’m editing the side with the player’s name. Thing is, for example, what is the “dDC$DBD” beside Dave Gagner’s name? That’s why I’m confused.
tru
might we see a screenshot of your trouble spot?
tru
you know... never mind that for now. your first attempt is going to be a confusing mess no matter what. I think prerequisites may be watching some youtube hex hacking tutorials and reading then rereading the three main ROM editing sections of this messageboard. we would probably be spinning some overkill until you poke around at your own pace a bit more. Jlsegafan2001
In this photo, it is the 0C1#. It's for a rom hack of NHL 95.
kingraph
The data right after a player name is 8 bytes for their player ratings. What hack are you trying to do for '95? I am in the middle of a pretty hefty hack myself: forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/18130-nhl95-expanded-rom-project/
Jlsegafan2001
OK. It's a hack that involves replacing the players with characters that I created- some of which are humanizations of Sonic the Hedgehog characters.

Sorry, it's still not clear what you are looking to do or what you would need help with. Do you just want to replace names of the players? Change the sprite graphics? Replace player card photos? If you can be more specific in your question or goal, that would help get you an answer.
Jlsegafan2001
Well... I want to change all of those, as well as the ratings.
kingraph
I'd suggest starting here: http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/8090-gens-editing-the-game-thread-guide-newbs-start-here/ Give it a shot and then come back if you have any specific issues. Good luck, I hope it works out!

It could be the length of the player name (which you'd need to edit in the number side of the hex editor). However... This is Sega not SNES, right? You can use the NOSE NHL92-98 editor to edit players super easily. You can download it here: http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/forum/18-nose/

tru
I used DarWINE with success. gotta have some support files available, if I remember right. it prompts with a message, search for the file it mentions and drop it into the folder from a download.
