I've moved the Stages to Word docs, this will make for a cleaner first post and easier access. I made the mistake of not doing this earlier and it almost cost me all the information. Learn and evolve. Thank you to the NHL Forum for letting me continue this project here and for the help @chaos gave me to get all this information back. Thank you all and please feel free to ask questions.

Just know there is no time table for when this game will be "released". If you see the beginning date of the thread I started on TBorg, you will see it has been a long work in progress. (And we started hacking TSB3 about 5 years before this post) It is nearing completion though, so follow along, ask questions and make suggestions. Tecmo Super Bowl III will be a 32 team rom soon!
This thread is intended to be just a spot for the TSB fans to follow the process of the our TSB4 rom project. Here we will post each stage of converting the season from 30 teams / 6 divisions to 32 teams / 8 divisions. We will post coding we may need help on, updates on the status of certain codes, screen shots and videos. Stage Titles will be in "red" until completion. Once the Stage is complete it will be in "green". At some point the betas will be released in this thread. Something like this has not been tried on this site, and seeing as me and my brother (Hurricane55) are going in uncharted SNES waters, I thought this would give everyone a basic idea of what we do as we edit this game and maybe get some help on parts we might be stuck on. I will try not to jump around, but if we hit a dead spot, I will move to another section until I can figure out what ever issue we might have. This should be a great guide once we are done. The hacks we will need to do will pretty much cover the processes of hacking text, mapping sprite locations, and data adding (we will have to add 2 division that will be able to be selected in the menus). Also, I still have some cut scene hacking to do, and once you edit one cut scene, you'll have an outline of how to hack the remaining. I will be adding individual spreadsheets for backgrounds and cut scene sprites when I get to those edits. I'm going to try and keep this thread as nice and orderly as possible for easier navigation for future edits.

Hey, so I started this project earlier on in Covid, I was hoping to have it released just prior to the NHL playoff return but it's taken me a lot longer to finish than anticipated. I'm almost done now but need your help to finish. I wanted to update the SNES ROM to 2020 rosters based on the 24 teams that qualified for the Covid-playoffs. As an extra, I'm throwing in a Seattle Kraken team composed of random teams 9th and 4th best Forwards/Defensemen and goalies I think might have a chance at the roster. Let's see if I get any right. I also put together a Top Prospects team of 2020 draft eligible players like Lafreniere, Byfield etc. This rounds out the 26 NHL teams on the ROM. To finish, I thought it would be fun to remember the super stacked and awesome SNES - A East and West season we had with updating the All Stars East and West rosters to match SNES-A players.

Forum names are fine but I prefer to use real names so I'm asking for some help to fill in the blanks. The names I do have are from world rankings so if you can reply here with your name or if you know the name of another forum player that would be great. For the rosters I plan on using 9F, 6D, 2G. I don't plan on changing any player attributes, just updating the name and I've ranked the players based on how they finished the seasons. I doubt anyone wants to be goalies so I've made them Chaos and Smoz as a thank you for their help as admins. Halifax will be on the West team and KingRaph will be on the East team so they don't need any extra thanks lol.

I first want to preface by saying I know basically nothing about ROM Hacking, but I do have some tools and I am familiar with the SNES. Ken Griffey Jr's Winning Run on SNES is one of my favorite games of all time. If there's one thing that I wish the game had was updated Rosters, as well as all 30 Teams, (Currently it only has 28.) However, nobody has figured out how to add more teams to the team select. The good news is, the missing teams do exist in game, as they are "unlockable" in a sense through a secret mode, but they aren't playable. So, in other words, it would be a sort of "Ken Griffey Jr's Winning Run 2022" or something like that.

Along with updating the Team Select Menus, there are also issues such as updating team logos. Since they are fully rendered-3D, It would be difficult to replicate them (I've tried through my own Pixelart strategies.) Although there probably is a way to take a 3D model, and then take pictures of it rotating, then rendering them in 16-bit, but I haven't figured out how to do that.

There also comes to fixing the Playoff Format, since it only contains one Wild Card Team per Conference, it would need to be adjusted to allow 2 Wild Card Teams + An additional Playoff Round.

Additionally, the Schedule would have to be made to allow Interleague games. The base game is created so the regular season only allows you to play against teams withing the same conference as you. An additional bar would have to be made so the schedule can allow the occasional Interleague game as well.

There are many other changes that would have to be made, but if the game got this treatment, that would be sick. I am first curious as to how anyone would get started on this, as well as if anyone themselves has already gotten to work on a project like this/hopes for the same thing as I do.

For thos who are interested, I also have made a Discord dedicated to the Ken Griffey Jr series, where I will additionally be focusing on this type of project. It's kinda dead, but it's not a server that's really meant to be active unless something actually gets made, but anyone is welcome to join.

Anyways, I'm interested in hearing your guys' thoughts. I'm excited to hear what you all have to say. Peace.

I am almost definitely not going to be completing another current-rosters ROM without at least one serious partner, but I am here and willing to work. if you would like to help with the other "half" of the tasks, I am very much willing to contribute, so please let it be known how you'd wish to precede. I do this much all of the time anyway:
