Getting Started

I've had problems in connecting and making games on the ZNES lately. It either freezes and stops the emulator from running or the other guy doesn't have the rom in his remote location and thus the game doesn't load. This has really popped out too often for my liking, so I need some solutions.

Is it legal to download the NHL94 update and gens emulator from here? Or anywhere? Thanks

Where do you go if you are looking for a pick up game? I see a lot of people have AIM accounts. Do you just set up an AIM account and then keep adding people who play to your list?

Yesteyday I have problems with my USB gamepad while playing with nats and in the 4th game it got very inconsistent and from there it stopped working. I didn't test the gamepad till this morning and I can't even get the analog switch to turn on. The mouse is okay, but my gamepad isn't! I don't know what else to do, since it doesn't show up on the Game Controllers menu anymore.

I just got a windows vista laptop and for some reason when I open the GENS emu the screen cuts in half any suggestions?

hi Just wondering if anyone has a video or step by step instructions on doing a slap deke? Just started playing NHL 94 on Gens. Way better than the SNES version. SNES has some good features, differences. Genesis/Sega CD Best Version. Hands Down. PC version Ok

What is your opinion? I haven´t find out which is the best Emulator for the best and smoothest gameplay experiense. I normally use Kega Fusion or Gens. But I got to say the game ain´t the same as with the real Megadrive. I have tried almost everything. Sometimes i feel that if I use my Emulators with my older computers, the FPS gets smoother and better. My system is Windows XP SP3. The problem is not bad, but it is there. Or is there some trick? I installed Genesis-BIOS to my Emulator (Kega) and it helped a bit.

alright so i've had this awful aim problem for a while... for some reason some people do not show up online i was just wondering if anyone has had this problem and knows how to fix it

Hey all. I'm still trying to successfully play an online game. I'm almost there but I'm having a problem. I can get myself and my friend in to a game session by going through netplay and doing the start game, join game, etc. The game screen pops up for both of us but no matter who starts the game, as opposed to joining the game, the controller won't work for the one who is "joining". When I go in to play the game, I can see that the players for both teams are responding to the controls of the one singular working controller. Has anyone seen this happen? yea so i noticed people have been using hamachi more and most the time for me it runs completely smooth, virtually no lag introduced. but sometimes when i ping people before i play them it times out and when i play these people it lags. i saw it said on the new revised getting started section of nhl94online.com (thanks evan) "Note: Some internet security software has firewall settings that will block certain traffic to and from your computer. What's the difference between GENS A, B and C?

Hey guys, I played Evan the other night and the game was real laggy (he kicked my ass). I was wondering if it may have been my firewall? I have Vista and run Windows Firewall. For most programs it will ask me if I want to grant them access, but it did not for Gen. I know why, but my question is how do I get around it? Do I need to check the port before I join any server? And telling me to stop running Windows Firewall or Vista is not an answer.

So my controller, which works for every other emulator and computer game, does not seem to work for Gens. When I attempt to configure, the game crashes. Does anybody know how I can work around this, without buying a new controller? Cheers, Mike

I have a mac and a working emulator with nhl 94 but do i need a specific emulator and version of the game? any help is appreciated, my AIM is WbLjR13

Hi all, when I fire up my gens-netplay emulator, the "noise" is a different color altogether, and when I open a rom, it doubles (screenshots below) on the emulator. Any thoughts as to how I can fix this? Its happened before but a quick reboot usually fixes it. I've also deleted the gens files and re-installed as well. Every time I opened Gens emulator, the screen would turn dark ("flash") for a quick second, and when the screen came back, the Gens emulator would be opened and ready to go. I've noticed that after this flash, there are some graphical glitches, with small white outlines appearing on all icons, some icons such as the quick launch Firefox and IE looking weird with rough edges, the yellow folder icons looking weird as well, and most notably, the normally blue winamp mp3 icons turning white. But I every time I closed Gens, the screen would flash again, and the graphical glitches would disappear. Well, about a week ago, Firefox crashed for some reason and my taskbar disappear…

i have had a few games with people who use wireless routers, and in some cases i notice considerable lag. i was wondering if wireless routers can cause lag? i tend to think they do but some people disagree. i was wondering what you guys think, maybe talk about about other causes of lag that not everyone knows about like.. should you close all your programs including AIM when playing?

hey guys... im a new here... and i have a question... ive been playing nhl 94 with my friends for a while now.. i know on the sega you can use the 4-way play to play with more than 2 players... is there any way to play with more than 2 players through an emulator online?

I have been having AIM problems with random people it makes some people that are online offline including feivel whom I have to play in 94/09 league so I was just wondering if anyone knows how to fix the problem and I'm asking feivel when a good time is for us to play
