I picked up a 20' Sony, PVM (Professional Video Monitor) CRT and some RGB Retrovision cables, recently. I did a comparison and wanted to share the results. Best picture I've ever gotten, easily. Better than any emulator I've played on as well. The comparison LCD is a Dell AIO. Everyone is familiar with these. RCA or RF really doesn't do justice to how great the SNES and Genesis can look. Thankfully, both consoles output RGB natively without any mods. Up until recently you had to use a scaler, like an Framemeister or X-RGB Mini, which are really expensive or get SCART cables to pull this off. I did a post on pixelpuck a few years ago before I took the site down about SCART & RGB on a Genesis. It was a big PITA and I couldn't get near this level of quality. These Retrovision, RGB cables are pretty amazing, especially when combined with the RollsRoyce of gaming motors. SNES Comparison Genesis Comparison If you like to play on old hardware, I would definitely recommend getting a Sony PVM CRT and pair of Retrovision for your SNES or Genesis. The results speak for themselves. There's going to be lot of CRT's at Waves but I will probably be lugging this guy to Toronto for KO94-4. Hopefully it can be put to good use.

@chaos If they don't want them, Jesus' Salvage, BBQ Towing and Notary Service can oblige. @kingraph Apparently a good way to find one is just to email every local broadcast studio, university and news station in a 30 mile radius and ask them if they have any tube monitors that they no longer need. A lot of people who are persistent have gotten huge hauls. For most of these places, you're solving a problem. I plan to do this next week myself as I'm smitten with these PVM's.

Thinking about letting go of my complete copy of NHL Hockey (94) for the computer. Any interested people can hit me back either here or on discord. Asking 100 plus shipping. A little backstory: Over the course of about 4 or 5 years I probably bought every single copy of NHL Hockey for PC off ebay. These would only pop up maybe twice or so per year but ebay would send me a notification on each occasion. I even had it bookmarked at one time which I checked daily. Long story short, I bought them everytime! I would then compare and contrast each and every piece included out of each copy, concluding with this master copy. The best of the best condition from around 10 combined copies over years of ebay searches!

Tried getting the group rate at the Courtyard-Marriot where you guys are staying, but reservations could not find "Andromeda or Wave" on their list. They currently only have King/sofa combos available for the weekend. I've booked myself into the Monte Carlo (I booked through Hotwire - but I see the same price now on Expedia which offers free cancellation). I'm arriving Friday afternoon, and will be ready for exis and 2v2. If there is a room, or small meeting room in either hotel where we can set-up - I'm happy to pitch in some money.

This tournament looked amazing with the set-ups in front of the astronaut display, and the golden cartridge for the winner. I posted those pics on my instagram because they're so cool. Now everyone thinks I won, and I probably won't correct them.

Hey Everyone, Just like last year, I am posting my "Way Too Early Edition" for NHL94 2020. August is very boring for NHL hockey so hopefully, this makes it a little more fun. Here's what you need to know about the rom: *Link for the ROM is below the in-game images. *The "Winnipeg Freeze Bug" exists on this rom as it affects all 32 team roms in this forum. *All RFAs, who are currently unsigned, are in the rom. I also included Joe Thornton, even though he is unsigned, as he is rumored to be coming back to SJ. *Each team has the same roster structure (like my regular season roms). Each team has 3 goalies, 14 forwards and 8 defensemen for you to choose from prior to a game. *This ROM is a “healthy/best case scenario” ROM. That means, most injured players are in the line-ups. I prefer it that way as it is more fun to play. *Line combinations (like my regular season rom) are two scoring lines plus one "checking" or "shutdown" line. *31 NHL Teams. *32nd team is a 2020 Prospects team (featuring Alexis Lafreniere & Quinton Byfield). *Kenny Albert serves the new “Ron Barr” in this rom. Any and all feedback is welcome and appreciated! Like last season, I'll likely do a pre-season version before posting a regular season version. If you catch any mistakes/errors, please let me know. Cheers! -The Sauce NHL94 2020 Way Too Early Edition.bin

Hi all Off the bat, I should mention that I am a newbie to editing NHL94. I have waded through the forum and have collated a lot of (really useful) information in relation to editing the BIN for the Megadrive / Genesis version of the game but could do with some advice before cracking on. As a starting point, I plan on create a version of NHL94 that is tailored to the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) in Great Britain. Whilst a pretty modest league compared to other European leagues (both in fan base and quality), the league has its fanatics (including myself) and I figure that it is worth taking some time to get a working BIN in order that can be updated each season. Who knows, it might even lead to the odd local tournament, given how close knit the supporters tend to be. (My username comes from my local team – Manchester Storm.) The EIHL features 10 teams, each with a roster of around 20 players. The 2019/20 season starts in September and the final kits and rosters for many of the teams are still to be finalised but, up to now, I have undertaken the following preparatory work: Rosters I have collated the roster details that are currently available for each team in Excel (ranging from 70% to 100% complete, depending on the team) (i.e. name, position, jersey number, dominant hand and weight). I am planning on using NOSE to input these into the BIN. Weight brackets I have prepared a basic formula in Excel that converts the kg weights I have to lbs and then places them into the NHL94 brackets (rounding down or up to the closest weight bracket as appropriate). I am planning on using NOSE to input these into the BIN. Player attributes I have prepared a (basic) formula in Excel for randomising attributes for each player based on the league position of their team during the 2018/19 season and by reference to the range of attributes for the Cardiff Devils team in NHL19 (as the sole EIHL team in the game). This is because rosters in the EIHL routinely change completely in the off-season and the players can be unknown quantities, so this seems a pretty good / fair way of ensuring that the top teams are of a higher standard than the lower ones within certain pre-defined ranges. I am planning on exporting the attributes from the BIN using the NHL Hockey Roster Tool, replacing them wholesale with the new ones and then importing them back into the BIN. Logos and player cards I have collecting PNG versions of the 10 team logos ready for conversion to useable 16 bit images. I will collate images for certain players (to replace the NHL player cards) as things progress. In terms of what I would like to do to the game (in an ideal world), the plan would be to (in order of processing): reduce the selectable teams to 10 (using EARE); change the name of the ROM (using EARE); update the rosters for the teams, deleting any unused players in each roster (or adding new ones as required) (using NOSE); update the attributes for the (new) players (using the NHL Hockey Roster Tool); change the kit colours for each team; change the ice logos for each team (or use a generic EIHL logo for the time being, as long as it does not interfere with the kit colours) (using a combination of Genesis Image Ditherer and Tile Molester, if I can figure it out!); update the kit colours to reflect the 2019/20 kits (using NOSE?); update the team banners to reflect the update kits and team names (using Tile Molester); update the Ron Barr text so that Aaron Murphy is referred to as the commentator (a Freesports commentator that covers EIHL games in GB) (in Hex Workshop); replace Barr’s photo with one of Murphy (using Genesis Image Ditherer and Tile Molester); update the game text generally so that references to the NHL and Stanley Cup are replaced with EIHL and EIHL Play-Off Trophy (instead of referring to the PredictorBet Play-Off Trophy) (in Hex Workshop); and replace the opening splash screen with an EIHL image and some EIHL-related text under the NHL text (i.e. “NHL 94 (EIHL Edition)”) (using Genesis Image Ditherer and Tile Molester). My knowledge of hexadecimal is pretty much zero, so I suspect that a lot of this is going to be very much trial-and-error, although there is a wealth of information on these forums that I can work with as a starting point (thanks!). I suppose that my main questions at this (early) stage, which are probably pretty basic compared to many questions that get asked here, are: is the order above sensible or is it going to cause me any issues when editing (e.g. will changing the rosters first cause problems when updating the player cards); and does anyone have any practical recommendations about how to go about updating the BIN (e.g. in terms of preparation and workflow order). Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Si

Was a ton of fun playing the game again with my brother tonight. It’s been about 20 years?!! We were pretty rusty but got better fast. My little nephew had a blast. He got to play with his uncle and daddy. He also got better as the night progressed and started to score. I gave my nephew Boston since he likes super villains. My brother chose McJesus and his Oilers. A couple thoughts from playing NHL94 again: • the game was far more pixelated than I remembered (it was a huge TV, though). But I got fairly used to it • for whatever reason, I found the Naples 2018 ROM easier to get the hang of than the Skip ROM. Not sure what the actual difference is between the two other than 75% burst speed on Naples. • regaining the ability to leverage the game’s subtleties and nuances were much tougher than expected. I didn’t score a single pass shot • I learned that I have zero motivation to play the original NHL 94 version, even though it’s what I grew up with. Am just really excited to play with the new team line ups and all the bug fixes and tweaks. We just kept passing on the opportunity to play the original • need to upgrade one of my controllers ASAP and figure out how to get the Y button working for immediate control of the goalie. A mapping issue, probably. • And ... I need to work on my defense.

Amazing prep Don't hesitate to ask questions if you get stuck on anything. #1 tip: keep multiple backups as you go, so if ever you realize you made a mistake, you can go back to an earlier ROM.

Hi folks! Great to join the community. Have wanted to get involved for a couple years now. But it wasn’t until this summer that the stars finally aligned. I’ve only ever played ‘94 (and only on the original console and cartridge). However, tomorrow I’ll be playing a ROM for the first time as me and my brother introduce the game to my 6 year old nephew. Have decided to take my nephew directly to the 2018 ROM so that he can get to know today’s league and pick his own modern day team. Can’t wait to play again; learn how NHL 94 has evolved these last 25 years; and get to know this community. Am amazed by what has been accomplished. Cheers!

NE PA, moving back to Philly, soon. What hobbies or other interests do you have? Doing nothing is my first love. I also have a million other interests, like most people. When did you get introduced to the game NHL'94? How did it happen? I had a hard scrabble up bringing. We were very hard up. We didn't have a pot to piss in. In fact, I remember as a young child, my mother waking me up in the dead of the night and forcing me to break into other peoples homes just so we could piss in their pots. The prospect of my family affording a video game was out of the question, I had to look for what little work was available. Eventually I settled on becoming a paper boy. I remember toiling away, my tiny hands black with newspaper print looking like a breaker boy from the mines. I would roll newpapers into plastic sleeves for hours on end while praying for child protective services to rescue me.It was grueling work for a kid with just a Mongoose BMX bike to his name. To compound my drudgery, my paper route was littered with psychotic break dancers, tornadoes, random used tires, and once I was even visited by the grim specter of death during my paper route. I somehow survived and eventually had enough coinage to purchase my own copy of NHL'94. Having spent the previous year absorbing radiation from the CRT TV in the living room playing NHLPA'93 with my cohorts, I knew that NHL'94 was my ticket to a better life; out of the slums and into the sweet life of the upper-middle class and interminable debt. When did you get introduced to nhl94.com and the online community? Were you playing between these two dates? (That is, between first becoming aware of game, and first becoming aware of nhl94.com.) In the bowels of a sports forum called the Nose Bleed section, there was a sub forum for all the knaves and rejects. I used to talk about NHL'94 with @don16086 and @mack. Don told me that there was this new NHL'94 site being worked on. I knew my prayers had been answered. I realized that not only could i waste my youth playing NHL'94, but my adulthood as well. What are a couple things that you love about the game? 2on2. Are you a gamer in general? What other games do you play? I had a museum worth of games at one time. Arcade cabinets and PC's and consoles, but one can only handle so much involuntary celibacy. I don't really play anything anymore. But I still consider myself a gamer since I've spent like 10,000 hours of my life playing video games. Do you follow hockey in real life? Any other sports? Most of the time when I watch other sports I think about how great the game would be if the two teams I'm watching were actually playing hockey. Hockey is the only sport I really care about. Baseball and Football and stuff is just to distract me from the fact that there is no hockey to watch right now. If you have been to a live tourney, what was it like meeting the real people behind the screen names? Any big surprises? I went to the NHLPA'93 Kumite as Tanaka Clan. I forgot the password to get in but by a stroke of luck, I guessed, "OKAY USA," and I got in. NHL'94-4 in Toronto will be my first NHL'94 tournament. I will be wearing glasses this time so that no one can throw dust in my eyes. What is behind your screen name? (Origin story, if there is one.) Well, I won it, kind of. Back when I used to ride the rails, I was in a fight with a 130lb hobo over a bag of Wise potato chips who was wielding a railroad spike. I beat him with a grandfather clock. All of this while I was in the midst of creating my account. I typed my user name and password in cold blood for the first time. That's how I got my name, similar to how Iceberg Slim go this name; we have a lot in common. The rest is history. Favorite NHL94 player in game (and why)? Shot power is, in video game parlance, the 'spread gun' of attributes to me, so I like players such as Al Iafrate. I get really loud and yell with a s**t eating grin, "WHAT ARE YOU IAFRATE OF?" and then I unleash a skullet missile from the high slot and yell, "IAFRATE BIG BLAST." All. Damn. Day. True story.

The fake shot is something Kaneda and I figured out. I just stopped working on ROM updates after NHL15, or whatever one has Brodeur on the cover. Basically, we found the, 'whiff shot'. The one where you try to shoot and the animation for shooting the puck is shown, but nothing happens and the 'whiff' sound effect it played. We planned on mapping this to the Z button - Y was already set to goalie control and X was going to be used for line changes - IIRC the goalie bites every time, making it really easy to score. Would have liked to see how players would have used this, especially on breakaways against manually controlled goalies.

You can participate in up to 4 events: Saturday: [Sega] King of 94 ($50) OR Duke of 94 ($15) [Sega] Duke of NBA Jam TE ($15) Sunday: [SNES] King of 94 ($50) OR Duke of 94 ($15) [SNES] Duke of NBA Jam TE ($15) There's also a $17 Venue fee, which you pay once but covers admission for both days. So for example if you want to play Sega King of 94, SNES Duke of 94, and SNES NBA Jam, it's $17(venue) + $50(sega king 94) + $15(snes duke 94) + $15(snes duke jam) = $97. Sorry we couldn't get it add up to 94. The King tournaments guarantee 7 games. The Duke tournaments guarantee 4 games. The 94 Duke tournament has simpler rules (no manual goalie, use any team) and is meant to be the casual event. The venue helped us put together some good hotel deals. Possibly some flight deals, but I haven't heard any updates on that front.

We are back for the 4th annual NHL'94 Tournament to be held at the Long Island Retro Gaming Expo on Saturday August 10th! Previous Champs 2016 - @angryjay93 beats @Evan in the finals! (also beat @MikeGartner22 in the semis!) 2017 - @corbettkb beats @smozoma (who took out @Lupz27 in semis) 2018 - @corbettkb goes back to back, taking out @MikeGartner22 (and @skoolyardpuck in semis) to win his 2nd in a row. Will Tex be able to complete the 3 peat? I am hoping a lot of the NYC tournament guys make it out the the LI Expo, it won't be an easy task! You can see the previous Challonge brackets and videos in the LI threads for reference, this tournament is always a good time. And it's FREE as part of your paid admission to the LI Retro Expo. The Expo is a great place to explore and play in other tournaments too, I highly recommend attending. I will post more in the very near future as we about 2 months away!

Congrats bud. I bought a Framemeister years ago when I added an NESRGB board to my NES. RGB made it look like a whole new console. I then bought all the cables for the rest of my systems. Modded my SNES Jr. (only the old SNES outputs RGB without a mod), and was living the life. Then, early last year, I was able to pick up a 20" PVM free from work (looks just like yours). It was in MN, so I packed the living hell out of it and shipped it to myself back in NJ. It's so much more enjoyable to play on there than on the Plasma with my Framemeister. Now, the Framemeister just sits there. It's a sad story for the little guy. Then, a month or so ago, I picked up a 14" PVM for free (well it was broken). Fixed it up and we used it at the tourney. Worked at a museum in Phili last week, they has 2 PVMs and a BVM laying around. I'm not sure if I can take them though. These things went for big money back in the day. Now people just rip you off on eBay selling these. I think PVMs were $2-5k new (depending on size), BVMs (Broadcast Video Monitor) were in the 10k range. The reason they are so much better than a traditional CRT, is the line count and the quality of the tube. A line count on a reg. CRT maybe below 300 lines. On a PVM they are 600-800 lines (depending on the model). And the tubes are made to last a long time. Even playing on a $20 CRT, composite video looks much better than on an LCD.

Wow that's impressive. And the goalie bites every time? That's very interesting. With the way I implemented a fake shot through holding this stop loose puck code I found as a hotkey while pressing shoot, the goalie doesn't seem to bite. This stop puck code I found when held also allows me to make line changes on the fly without having to go behind my team's goal or without clearing it, with the puck just staying with the player as you press A. Could you provide any insight on how you found that whiff shot? That would be a fun thing to test if possible. I'm happy to share my stop loose puck code if you're interested, I guess I would just share it as a RAM code, but you'd need some way to map it to a hotkey. I'm really interested in testing your whiff shot code because it sounds like a true hidden control and may be specific to 1P or 2P rather than just a loose puck stop code like I am using. And if you found a true whiff shot code, maybe there are other controls nearby that memory address that are other hidden controls. For example, I'm looking for a code / button that causes a player to wobble / lose his balance, you know that animation that sometimes happens when you run into a player, I have a theory that if I could trigger that I could use before running into the goalie to avoid getting knocked down by the goalie.

Seeing how I've grown to become disinterested with the recent NHL outings from EA Sports ("It's Still the Same!"), I had the itch to go back to what I perceive to be the second funnest hockey gaming experience I had next to NHL '94 (on the Sega Genesis of course). I got both NHL '96 and NHL 2002 running on Windows 10, and now I'm in search of any add-ons that may be available for any of the NHL PC games from 1996-2002. Luckily we had an awesome forum member archive a ton of great NHL '95 PC files, so I was hoping that maybe someone out there archived and saved some of the great add-on files that were available to us back in the glory days of hockey gaming on the PC. Funny enough, I actually used to do very detailed NHL rosters dating back to NHL '95 and I eventually wound up with a job in the industry thanks to my attention to detail . If you guys ever had the chance to enjoy the NHL 2K games and appreciated the classic rosters, that was my work You may notice a slight slant in teams that covered the NHL '94 era of teams, and that wasn't any coincidence! I'm hoping there's some underground network of NHL PC gamers who are still lurking out there...

New here. My love stretches way back for NHL 94 and hockey in general. NHL 93 and 94 shaped me as a person. Allow me to explain in weird bullet points: • I fell in love with hockey and started playing NHL 93 as the age of 12. • As a kid I played roller hockey (not much ice hockey in Kentucky lol) and carried a puck around in my pocket. Weird.... • NHL 94 came out and I was obsessed. I still say it's the best sports game ever made (NBA Jam and NFL 2k5 are runners up!) • I taped over my 5th grade talent show VHS with the 94 Stanley Cup Finals. Guess who beat my a**... my mom lol. • I grew up and finally started playing ice hockey. Became a coach and dabbled in reffing. I cannot wait to rekindle my love with this game! I'd be happy to get my ass kicked by you all sometime!

I don't think a separate post about the bug will help. Might want to just lead the main post with "NOTE: (bug details)" and then repeat that right above the downloads. In this thread it's kind of buried in the middle. One thing I learned from running Blitz league, is the longer something is, the more people will ignore in it. So given that Blitz league lesson, maybe do it this way: When you create a new rom thread, make 2 posts in the thread right away. The first post is very short, and contains only the most relevant info, the ROM, and the warning about the bug. The 2nd post contains less critical details/notes, pictures, etc.

I miss the days of hockey gaming when it was 2K vs EA. The biggest asset to EA was the PC game modding. The only reason the community was so much bigger was due to that. I honestly feel that if 2K sports made a PC port, that it would probably have forced EA to push the "next gen" version (in 2008) to PC. But they had no competition so they left PC gamers with a dead-ass version after 2005. I used to mod the crap out of those games. Sometimes when I feel the urge, I'll whip something up for NHL 2001 and throw it in for fun just to see if I've still got the skills.

Modding old games on a Mac is an uphill battle. No one used macs back when a lot of this stuff was created. It's not anyone's fault that you can't get Windows programs to run on your Mac, just like you can't play a SNES game on a Genesis. If you're not the type to solve these issues by researching, experimenting, or asking clear questions, then you're much better off just getting a cheap Windows computer, because from our perspective you're just complaining rather than trying to solve your problem. Start saving up or put it on your Christmas list.

Just to share the resolution - yes, the fatigue problem was only on the device I was using. The fatigue works fine on my new Everdrive.

Its okay brutus I understand. I guess I was more trying to say in hindsight that maybe we should have focused on vet retention all through the years more. But I know its neither here nor there as theyre all pretty much gone Yeah this forum does sound a lot like the real world rn. I mean I totally understand getting rid of the usage of "gay" "retard" etc as insults, as I even feel bad when I let one slip around the house. It's wrong and im fully on board with that I just want to be able to call someone a b***h when I feel its necessary / I want to

Assigning a vet coach to each newby as a mentor would be helpful. I did this once with a new guy and we ended up having many email conversations to answer the hundreds of questions he had about getting connected, leagues, exis, the forum, etc. It was easier to ask the questions and get answers in this one on one way. He ended up being a thriving member of the community for several years.

Obviously one of the largest barriers to play is the effort required to actually install and tweak the software to be able to connect. Would be awesome if we could streamline the installation process, as well as the game set-up time. It becomes second nature for most - but if you consider the number of steps required to play your first game, it's pretty crazy.

I'm pretty sure you already can do these...or I'm just crazy... Besides fighting, I would fix that ridiculous bug where the other team's goalie being way out of the net causes your player with an empty net to shoot the puck through the roof of the arena.

unsolved bugs: * fix bugs like offside and icing onetimers not causing whistles * fix that issue where when you're chasing a puck that's being iced and you try to C boost at it to negate the icing, you get stuck in a one-timer animation for a couple seconds and lose the race * fix the bug where you get stuck as the goalie when you make a bad pass with your goalie when he's out past the faceoff circles * one-timers should be less accurate while normal shots should be more accurate * make passes on goal count as shots (due to the prevalence of the pass-shot and how it messes up the stats in leagues). or prevent pass-shots (pass must go at least roughly towards a player). maybe make pass-shots a menu item, on/off. * Ron Barr hot/cold made correct * occasionally losing "friction" and your player sliding out of control (except that it's funny, so maybe don't fix it..) * fix the bug where if the goalie makes a pokecheck on a penalty shot, the player can get the puck and shoot again. Once it's off his stick, he shouldn't be able to pick it up again. * fix the bug where, when a penalty shot is called, you can score after the whistle, before a penalty shot takes place * remove the B check (tripping) or greatly increase the likelihood to be called for a penalty, because currently it functions as an automatically successful open ice check. (note: it doesn't work with penalties turned off, so just make it not work even with penalties on. supposedly Plabax already hacked the reverse of this so B check/trip always works?) * improved AI goaltending, especially on the walk-across/crease-cut tough ones to fix: * better AI scoring maybe? * sometimes when you go to instant replay, the game goes crazy and you can crash it if you don't quickly exit instant replay * sometimes players just won't get in the penalty box and the game can not continue * add the defense buttons like SNES (for 6-button controllers) solved bugs / hacks to include: * weight bug and C/B check bug fixes, plus using the checking rating to influence checking * edit lines / team roster player ratings correct * missing 2nd assist bug fix * increased rating granularity (16 levels instead of 7) * goalie button * improved 3-stars forumula New things: * Time on Ice and +/- added to player stats display * donnybrooks, fracases.. foighting! needs to be a menu item, on/off.

Removing your goalie during a face off to push their guys out of position comes to mind. Also the trick where you take your goalie out to avoid a penalty shot is a beyond ghetto-b***h move.

Offset D50B6 and now: 98 7F = ice color. BD 7F = center area of the lights reflection and nets / glasses seams BA 7F = lights reflection and shades of the glass at the bottom of the rink / ice in the referee window 7B 6F = menu frame, letters (menu, team abbreviations, time, players...), part of the goal posts, face off spots, thin white lines surrounding red lines, circles and semi-circles around the goals 00 00 = do not edit, almost all black used in the arena, audience, menus D6 5A = rink boards, upper area AD 35 and 29 25 = do not edit DB 5A = thin lines surrounding red lines, face off spots (four pixels) 5F 4A = red lines and circles, referee's faces 3B 35 = red lines, circles and face off spots, referee's faces 4D 6E = blue lines, star indicators, centre of the puck DB 12 = boards (bottom area) and „walls“ behind the benches D2 7E = blue lines, star indicators, crease, GOAL font (in the box with a scoring player and assists) 84 10 = do not edit 72 7F = blue lines, star indicators, crease "Do not edit" values and other values behind 72 7F are values for referee's uniform, menu background, audience or for the graphics I did not spot. If you want to alter colors of the original graphics and my description is not good enough, alter the original values to 00 00 (black color) and you will have an idea what graphics are affected by the values above.

probably not too helpful, but two minutes is 120 seconds, which is '78' in the number part of a hex editor, or 'N' in the text part. Try searching for '7800' in the hex section (not the text section). Change it to '3C00' (60 = 3C hex) and hopefully that changes one of the penalties.. must be a pain to test, though

Viva las forums NHL94! Our hackings is strongest! This will set the DefCon ON before the game starts, so you can actually turn it off in the menu if you want. These addresses are for a headerless ROM. If your ROM has a header (which it probably does), add 200 to the addresses, so you get f857c and ffd30. @F837c (a bit after where the game wipes a bunch of values to 0000 which is what forced defence control to be OFF) old: 22 B2 C6 9F JSL 9F:6CB2 # Long Jump to Subroutine new: 20 30 FB EA JSR :FB30 # Jump to SubRoutine of our custome code NOP # No OPeration (space filler operation) somewhat funny that in SNES assembly, "EA" means "Do nothing" @FFB30 old: FF FF FF ..
