  1. I think if you get a super team & get to keep super players for multiple seasons & then get into the finals, it's worth having to start over. i like the idea of eventually losing your keeper team if it gets too strong to beat. i understand your pints clearly. They were well articulated with excellent analogies! i just disagree.

  2. Thanks. I have relied heavily on all of you and especially KingRaph and Ice who are the ultimate sportsmen IMO. It has been fun and created buzz. I love that guys are thinking about draft classes, building a winner, Championship windows, etc... For sure, and appreciate this thread.

  3. Lol no problem, people! I am not trying to rig the system here. There is a very strong chance I will NOT be in the finals, and not have to do a 100% rebuild. Just wanted to mention an idea, or get a dialogue going for other ideas... Coach seems very open to ideas that benefit the league as a whole. (I thought I had a good one, but I guess I came up with a stinker. :P) PS: Sorry I misrepresented your keeper situation, Jer_33. Honest mistake.

  4. Agree. Thats part of the fun of this, you have your championship window and go for it. Love how Coach set this up and prefer it stays the same. Sorry Aqua.

  5. You can't have your cake, and eat it to man! Enjoy the ride IF you get a chance at the Bailey Bobble give it all you got, and start the rebuild the following season.

  6. Basically what @Brutus said. You make the finals, that is your season to win! The following season may be a rebuilding for you, but that means some other person has a chance to win the cup/bobble head! Figuring out if this is your strong season also factors into the draft.

  7. Hey everyone, welcome to VHL5! ***League Draft to Begin WEEK OF November 10th*** VHL is a WBF draft league where we draft from the 2017-18 rosters. The excel file (below) shows the draft pool. This has been a competitive league - last season and season before final went to Game 7! **Notes for VHL5** This will be a 22 game season. Draft will not be a snaking draft. Instead, we will continue to use a true NHL style draft where we start from #1 pick again in Round 2, etc. This allows for better competitive balance, while also rewarding players who play all of their games in the previous season (penalties for not finishing all games). Playoff seeding will be separated from playoff qualification. Win % determines your playoff seeding, points determines playoff qualification. Let me know if you have any questions. The ROM attached is what we'll use (excel has complete list of players). DRAFT ORDER 1. Flatcrusher - Winnipeg 2. Chefsuperstar88 - Philadelphia 3. Kevin77 - Calgary 4. scamy89 - Nashville 5. redkarpet - Arizona 6. Jer - Toronto 7. Labs - Pittsburgh 8. dcicon - Chicago 9. Lupz - NY Rangers 10. Tex - Dallas 11. Skip - Vegas 12. Icestorm - Buffalo Waitlist/Sub List- Engelby77, Darko, AquaLizard ROM + excel file here ---> VHL5exis.bin VHL5.xls

  8. View From the Booth v.1 Oct 31, 2017 Welcome to the inaugural edition of the official NHL94.com newsletter. We hope to keep everyone informed of all that is happening in our gaming scene, with a top-down look at events, leagues, forum happenings and Discord chatter. The view from the broadcast booth is often worse than some cheap seats in the arena, but journalists require a sweeping vantage point to see everything that is happening in the game. It seemed a suitable name for a newsletter that hopes to provide a bird's eye view of NHL94 and all of it's retro hockey siblings, so take a minute to get caught up with this edition of View From the Booth . If you were lucky enough to attend the King of 94 II tournament in Las Vegas, then you likely already know the outcomes. If not, let me just say that it was an incredible display of Sega/Genesis mastery. On the Sega-side, the most probable finals outcome played out with @kingraph and @angryjay93 meeting in the final game, with Jay pulling out a 5-3 win with Detroit over Raph's Buffalo squad. On the Super Nintendo bracket, we again witnessed the ascension of a relative unknown (at least to NHL94.com community). @Jammer - KO94IIsnes was able to punch his ticket to the finals versus @Bob Kudelski and win it all with an incredible 4-3 OT victory. If you wish to relive the final hours of the tournament, including some great commentating and celebratory laps you can watch the replay on Twin Galaxies Twitch stream here. With the build-up and successful staging of King of 94 II in Las Vegas NV now behind us, Fall leagues are starting to fill-up as player interest returns. Along with interest in preseason hockey and the eventual puck-drop on the NHL season, NHL94 players are returning to the site with hopes of building on last seasons successes and again proving themselves on the ice. Now is the time to get your name in for Classic, whether a seasoned veteran, a site lurker, or new to the site.
