  1. Figure I've been using this resource long enough over the past year and a half that I should start sharing some work. While I've been concurrently working on mods of all of the Genesis hockey games produced by EA, [except for Mutant League, but who knows what the future will bring] I haven't revisited this one in about eight months, so I guess it's considered done. Introducing: TRON Turbo Hockey Developed by Kevin Flynn Published by ENCOM Annexed 9/22 by E. Dillinger Features: Based on EA Hockey (1991) for PAL regions. The "Turbo mode" is achieved by playing the game on NTSC settings. The cool part is that playing the 50 Hz game on a 60 Hz setting not only increases the frame rate by 20%, but it also affects the physics in a way where players are faster, shots harder and body checks more brutal. [There may, will be more fights if you are as addicted to that C button as I am] "Awesome" '80s computer aesthetics. Full of futuristic grids and computer font goodness. TRON style game grid and player uniforms. Not the most contrasting, but it fits the style and can be followed well enough. Team names started with Alpha and Beta because, you know, programming, and just kind of stuck with the Greek alphabet motif throughout the modding process. Might change it if a better idea comes up, but it seems to fit. [Also I just really liked Team (Kenny) Omega]. UPDATE 2: This update includes forth option for period lengths unlocked, updated bench player sprites and updated "off-screen player pointer" and "active player stars" in addition to a couple other sprite fixes for in-game and presentation assets that I didn't know how to correct at the time I released the original. As well as the edit that allows teams #25 and #26 [the former All-Star teams] to be used in Playoff mode. TRON Hockey v1.2.bin

  2. EDIT: @Sauce has shared a solution that was deep within the depths of another thread, also found by Smozoma, just below this post. It's much better, and doesn't double up on the player names. Basically, if you'd like to keep the player records, which already are broken for the most part in 32-team ROMs, use this one. If you'd rather the names only appear once, use his! Let me just start this off by saying 99.99999% of the credit here goes to @smozoma. All I'm doing is sharing the code! If you'd like to prevent the freeze on Team 31 and 32, follow as so: Find offset F8ABO, and change the ensuing set of 6 hex values to 4E 71, 4E 71, 4E 71. After this, find F8B2C, and do the exact same. Once you boot up the game, the player card screen should act as so (also, a nice sneak peak of my big ROM I'm working on!): The names will be doubled up, but I definitely view this as the lesser of 2 evils.

  3. NHL 94 Champion Edition v1.2.bin v.1.1 posted 11/30/20, removed 12/1/20, 21 downloads. v1.0 posted 11/30/20, removed same day, 11 downloads. Features 32 Teams, representing some of the best eras of each franchise. Every franchise except for CBJ, FLA, NSH, VGK (and technically WPG/ATL I guess) appears at least once. Not every team won a cup, but those who did received an overall boost, and special flair at center ice! I tried to limit it to one team per era, so while yes, the Oilers probably have 3 of the Top 10 teams ever from their run in the 80s, I only put in the 1984 Oilers since their core was the same for the most part. On the contrary, the '02 Red Wings and '08 Red Wings are both in to reflect the change from Yzerman-Fedorov to Datsyuk-Zetterberg. Most teams have 3 full lines, a sub, and 2 goalies. All lines are "best case scenario", just because of the limited information on older teams, I made everything the same or at the least, very close for each team as to make 1v1 play balanced. No helmets? No problem! All teams from 1977 and earlier grace the ice with majestic flow! To accommodate for the play styles of ole, and the endless possibilities on the ice, there's no more position locks. Forwards can play defense, and vice versa. Doc Emrick takes one last gig at the legendary EASN before retiring! Player cards for all starters and updated music for each team. Thank Yous @clockwise, @slapshot67, @wboy, and @smozoma make literally every ROM here possible with their templates, programs, and guides. @clockwise and @UltraMagnus's End of the World Fantasy ROM, and @CoachMac's work were big inspirations for this project. Known Bugs The Sudden Death game style doesn't work in the playoffs, because of how the game treats OT compared to the Regular Season mode. There were some compromises to "crash proof" the game. I use the Winnipeg Freeze Bug fix that destroys the User Records, so player cards are broken. Some of the logos get jacked up on the Ron Barr screen. I have no idea why. I'll try to have them a bit more smooth in my next project. Some of the numbers are probably wrong. The NHL.com roster archive seems like it needs some work, but most stars and starters should be accurate.

  5. EDIT: No longer asking "what's the solution?", instead saying what it is. The music table for the 32 Team ROM is located at 5490. Edits the same exact way as the others.

  6. That was joke. EA has been voted the worst company in America several times and they've destroyed many of amazing game studios by running them into the ground with unrealistic expectations. So, just by using their current logo, not the old one, it is EA logo as a ruined structure. That's why I posted that pic of their current logo. Basically, what I'm trying to say is, having to explain your joke is the true mark of a comedy genius.
