  1. Hey naples39, don't know if you remember me from the 90s "deadline" ROMs, but I'm glad to see you're still modding NHL 94! I myself have moved onto NHL 2004 modding so I'm not around as much as I used to be. I liked what I saw in the 2016 preview and am excited that you have taken on modern NHL updates. I will definitely be adding this to my play time rotation between NHL 2004 mods and NHL Legacy, so thank you for your continued work!
  2. Not until playoffs start so the match ups can be added.
  3. You mentioned copying-and-pasting whole rinks instead of editing individual parts. Was that an easy process, or did you have to edit the hex code? I ask because the Vancouver 2010 ROM has the exact rink I want, besides having ice tiles in the bench areas and lacking the goal light as in your deadline ROMs. I'm wondering if I could implement that into a ROM without having to do too much puzzle-piecing together. And if so, would I have to re-edit the bench areas and goal light, or can I just copy over the ice tiles alone? Here's a link to the Vancouver ROM: http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/11002-vancouver-rom-shareware/?p=83461
  4. Say I want to take a rink with the half-moon crease, like this: And put in the updated face off dots and inner hash marks like this: How can I achieve this? I've tried reading the reference topics like (http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/9706-reference-nhl94-rink-tile-layout/) and (http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/11658-how-to-altering-the-net-tiles-and-palette/) and (http://koti.mbnet.fi/~swos/nhl94/goalcrease.htm), but I'm still not clear on how to edit the rink tiles and get this done. I tried brute-forcing it, but when I tried using Tile Layer Pro, I ran into a problem. Here's a ROM with the updated face off dots and hash marks, with the updated crease: Here's a ROM with the old face off dots, no hash marks, and the older style crease. If you look at where that "F" tile is, editing that doesn't extend the hash marks, and the tile next to it is a crease tile, so editing that will change the crease and not the face off circle hash mark. So the only thing I can do right now is edit the actual face off dot and put in the beginnings of the hash marks, which leads to this: If I add tiles with the hash marks on them, it looks like I need some way to tell the game to use that tile and put it next to the already existing face off dot/hash mark tile. But I remember reading that if I add a tile, I need to remove one from somewhere else, or overwrite an existing one. In which case, I still have the same issue of telling the game where that tile goes. I'm not sure where to go from here. I'd appreciate any advice on getting the face off dots/hash marks in while preserving the old style crease. As a side note, I've noticed that when I do the reverse angle replay on that 97 ROM, I actually see the new-style rink with the updated face off circles and the newer crease, so I'm guessing that rink is stored somewhere on the ROM. I'm wondering if I could use that to change the game play rink? And how do I change the rink in the reverse angle replay?
  5. I figured it had something to do with the clockwise sprite hack, because I don't remember seeing it in the older ROMs. Oh well, acceptable price to pay for more accurate uniforms. Do you also know how to edit the face off dots? I want to try and get the hash marks in the 97 ROM as they are in the 99 ROM. I noticed that if you do the reverse angle replay, the 99-style goal crease and face off circles appear, so they must be stored in the ROM somewhere. I haven't had any luck searching for it so far, but I'll try again later. EDIT: Found some topics on rink tile editing. It is quite...demanding.
  6. Do you know why the benches in some ROMs like the 97 deadline have different colors? Any idea what their colors are connected to, palette-wise?
  7. *facepalm* I didn't realize the zip file contained the screenshots, I thought it was just for Tile Molester program.
  8. Where are the offsets and palettes for the menu and ice logos?
  9. I just wish those Tile Molester reference screenshots from Wboy were still available somewhere. I'm having a difficult time finding all the palettes I need for editing the Genesis ROM graphics.
  10. Thanks for the text file, I really appreciate your willingness to share it. Trying to edit logos on my own and getting the All-Star teams up and running gave me a new appreciation and respect for you, and all of the people who take the time to make custom ROMs and share them with the community.
  11. Well there you go, a 97 deadline ROM with the Fisherman logo, right from the man himself! CoachMac, for startup logos the first offset is at 001C85B8, canvas size 6x6 tiles, and the palette for the first logo is at offset 1868270. When you pick out the right colors for that first logo, click the arrow at the bottom to move to the palette for the second logo. naples39, while you're here, can you help me with the All-Star teams in the 97 deadline? I've got the rosters and lines set, I just need to get the player cards for the starting lineups right. All of the player photos are in the ROM and I've got their hex offsets, but I don't know how to get the cards pointed to the right photos. Do I do this in NOSE, TM, a hex editor, or EARE?
  12. Well if you're still interested, I've learned how to edit the startup logos, so I attached an edited version of naples39's 97 deadline ROM v4 with the fisherman logo, just for you. EDIT: naples39 has the logo in his ROMs now, so check the post below for a link to his thread.
  13. A job well done. They all look great!
  14. Yeah, you definitely have to forgo accuracy in favor of aesthetics in some cases. For instance, the Los Angeles ice in 1994 was a blank circle, which would be pretty boring in-game. So even though the logo wasn't there in real-life, I'd leave the Kings logo in-game because it beats having nothing there. And you mentioned the resolution problem for anniversary logos. Washington is definitely the worst one, but I think New York's 25th anniversary works pretty well. St. Louis and Boston are somewhere in the middle. I think the Northlands Coliseum logo could work for Edmonton if you remove the text around it. The Edmonton palette works pretty well because of that bright orange and the blue for the face off dot in the center. The Hockeytown logo should definitely work. And for the Leafs 94 logo, I couldn't find a clean picture of it so I had to take the 67 crest, take out the text, put a white circle in it, and put a red circle around it in MS Paint. I've attached the one I hacked up if you want to use it or until you find a better one.
  15. Heads up: The 94 ROM seems to have some issues with the goalie handedness. Also, did the 97 Deadline have the all-star rosters from NHL 98? I might try getting the all-star teams up and playable, but I'll probably need to correct the rosters and the team banners.
  16. I've finally learned how to change ice logos, so I've been experimenting on the Deadline ROMs using the Frozen Faceoff blog. Some of the logos needed extra work because I couldn't find a clean picture of them, like the St. Louis 30th and Washington 25th anniversaries. I was concerned that the anniversary logos might be too detailed to be rendered decently, but I think they work well in-game, more or less. The Washington anniversary is probably the worst one, not sure if I should fill in all the white space with the blue ice color.
  17. The 97 deadline ROM is probably the closest you're going to get right now. Yeah it doesn't have the fisherman logo, but it could be considered historically accurate because according to NHL Uniforms, the regular NY logo was put on the fisherman jerseys starting in 1996 http://nhluniforms.com/Islanders/Islanders08.html. If that's the only thing stopping it from being the definitive 96-97 ROM for you, you could try using Tile Molester to replace the start up logo.
  18. Fixed some music files and noticed Dmitri Khristich on Boston and Sergei Krivokrasov on Nashville are missing pictures. Didn't notice anything else so it should be good to go. 99deadlineV3_Patched.bin
  19. Something's up with the 99 ROM, the playoff brackets and music are off. Did you use the preliminary ROM instead of the fixed version for the final release?
  20. Aw shucks, it was nothin', just flipped a few switches here and there. naples39 did the heavy lifting! Can't wait! And don't worry about the goal crease; the refs in Game 6 sure didn't!
  21. Fixed the playoff brackets, checked handedness, and re-shuffled the music as best I could. I noticed Craig Berube is in there twice on Philadelphia and Washington (I think he was traded to Philadelphia before the 99 deadline), but I don't remember seeing any other duplicates. Did you import some of the players from the 97 deadline ROM? Most of the handedness attributes were good, just a few here and there that needed fixing. Lastly, I hope you saved those goal crease tiles from the original V1 ROMs for this 99 Deadline edit She's all yours. Thank you for your contributions to the NHL 94 community! 99deadline_MUSIC.bin
  22. D'oh! I messed up the dates when I read the news articles on those trades. Never mind, carry on! By the way, if you ever want to check out the center ice logos used since the 60's, FrozenFaceoff.net is a good resource to check out. I just found it and it's basically the NHLUniforms of ice rinks. http://frozennhl.blogspot.com/
  23. Very cool! Just wondering if it's possible to edit the uniforms in NHLPA '93? Because I remember reading somewhere that in the 60s the home team wore dark and the visiting team wore white (like they do now).
  24. Haha, thanks for the title screen. The player photos look great. Sure, I can take a crack at the 99 music. The shuffling with Carolina and Nashville should make things interesting. One last thing I should have brought up earlier: Since you imported the rosters from NHL 98 into your 97 Deadline ROM, they aren't technically the rosters from the 97 trade deadline since the NHL 98 was released in summer 1997. So it includes trades like Roenick from Chicago to Phoenix, which didn't happen until that summer. I guess calling it "97 Deadline" is easier than calling it "97 Deadline + Off Season," but it technically wouldn't reflect the 1996-1997 season. Just sayin'
  25. Finished fixing handedness, here's the upload. Good luck with the player pictures. 97DeadlineV2.75_FixedPlayoffs_Music_Handedness.bin
