  1. Punch-out anyone? It's a bit of a stretch, but how about Duck Hunt?
  2. The reason the NHL switched to darks at home was because most of teh alternates are dark, meaning if a team goes on a road trip and one of the teams wears alternates, they would have to then carry two pairs of jerseys, socks, helmets, etc. just because one team would wear their dark jerseys at home. That meant twice the baggage they had to carry, and in the post 9/11 airport, that's just not convenient. So to cut down on the amount of baggage needed, the league made the darks the home uniforms. Besides, it gave teams a chance to sell their dark uniforms at their arenas as a new source of revenue (since teams only carried the white ones), not mention it gives home crowds a chance to see some iconic uniforms, such as the Red Wings red unis, the Habs red and blue, and the Hawks red jerseys.
  3. I was under the impression that there was no "goal siren" or "goal horn" sfx, just the whistle. Unless that's just the rom.
  4. I could've sworn the league was keeping it dark at home. What's the point of switching it to white at home only to switch it back to dark at home once the alternates are back?
  5. Wow, who spiked your fruit loops this morning? If you want to argue over which system is best, how about presenting a well thought out and organized list of pros and cons compared to the Genesis instead of attacking everyone who plays the Genesis version, mkay?
  6. Wow, just how uncanny is that? Excellent job Drezz.
  7. Hmm, that's interesting to say the least. The game assigns the songs to a specific order of teams and changing the order changes the music as well. I doubt it's possible to give certain songs to certain teams, but I can live with it. My suggestion for the New York teams would be to take the route the original NHL 94 game did, and that's leave them as "New York" and let the colors of their banners tell the difference. I hardly think anyone agonized over the fact that the "Other Scores" menu doesn't say which one it is. Besides, if you're playing in playoff mode, it'll show the banner in the tree.
  8. I'm pretty sure Nedved's still with the Oilers, and that John LeClair is still a free agent. However, I wouldn't be surprised if LeClair retires.
  9. Hey clockwise, great rom you've got here! Always a treat to see old time teams and uniforms. Seeing the Devils in green makes me glad they switched to black.
  10. Hey Mack, something I've noticed (and it's something I've also noticed with clockwise's NHL 91) with the Flyers opening organ song. The one they originally have in NHL 94 is the correct one, but the one they have in your rom is better suited for a team like Minnesota. (clockwise actually has it with the Buffalo and Winnipeg song in his 91 edit). Is there a way for you to change it back to the original? I'd really appreciate it. And one more thing: You have the New York teams listed as "New York R." and "New York I.", but their names are thus represented as "New York R. Rangers" and "New York I. Islanders" in the hot/cold listings with Ron McLean. Just wanted to point that out if you didn't notice. I'm eagerly awaiting your next edit (especially with Briere over here in Philly!). I know it'll be just as good as the previous ones.
  11. is the lack of Ron Hextall on the Flyers... (Don't mean to hijack this thread or anything, but I think everyone should respond to the thread like you have with their own personal gripes). And yeah, it's a mullet. *gives the Jagr salute*
  12. Yet another topic on reversed goaltenders (I posted on in the NHL 97 board if you didn't check yet). The Eastern All-Star team (Wales Conference) has its goalies reversed. Patrick Roy (left-handed) is right-handed on the All-Star team, while Grant Fuhr and Tom Barrasso (both right-handed) are lefties. What's up with that?
  13. Oh, even more mind boggling: NHL 96 actually had correct sprites for the goaltenders. 96 and 97 use the exact same engine and graphics. So why the change?
  14. Okay, I'll admit it, there's another reason I read the hot/cold lists. It's the cool music they play!
  15. Actually, I meant why they traded him after drafting him. I only watch the hot/cold matchups to see how much a player's overall flucuates and how they stack up against their counterpart. It's surprising, actually.
  16. Damn it, that reminds me, why the hell did the Flyers trade away Hexy? In fact, why did they ever trade away Forsberg in the first place?! The only thing that could make NHL 94 even better than it is now for me is if the Flyers had Hextall for the 93 season.
  17. My mistake. It should read, "And NHL 94 ruled and continues to rule the world, right?"
  18. Hey Drezz, good to see you here. Welcome to the community! Can't wait to see what you can do.
  19. I never noticed this until now; all of the goaltenders in NHL 97 for the Genesis have reversed sprites, which means all of the goalies who catch with their left hand in reality are catching with their right hand in the game, and vice versa for right-handed catchers. Does anyone know why this is?
  20. Yeah, nice work on teh Bure gif. I remember watching a little documentary on him on YouTube and the commentator remarked on his celebration after his first goal. It was something about him learning the North American fist pump and leg kick. Very realistic. Dude, gprice07, nice play! That reminds me: how do you do a shot block in NHL 95-98 on the Genesis?
  21. Ah, now I see the orange, white, and black in the All Star unis. They just look kinda red, white, and blue, especially since the black is a bit light and isn't as dark as others, like Pittsburgh. Speaking of the All-Stars, they were still the Wales and Campbell conferences back then, right? I noticed they're referred to as the "All-Stars East" and "West" in 94 and 93 as well, but their names weren't changed until Bettman took over, right? Wasn't that after 94 was released? I've noticed the uniform errors, but I guess it's easier to live with because the graphics aren't so detailed that you're constantly annoyed by them (unlike certain other EA games ).
