I just experienced a crash where I turned off all the rules, Sweden v Canada, and right after a check was made in my zone the game threw an error. It might be an errant edge case or just a random crash. Just wanted to report it. im playing on a native sega Genesis using a mega Everdrive v3 using the most recent OS version.

Thank you for the quick turn around. I figured it had something to do with the hex code for the rosters. I am a QA tech at my job so this is a big part of what I do. I wish there was better testing tools I could utilize for nhl94 roms, but you can only do so much with software limitations. thank you for the kind words about my crt. My sister and I had an old crt with a vcr in it, but the screen shorted out. The one that I currently use was a bday present from my wife where she fb marketplaced it from one town over. The dvd player sometimes plays dvd’s but I mainly use it for my sega setup. You are one of my favorite rom hackers on this forum, and I am always excited when you put out a new project. Keep up the great work!

I actually found a big bug when playing as KalPa and line changes are enabled. If you attempt to edit the rosters before the game, an error will pop up and freeze the screen. I swept through all the teams with this workflow and found no issues. This seems to only happen to Kalpa and you have line changes turned on. When you have them turned off, no issue. Here is a screenie of the error.

If it’s borrowed from TSN, then that should be fine. It was just weird seeing the abbreviation be different, I just thought I’d bring it up.

Hello, love the Rom, but I noticed that on the score board for Frölunda it’s FRO and not FHC. When I saw FRO I was like “something looks weird.” I had to double verify with my Swedish Best friend. Unless they do things different for the Spengler Cup, the initials should be FHC.

From what I’ve seen, if you select MIN, and try and edit the roster, the screen crashes. And if you select them as the opponent, the players on the ice are MIA.

I tested it on real sega hardware, yeah, I replicated the bug. Super funny bug.

Format the 32gb card to a fat32 format. And try it again, if that doesn’t work, you may have a bad sd card.

To escalate what Lukáš is saying, the Jersey numbers are wrong.

My guess is that the other roms are region locked. I forget if that doesn’t matter with the x5. I have an x3 and an NTSC sega genesis. So I’m only limited to US roms.

Just a heads up, when you get the microSD card, you need to format it to fat32 for it to work. Then follow whatever tutorial on YT to set up the OS for the Everdrive.

You cannot apply the widescreen hack to modded NHL94 roms. Only the base rom.

I was playing NHL '98 for Sega and I noticed that Brett Hull was listed as a lefty. We all know he could not have scored 700+ goals where he was positioned if he was a left handed shot. I went ahead and modified his hex value for all instances of his character (STL/ASW). I know there are others on this forum that are like "is that it???", but I couldn't let an injustice go untouched. I guess this is what happens when EA outsources to THQ and they focus on PS1/PC versions of the game. UPDATE: I also fixed Chris Pronger, who was listed as a Righty, even though he was a Lefty in real life. I'm sure he could do all that dirty stuff as a righty, but I fixed the issue, and Pronger and Hull are now their correct hanidness. NHL '98 FIXED PRONGER n Hull.bin

I noticed something in regards to the '93 games and them not working on Mega Everdrive for a Native Sega Genesis. Both '93 rom hacks are 1mb and the original nhlpa '93 is 512k in memory if I am not mistaken. I think the Genesis is having a hard time registering the difference in memory between the base game and the modified game. I also noticed a similar issue w/ the ps2 version of nhl94, since that game is 2mb, and the original game is 1mb. Is there a way to modify memory to it's original state in the hex editor? This is not a confirmed root cause, but I noticed that discrepancy.

Un modded NHLPA '93 does indeed work on the EverdriveX3, with the exception of not being able to save since there is no EEPROM feature on the cart. It is a known issue in the Everdrive forums. The 30/32 team mods seem to be what are giving issues for the Everdrive. My guess is that the Mod or adding more teams messes with the memory or the storage in some way, and the native sega genesis cannot process it.

I absolutely love this series of romhacks. Keep up the great work! '91 and '94 CE are my personal favorites. I play these on a MegaEverdriveX3 in my office, and I love the attention to detail of the sprite work. I would love to play the '93 romhacks, but for some reason '93 romhacks are not able to play on a native Sega Genesis (BlackScreen). I am aware that it is a known issue, and I've been looking into how to fix that via Google, and playing around with the Hex code, but no luck. I am able to play the '93 games via emulator (Gens), but I cannot emphasize how much I would love to play '93 romhacks on a native Sega.

Great Job naples39, I love the artwork that you put into your rom hacks. I have noticed however that Patrick Marleau is listed at a Righty in your romhacks. He is a Lefty IRL, and I know modding rosters and getting the right info correct through hundreds of players is very tedious. I have fixed his hand placement in the roms that I have downloaded via Hex workshop. I just wanted to let you know that this is an on going issue in your Roms. Keep up the great work.
