  1. just to add ..... i am in the VERY EARLY STAGES of an international edit for NHLPA93 ..... i have 46 teams that have rosters, 67 in total (68 if serbia and montegegro are seperate ..... and i plan to have more too!) so hopefully in the future there is a hack for NHLPA93 to add UNLIMITED teams to it!! otherwise, i'll just spread them out over multiple roms ..... i have the roster pdf's from iihf.com, and inputted them onto spreadsheet, and started getting some reallife stats for a few teams ..... will try to calculate stats for the game from them! also made my first foray into actual graphic editing, and created my first strip (ARMENIA, got the homestrip good, and just a tweak for the away strip to do ..... got to start somewhere ) ..... but done something a little stupid!! i got the colours from the flags of the countries, and forgot they won't exactly input into NOSE so i have to go through them again, reverting them to NOSE format ..... and there's more of them now!!! gawd .....going to be here for a while .....
  2. but could this also be part of the "problem"? if everyone tried to start at the beginning, and work through all of it, it would take longer ..... would it be more sensible for the experts, and people who are putting in the time / effort / patience to rip apart the code and find all that there is to find ..... to pinpoint all those areas where other people can go straight into them ..... making it easier for less-than-capable people (like myself) to edit stuff! i mean, for such a small rom, there's a heck of a lot of coding to go through! to me, you are like pioneers in the field, hacking your way through the jungle to find a clearer path to that lost city ..... easier editing you lead others on, and indeed, yourselves to faster and more efficient hacking for more games! i have always thought this would be the next evolution of the whole rom scene, where you can edit roms to individual tastes ..... even expand the roms themselves with more levels ..... eventually enlarging the games, making them harder etc! i believe the whole point of engineering a rom is not just to make it better (or more up to date), but to make it easer for a lot more people ..... potentially a lot more people that will take up rom editing! i myself was just going through the tmr30v1.0.zip with tile molester and seeing the results, and i'm going to make a list of the inputs for each one. it's fascinating stuff just how the rom is coded, and how different each part really is from one another! you guys do a hell of a job in your spare time to do all this, and everyone here is grateful for all your hard work ..... but the whole idea of rom hacking is to make it easier ..... otherwise it will still be in the realms of the professional hacker, and that means it will stay where it is ..... at the beginning! good luck with all your endevours guys
  3. HAHA the trouble i had trying to find this thread! sorry to bump an old thread, but since it's the only hack with international teams in it ..... it makes me interested!!! is there an update on it's progress? most appreciated rookie hockey player
  4. 1: how many teams can actually be allowed in the game? (nhl94, possibly nhl93) concerning the 30-team hack ..... could the number be extended, or is it restricted by the programming structure of the rom programming? 2: interational rosters i am trying to get some international teams together in a spreadsheet, and have a complete list of teams (including the mighty monaco, chinese taipei and the giants of namibia!) but need a roster list ..... especially of the lesser teams? i've looked for sites where i can find them, but there isn't one that have complete lists, so ANY help would be appreciated! i've got the teams from the IIHF site, so i can start them. 3: how you come up with the roster stats? do you get them from real player stats, and is there some sort of formula to get them from reallife to nhl94 stats? or just guess at them? any replies full appreciated

" oops, that's from the A-TEAM *sorry about the caps, as i c&p'd it from a webpage* IN 1992, WHEN THE `SEGA MEGADRIVE` WAS AT IT`S HEIGHT IN POPULARITY THERE WAS A GAME AVAILABLE FOR IT THAT I RENTED OUT OF THE LOCAL COMPUTER SHOP. IT WAS CALLED `EA HOCKEY`. IT WAS A POPULAR GAME AT THE TIME AND IT STILL STANDS THE TEST OF TIME TODAY. MY FIRST FEW GAMES I OBVIOUSLY LOST, BUT AS I GREW IN CONFIDENCE IN PLAYING I GOT BETTER AND BETTER AND BETTER. IT DIDN`T TAKE ME LONG TO BE A MASTER OF THE GAME AND SOON I WAS UNBEATABLE AT IT. BUT PLAYING IT WASN`T ENOUGH FOR ME THEN AS I STARTED ACTUALLY WATCHING THE COMPUTER PLAY ITSELF, AND IT ACTUALLY PLAYED PRETTY GOOD. SO I DECIDED TO SET UP A ORGANIZATION CALLED THE `WORLD HOCKEY LEAGUE` OR W.H.L. AND CREATED A WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR THE TEAMS TO PLAY IN. THE FIRST CHAMPIONSHIP HAD A QUALIFYING ROUND OF 12 TEAMS AND THE SIX WINNERS WENT THROUGH TO PLAY IN THE FIRST ROUND OF 4 GROUPS OF 4 TEAMS. THE WINNERS AND RUNNERS UP WAS DRAWN INTO QUARTER-FINALS AND THE RESULTANT WINNERS, INTO THE SEMI FINALS. THE LOSERS WOULD PLAY-OFF FOR THIRD PLACE WHILE THE WINNERS WOULD PLAY IN THE FINAL. THE NEXT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS HAD 20 TEAMS IN 4 GROUPS OF FIVE. OVER THE YEARS I ENJOYED IT SO MUCH I STARTED SETTING UP OTHER COMPETITIONS AND SOON IT BECAME A HOBBY OF MINE TO WATCH AND RECORD THE SCORES OF THE MATCHES. THE BIGGEST STEP FOR ME WAS TO SET UP AN ENTIRE SEASON, COVERING SEVERAL MONTHS IN REAL TIME. THIS INCLUDED AN ACTUAL LEAGUE SET-UP WHICH COMPRISED OF 3 DIVISIONS; TWO DIVISIONS OF 8 TEAMS AND ONE OF 6, COMPRISING THE BEST TEAMS AT THAT TIME, PLAYING BOTH HOME AND AWAY; TWO CUP COMPETITIONS; THE WHL CUP WHICH IS A KNOCKOUT CONPETITION OVER TWO LEGS; THE WORLD CUP WHICH IS ANOTHER KNOCKOUT COMPETITION BUT WAS ONLY ONE GAME AND A LONGER MATCH; THE WHL EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS AND THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. now ..... the year is 1986 ..... and NASA has launched the last of it's deep-space probes! commandered by WILLIAM "BUCK" ROGERS ..... oh wait, that's the start of BUCK ROGERS IN THE 25TH CENTURY right, the real stuff ..... ever since i started to play, then simulate EA HOCKEY and NHL93 ..... i've always wanted to have more teams in the game, as 22 were never enough, and 22 is never a great number to work with anyway! i was searching YOUTUBE for something unrelated to NHL94 and came across clips for the game, and read some of the views on a clip ..... and spotted a link to this site! and lo and behold, editing the game became a horrible reality for me!! and i am about to prep for another simmed season with EA HOCKEY, to start, as always, in august! i have further questions later, but let's just say ..... i am VERY happy the modding scene has reached the BEST ice hockey game for the megadrive / genesis! (upto when nhl95 was released of course )
