  1. Thanks a lot for all your help man. I appreciate it I'm polling the guys in my league now to see if they prefer the star or the circle. I'm still kind of torn myself. I do like the star but the circle's simplicity intrigues me.
  2. I recently tried applying the Circular Player Indicator hack to my ROM, but I'm running into a problem. I frequently play 2v2 games with my friends over Netplay, but when I tested the indicators, the fourth player (yellow) still has a star instead of a circle. However, when he touches the puck the blue circle indicating possession appears inside the star, which just looks like a big mess. Players 1, 2, and 3 are fine. If player 4 still has a star then it must be stored somewhere in the ROM, right? Has anyone ran into this problem before and found a fix for it? Sorry for all the posts in such a short time. I'm relatively new at this and need all the help I can get. Cheers.

  4. True. I'll do some experimentation then, I guess. It's not something that I absolutely can't live without but if I can figure it out I think it would look a lot nicer than gray numbers on gray ice

    VHL 94

Hey everyone, This hack is called VHL 94. It's kind of a niche hack but I figured the community here might find some enjoyment out of it anyway. Basically, I'm in a hockey player sim league which is based on STHS (Simon T. Hockey Simulator). You create a player and then do various tasks around the league (such as writing articles about your player) to earn attribute points and make your player better. It's pretty neat, you can negotiate your player's contract with GMs, play in the World Cup, and win a bunch of different end-of-season awards if you're good enough. Anyway, the league I'm in is called the VHL (Link for anyone interested). This ROM is based on that league, as you can probably guess by now. It has all 8 VHL teams, all 8 VHLM (minor league) teams, 2 All-Star teams, a number of historical/defunct teams, and the 6 World Cup teams. Every player that appears in the league on either a pro or minor league team is represented in the game, along with accurate attributes, numbers, and handedness. I update the rosters regularly (the next update should be sometime tomorrow as the trade deadline occurs at 6 PM EST) and I've completely replaced all 30 NHL teams with original logos and banners. I've dabbled in ROM hacking before, but this is the first hack that I've managed to pretty much redo everything. I started this project about two weeks ago. The game has become pretty popular within the league community. If anyone sees people playing "VHL 94" on Gens Netplay, this is the game they're playing. It's not the best hack, but it is the best one I have ever done, so I feel compelled to share it with you all. Special thanks to wboy for his 30 team rom and NOSE. None of this would have been possible without it. If you want to be in this game, feel free to head over to that league site and create a player ROM file attached. Cheers. -Nick VHL_94.bin
  6. I don't mind making the typeface in the main menu black, since it will still be readable. Also, are you sure about that, Clockwise? Because the typeface in the matchup menu is white, while the numbers in-game are light gray.
  7. That's how to edit the player star, but what I'm talking about is editing the numbers that appear under the star of the player you are controlling. I've looked through TM for the font but I haven't been able to find anything.
  8. Is it possible to change the color of the number and position letter that appears under the player indicator from gray to something else? I just made the ice in my hack light gray and I like it, but the numbers kind of clash with the ice now. I'd like to make it something darker.
  9. I've edited the lines. smozoma is right about my reducing the number of players on a team. I'll take a look at that player card tutorial, thanks.
  10. Hey everyone, I'm working on a ROM that is based on a fantasy hockey league that I am in. The foundation is wboy's 30 team rom. The game is playable, but I have an issue that I can't figure out how to fix. Basically, when I am in the team select screen, the game freezes as soon as it starts to flash through the starting lineups for each team (like when you wait too long to start the game, it starts going through the starting lineups for each team. It freezes as soon as it starts doing this). At first, I thought it was because I had every player listed as a forward, so I went into nose and changed the bytes around so that every forward was listed as a forward and every defenseman a defenseman. However, this didn't fix the problem. If anyone ran into this issue and has any ideas about how to fix it, I would appreciate it. Here is a link to the ROM, if any of you want to see for yourself: http://www.mediafire.com/?31xb3moweoy It's obviously a work in progress and I haven't gotten around to changing the startup banners/logos yet. Anyway, any help on this issue is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  11. I'd be willing to help but I don't know anything besides a little bit of JAVA
  12. Alright, I figured out the intermission/playoff banners. I just edited them in TLP. I'm assuming that I have to do the same thing with the startup banners. Now I just have to find the right offset.
  13. Here's a link to the Gens 32 Surreal emulator. It comes with kaillera so you don't have to download any extra software. Just extract and play: http://gens32.emubase.de/Gens32/Gens32_Surreal_v1_76.zip Also, if you're looking for a league, my fantasy draft league might be for you. It's got a lot of guys who have never played NHL 94 online before, so it would be a good league for you to adjust to the Gens version of NHL 94 in. The info can be found in this thread: http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?showtopic=6985
  14. Also, an added note to the people on this forum since many of you have more experience with NHL 94 online leagues and rom editing than myself and the guys over at LG: if any of you are interested in helping me with this project, either by editing the rom (I still can't figure out how to edit the startup banners on wboy's rom) or setting up a league site or something else, feel free to get in touch with me. My contact info is in my profile. Cheers.
  15. I've been messing around with editing a rom of NHL 94. I didn't really know what to do with it though but then I thought it would be a cool idea to host a fantasy league with it once I'm done. It will be a draft league with custom teams (you get to name the team and pick its colors as well as draft the players). The rosters are based on the end of the 2006-2007 season so players who started playing this season are not included (unless someone can get me a patch with updated rosters for the 2007-2008 season). This league was originally intended to be only for people who play in the Leaguegaming NHL 08 Online Teamplay League on leaguegaming.com, but I decided to open it up to people on this site as well. Most of the people at LG are new to NHL 94 online so I figured it would be nice to get some veterans in the league if I could. The names you see on the team list are the names of players from Leaguegaming, so don't be surprised if you don't recognize them. It's a Genesis rom, so you'll need a copy of the Gens emulator in order to play it online with other people. We use Gens 32 Surreal because we have a few Vista users and this emulator works best for them. Here is a link to the emulator: http://gens32.emubase.de/Gens32/Gens...real_v1_76.zip Here is a link to the current copy of the ROM we will eventually be using: http://upload2.net/page/download/gzH...aming.zip.html NOTES ABOUT THIS ROM: -This rom is far from finished, so expect glitches. -All of the teams listed below are currently playable, although the rosters are not official (the teams have the rosters of the team it overwrote. For example, Jamestown has Anaheim, Bombay has Atlanta, etc.). If you are missing a team that is on the list below, redownload the ROM. -The intro screen logos and the intro, intermission, and playoff banners have not yet been updated as I have not figured out how to do that yet. In the actual game, nothing remains of the original teams (aside from when you pause the game and see the old teams' banners). If you are interested post the following information. I have 30 spots and I'll take the first 30 people who want to play. ALL TEAMS ARE FINAL! NO NAME CHANGES ONCE YOUR TEAM IS IN THE SYSTEM! Team city: Team name: Stadium name: Team colors: Link to team logo: *A good site for logo ideas is this one: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/logos/logoleague.html Be creative. This should be a fun league if there's enough interest. Don't sign up if you don't intend on playing in the summer.
