#93 Doc Killmore got a hat trick in my second game! Absolutely see potential in this game. Any place to preferably post feedback? I for one lost track of the puck a lot of the time (while sittning rather close to a 40")..
I'd need some kind of suddle trail behind the puck or something and I feel like the puck could be almost twice the size (at least visually during gameplay - IE hitbox sized during replay)..
Sure, I'm old, but aren't all of us on here?

Off topic: Just dropping by to say how cool I think this is. I'm realizing the naming could be better and not entirely satisfied with how it plays against ai so I'm very curious to know how it plays player VS player. I might have set the stick handling a bit too high overall. Please pm if you have any concrete suggestions.
Make sure you grab the latest version I posted last year. It has "Def controls ON" by default.

So, time for an update pack:
My "The Real" rom hack is simply put: fixed rosters (and jerseys) according to the actual 1993-94 season. I've fixed a few bugs but most prominently added this:
- Defense control is now ON by default!
Huge thanks to @smozoma for this hack finding! Amazing!
Menu defaults are: 5, 10, 20 minutes. Penalties: On, no offsides. Line changes: On. Goalie: Manual.I've also made and included new 1on1, 1on2 and 3on3 roms based on the "The Real" hack. These have:
- 3, 5 & 7 minute periods (instead of the default 5, 10, 20 which is retained in the 5on5 rom).
- An additional 3on3 rom that has 2 defenders and 1 forward (to make use of the defense controls) alongside the 3on3 with 3 forwards.
- Line changes off, but supported.
- Penalties off.
- Goalie control: manual.

No word yet on the fate of the 3d sequel Blockey 'Rockin Hockey since its development from 2014 through 2017.It's now available! Starting with a 41% price cut, so 0,47€.. But still, is it worth picking up? I don't know what game I would pass up on to play this.
It does not look fun. Seems like it absolutely requires 4 humans to be enjoyable, if at all.

Pretty sure I fixed checksum on my later hacks. I'm reworking a bunch of my roms and they'll all be unheadered and checksum fixed. Fingers crossed.
If there's any interest at all I'll be giving the same treatment to the 2on5 roms... But as I have to make one rom for each damn team, I'm thinking a better idea would be to leave the All-Star teams FULL, combined with the 2on2 rom.. So thay you and a friend easily can play either 2on2 or together against a full team of AI players.. I am not of native English tounge (and very little use of English the last 4-5 years) so I'm sorry if the sentences get a bit messy and hard to understand...
*edit: Someone years ago asked for juiced 2on2 so I might just have to make juiced versions as well.. Hmm... xD

What was the problem? Issues with it having a header? I only played on Zsnes back then.. Now I'm using Snes9x.

If you love arcade-style hockey, NHL 2001 was the best. It is the NHL game I played the most alongside NHL 94. My friends and I played it every week.
It's the 3D EA game I've played the absolute most. It's been awhile now, but I usually return to it and play through a season every other year or so!
Players with "hammer" and power shot are a bit over powered though.. Players without them are a bit under powered. But yeah, the intro rocks!
If you haven't already, I'd recommend you try NHL Hitz Pro. It's a bit along those lines of being "simcade" (mix of realism and arcade). One of my favorite non EA hockey games.

Uh.. It's about 12 years since I made this, and probably 10 since I last did much/any rom hacking so all I can do is guess.. I think it has to do with the number of letters in a team name. Fitting in a shorter name than an existing is easy, just fill out the rest with blanks/spaces. The other way takes a lot of work to do manually.. The rom editors available nowadays might do it in seconds. :)

I once used save sates as to try and get as many goals as possible in a single game, but... I got bored and never finished it
I was curious to see if the game could handle tripple didgit scoring as well, but I cannot for the life of me remember how far I got.
On topic though.. I could only bare to watch until the 3rd goal. Audio sync issues and an annoying pic of a dog along with not being certainly impressed with the "speedrun" (dude's not even setting def. control to manual, wtf). I'd be shocked if anyone here would not be able to get 10 goals in than 3 minutes (game time). Pretty certain I loaded previous save state if it took more than 15 seconds to score another one (in the example stated above).
PS. Ooooh.. Took another look at that video and it said "3rd place", and it turns out I'm right on the money. Someone named "whitman_price_" scores 10 goals in 2:34 game time.

These are code hacks, not data hacks, so it's not transferable to SNES. (they are different games, and on different systems, so the code is completely different, though it does roughly the same thing (make a hockey game..))
TOI was actually being recorded all along, I just stumbled across it. I don't know if it's in the SNES version or not.
The game also actually recorded "checks for" for each player originally, in memory after goals, assists, shots, PIM (and then Checks For, which was not displayed). I modified it so it replaces PIM with checks for (which is why Checks For shows up in Player Stats if you apply the weight bug fix), and then checks against where the original checks for was. PIM is no longer recorded, so it must be calculated from the Penalty Summary in the stat extractor.
Displaying +/- in-game is not going to happen for several reasons... 1) i'm not actually keeping a +/- score for each player, i'm just recording who was on the ice for each goal (so +/- is calculated by the stat extractor, not the hack code) 2) if i did calculate +/- in the hack and replace PIM with that, then we lose either Checks for or Checks Against. 3) The game doesn't know how to write negative numbers to the screen

Hehe.. I didn't have high hopes, I just thought it would be worth a shot (to look through it and see what it was).. The hacks I've been doing have been pretty much straight up transferable, just switch little/big endian and some different offsets.
Oh well, still great too see this stuff (even though it's for GENS, heh). With the skills some of you guys have, wouldn't you have been able to make an actual hockey game?
It baffles me that there aren't any real like indie hockey games or something like that, not that I've heard of anyway.

Yes I know that (you could probably make so it's shown in-game as well though, instead of PIM or something like that).. And I've already got one of those (it would only be a matter of adding the new stuff to it), all I'm curious about is if it's possible to implement in a SNES rom at all.

I'm just so excited to see how Modano fits in on that third line, seems excellent. And thank god they're gonna put Z, Dats and Holmer back together, just never got why they got split up. All those forth liners feels like a question mark though.. If they can stay (at least somewhat) healthy I think they'll be back on track.
Never really cared for the Lightnings before, but they seem very interesting this season. Yzerman seems to be doing a great job so far. Getting Gagne was such a steal!

So.. Among fellow NHL 94'ers.. Am I really the only one that thinks the controls suck arse!? IRL I seem to be the only one having the slightest beef with them. Guess my biggest problem is that you can't chose to shoot with R1, since... Well why not!? >_< And just fake shots like you did 10 years ago, by just quickly tapping the pass button, easy peasy. I know in 09 the R1 basically just told team mates to shoot, don't even remember what it does (with puck) in 10.
Sure there's a "Classic" option, but that instead loses a lot lot lot of controls? I haven't even tried it, since it's just way the other way and is instead too limited. NHL Hitz probably had my favorite control scheme and overall control over the player (sure you can't do the modern fancy dekes, but heck, I can't do them anyway haha).
