  1. wow, what a comeback! i once scored 4 goals in the final minute to comeback and tie it. Scored with 54 secs left, then 22, then 9 then 1 to send it to OT and I won in overtime... this was against a friend of mine who wasn't very good tho so this is much more impressive vs a top caliber player!
  2. i'm an avid snes player and have recently played the gens version (about 10 games in a row) with a friend of mine. i didn't like the gens version at all, its completely different. I can score 15-20 goals/game easy in snes but i had trouble scoring one in gens. It was also way too difficult to click on the manual goalie, which brings me to my main point of the SNES controller being ridiculously better than the gens controller... 3 buttons?!?! thats preposterous! I use all 6 buttons plus the gamepad regularly on the snes controller and anyone who doesn't use them all is at a disadvantage, i believe. the L and R buttons are so key to click on the left or right Defencemen as you need him. I found the gameplay to be much better on the Snes so I dunno what you gens guys are talking about frame rates or whatever, its all a matter of opinion and what you're used to i think. Personally, I think whatever you grew up on, whether its snes or gens, you're obviously going to prefer that version over the other. They're too different and peoples opinions are too biased to actually decide which is better. The only thing I will say that I hope everyone will agree on is the SNES controller is SOOOO much better than the Gens controller... i find it way easier to control the players with the gamepad and obviously the extra buttons are a huge help. as "plaid" mentioned in his post, its way easier to deke in the snes version, i need to be able to deke good or as i like to call it "dangle"... The one thing that I can say I like much better in the gens version than the Snes version is how it saves records, that is pretty cool and the only real thing worth mentioning that the snes version is lacking... but i would still take the better controller over the record saver anyday. Final Verdict: Gens players like gens better (thats why they play it) and Snes players like snes better (thats why we play it).... is there anyone out there who played SNES 94 all of their life then tried gens version and completely quit playing snes or vice versa? i would be very interested to hear if theres anyone out there like that and if so, they are the only true people that can answer this question.
  3. i would definitley be interested. the number of coaches wouldn't matter to me as long as there is high interest so minimal replacements... 2 goalies max is all thats needed, i play with st. louis in both cap and classic league and if anyone's ever played with them before, you'll know that Cujo is their only goalie (no backup). i actually kinda like it cause even if he's getting blown out i gotta leave him in, so i don't even worry about my goalie and therefore he usually plays awesome every game. for the players, it would depend on line changes or not, no more than 6 forwards and 4 d if linechanges are off. as for the stats, i would love to have them in the league, but unfortunately i'm not a good programmer or anything so it would depend on how much work other people wanted to do. i'm currently trying to learn how to create webpages (from literally no knowledge at all, i actually have a book for dummies that i'm reading now hahaha) so i wouldn't mind making a webpage but it could take quite a while before i'm actually ready to create a good one.
  4. In St. Louis St. Louis 6 Buffalo 1 GG
  5. sounds interesting, however, i'm not interested in joining a whole bunch of leagues that take up all my time... i'm going to stick to the classic league, and 1 other league at a time (preferably some type of juiced league like your capitalism one). so if you're capitalism league is toast and theres no other juiced leagues running, then I would probably sign up for this. another interesting consideration for this would be at the end of the season, teams at the bottom of the league could get higher draft choices for their team for next year. that way a team that wins the league will be stuck with a worse team the following season... that would be pretty cool, help even it out and vary the champions from season to season.
  6. In Philadelphia St. Louis 7 Philadelphia 6 (OT) Great game
  7. he's making a joke because you're spelling invisible wrong. you're saying invincible... hence Chicago... invisible and invincible are two different words
  8. back in 94 toronto was in the western conference i believe so there probably isn't a problem
  9. i completely agree with hokkeefan, it doesn't even look like Pittsburgh has tried their hardest yet. I think they're going to win in 6... (maybe even 5)... Crosby for the Conn Smythe since he's going to play his best series of the playoffs for sure
  10. game 1 i have 4-3 for STL so give TOR another goal there, otherwise confirmed, GG's nhlosama, welcome to the league!
  11. that is the most ridiculous statement i have ever heard, goals are more important than assists? its rare to have a goal scored without an assist, lets say 1 every game or 2. so thats like 5% of goals are unassisted, the other 95ish% wouldn't occur if that pass wasn't made. i was taught that an assist is JUST as important as a goal growing up and i'm sure the majority of hockey players will agree with that as well. look at the great wayne gretzky for example, he had more assists in his career than any other player had points! even if he never scored a goal in his life he would still be the alltime scoring leader, ask him how important an assist is and I wonder what he'll say? lets revisit this discussion topic in 20 years when malkin, crosby and ovechkins careers are coming to an end and we'll see who was right and who was wrong. go crosby and go pens! as for ovechkin negotiating his own contract... haha who cares? maybe thats why crosby got captain before ovechkin, because he requested LESS money so that management could spread it over the team better... he signed for 8.7 mil/year, when he easily could've been making over 10. don't get me wrong, I love malkin and ovechkin, they're both amazing to watch! I love how ovechkin celebrates like its his first goal every time he scores. but the question is "who would you choose?" And from a GM's standpoint, you have to go with the player who's going to 1) take less money to better his team 2) make everyone around him better hockey players 3) give it everything he's got game in and game out along with supplying the needed goals and ASSISTS to win games. Ya gotta go with Crosby. Last closing remark, remember the shootout competition during this past allstar game? crosby was injured and couldn't attend, but do you remember oveckins attempts at those puck juggling shots? If you truly believe that ovechkin is more exciting and dynamic than crosby, tell me that crosby wouldn't have made some jaws drop in that competition? i hope they do the same thing next allstar game to see how many heads crosby can turn with his moves
  12. In Los Angeles Los Angeles 7 St. Louis 6 (OT) In St. Louis St. Louis 9 Los Angeles 8 (OT) Amazing games! Game 2 I got off to a great start 4-0, fenty took a timeout, made a goalie change and roared back to take the lead. He then scored with 25 seconds left to make it 8-6, I took a timeout, won the draw and scored with 15 seconds left. He won the next draw but I intercepted the dump in and tied it with 2 seconds left. OT was end to end action for 4 straight minutes and I finally snuck one by him in the last minute. Crazyyyyy game! My adrenaline still hasn't cooled off. Easily the best matchup I've ever played.

  14. In St. Louis St. Louis 7 Vancouver 3 In Vancouver St. Louis 7 Vancouver 6 GG's I scored a weird one with Cujo in game 2 and it ended up being a 1 goal game... really tough luck for tickenest, i was lucky to get the win
  15. confirmed gg's halifax
  16. it's gotta be crosby, art ross and hart trophy last year (along with the pearson which is voted on by the players).... sure ovechkin will get them this year but crosby was leading the league in points before he got injured so who's to say he wasn't going to get them again? i hate when people say crosby is a whiner. i'll agree he did a bit of whining in his rookie year, but he was just an 18 year old kid then. he's really matured and shows it now while wearing the C on his jersey. if he complains to the refs, its because thats his job! anyone who's not a captain or an alternate is not even supposed to speak to the refs. it also shows that he plays the game with a lot of passion as well, which everyone knows can't be taught or learned, you gotta be born with it (hence Canadian). Go Crosby, and Go Pens! Win that cup and bring it home.
