  1. GDL 8 regular season will end and playoffs will begin Monday July 11th 8AM EST.
  2. It's possible there will be GDL Awards after the end of the season, so keep that in mind when you are playing your games, as you can vote. You should evaluate your opponents at least in these categories: Best offensive coach Best defensive coach Best manual goalie Sportsmanship
  3. the site is located here: http://nhl94.arkku.net All games can be reported at anytime, but the gametime rules apply so read them. Keep savestates in case there are errors in database and I need to fix it. Here is the rom: gdl_season8.bin
  4. I haven't tried those games so I cannot disagree there, but have you tried megadrive/genesis ATP Tour Championship Tennis from Sega Sports ? It has great controls and playability.
  5. Yesterday I tried to put the rom to database, but it wasn't possible because there were many players in 2 teams, and the database script (csv) only accepts perfect rosters. Beavers is working on this and also on the schedule aswell, so thank you very much Beavers. At least these players needs replacement: Knickle (LA) Berthiaume (QUE) Galley (SJ) Foote (WSH) Stauber (MIN) Also there were some trades that weren't put in there. I know you are all eager to start the season already but these things needs to be fixed first. Also I have to return schoolwork project next week and that takes most of my time so it's possible the league starts May 2nd. March 25th is possible but more closer the next week gets I need to focus on my schoolproject.
  6. Do you use 56k or ISDN ? I think that is the important question. ISDN is somewhere between 56k and ADSL. I would be surprised if you used 56k, because you live farthest away from me, and still the latency is only about 220 ms. I have experience from all types of connections with NHL94. I started with 56k in the first league we had in 2001, and I barely made the playoffs. in 2001 there wasn't p2p mode, so all games had to be played in servers. With 56k I usually got about 170-200 ms to the swedish server (which equals 360-400 ms in p2p). I got ISDN to the playoffs and it made all the difference. I felt like a cow on a summer pasture (Finnish phrase). Latency dropped to 99 ms (200 ms p2p). I reached the finals with ISDN which I feel I couldn't have done with 56k. The southern Finland's opponents already had ADSL connection (I quess it became more common there before because of the big cities). Their latency to the server was around 20-40 ms. Now playing with ADSL and in p2p mode it feels almost like offline game to play against other Finns, and about the same that it was with ISDN against North Americans.
  7. We aren't waiting for Blitz. We are waiting for the rom to finish so preseason can start.

  10. I'll take Pantalaeyev as my 12th player
  11. Lost momentum is a big deal in playoffs. That's why I think playoffs should have zero tolerance.
  12. Yeah obviously team location should play no part at all when trading players. Fleury for Amonte is simply put way too uneven.
  13. Falloon and Errey for last 2 rounds
  14. With our long conversation it is easy to narrow things out of context. This was just many of the different points of views we discussed and we were discussing trading picks. I havent blocked you from getting superstar traded. This is what was also said during our conversation, where I more clearly say you are allowed to trade whoever but it would just go through review. I admit though my response was harsh, but I said it in point of trading undrafted picks (and propably in the heat of the moment due to been called by so many ugly names by you). (1:32:07) swos94: rules doesnt say all trades are rejected (1:32:16) swos94: but trades involving top 10 picks are reviewed (1:32:23) FlamingPavelBure: WHy didn't you say so (1:32:40) FlamingPavelBure: I asked if you'd void ALL trades with top 10 picks (1:32:45) FlamingPavelBure: for contenders (1:32:50) swos94: propably yes! (1:32:53) swos94: most likely (1:33:03) FlamingPavelBure: Even if I give my 2nd rounder? (1:33:12) FlamingPavelBure: And I swap every round for the lower pick (1:33:28) swos94: I quess (1:33:32) FlamingPavelBure: Like god. What do i have to trade (1:33:33) swos94: it would have to be reviewed (1:34:01) FlamingPavelBure: xd... we could have dodged a 2Hr debate (1:34:07) FlamingPavelBure: just had you mentionned that (1:34:15) swos94: its written in the thread
  15. I dont understand what your problem is. You can trade whoever you want in your team as long as the traded players match and it's not done taking advantage of others.
  16. that's a fair assessment, but unfortunately not true. the decision to do something about the abusement of the system was done during the draft before the last season.
  17. trade seems fine to me, and if vocally thinks the same it's ok
  18. FPB is absolutely correct. We didn't make the rule to stop FPB trading himself a superstar to his team. First of all, the rule was made to make sure the trading system wasn't abused, for example taking advantage of novice players and their unfamiliarity of GDL players. This was to make sure any title contender would not have too superior team compared to others. The trades can still be made, but trading commitee will review all trades including top10 picks for potential title contenders. I actually encourage to try it so the commitee actions can be seen and improvements can be made if necessary. Secondly this does not only concern FPB, but all the other potential title contenders aswell, like IceStorm. This will and must be handled according to the rules. Since trading commitee will consist of swos, vocally caged and IceStorm, we will have to find some other veteran player to review IceStorm's trade, because naturally he cannot make decisions for himself. If 2 out of 3 of trading commitee allows the trade, it's approved. Now about reviewing a trade there's important things to pay attention to: - how equal are the traded players compared to eachother, and what will the teams look like before and after the trade. It's very hard or next to impossible to foresee how the teams will look like if the trade only consist of picks. If the trade consists of already drafted player it is much easier to see the outcome of the trade. - how dominant players/superstars are we talking about. We decided to review all trades including top10 picks for now, but naturally we are talking about much more dominant players in top5 compared to 10th pick. This is a line that still needs reviewing, and it helps to have these kinds of trades so they can be reviewed.
  19. Buffalo select Ron Hextall
