  1. Most of the EA Sports games don't work through Kaillera. Including the NHL series after '94. You could try using Kega, or an snes emulator, as most of the later NHL games are nearly identical on both consoles.
  2. I was with you all the way untill you said, "Genesis you have to lightly." As gr81 said: Their are more ways to score on Genesis. Back hand floaters. Picking the far corner with a slap shot from the circle. Sharp angle dekes. On Snes you're marooned to two options. 1 timer or deke. The experiment states quite clearly and you can read it for yourself. It's all there, black and white, clear as crystal. You lose. Good day sir! In case you missed that I'll translate in your idiom: "Whil3 I may b3 playing with pow3r. T3h Genesis gme has more more more!!!"
  3. addison, When MJ spoke to me over the weekend I offered him an extension and he declined. While Donch could fill the voild left by MJ at this point the season has gotten far too long in the tooth and it's best to put an end to this asap (hopefully this weekend). Your welcome to come back for season 3 if you like.
  4. Good to see '93's getting some love. '93 is the foundation on which '94 was built. But because it doesn't have one timers or goalie control it get's treated like a bastard child. Even without the improvements in '94 it's still a great game by it's own merit. If you want to play some more '93 some time I'm allways game.
  5. From a Philly native much respect! '94 used to serve as my crystal ball by doing demo games for whoever the Flyers would play on the eve of a matchup. Tocchets insiders had nothing on me. Record keeper looks great Donch!
  6. Both I think. Turn user records on in the menu, then during a game go to record holders at an intermission (or when you pause it). Press A + C to erase the records.
  7. Deadline has come and gone. When I saw MJ a few days ago I told him you guys were looking for him and gave him a link to this thread. I'll give monkeyjuice untill Tuesday the 20th to reply or LA advances into the finals by way of FF.
  8. Moog looks like Hannibal Lecter in his player pic. Like he's ready to gnaw on a brotha. Adam (Quaker) Oates was one of the premier playmakers in the game, and one of the best passers ever. Had he remained in St. Louis Hull would have had at least a few more 60 goal seasons (none of which he had once Oates departed). He was a allaround class act, unselfish player. I allways like playing with Oates in '94.
  9. After a game did you return to the calendar and then go back to Sports Central? I don't think it saves unless you do. The supreme nasal powers of Brid'Amour, Leclair, Recchi, and the Legion of Doom have been restored in Philly. I'm gonna take them to the cup. With the offsides on haha.
  10. Guys are showing classic symptoms of withdrawl. Proving that '94 is not "just a game".
  11. Thanks wboy for breaking it down (as usual). I wasn't sure how to mount the virtual cd drive. Fortunately dosbox detected my gamepad instantly as it did with NHL Hockey. To my suprise 95 is nearly identical to NHL Hockey aurally and visually with the exception of a few enhancements, like the ice and intro screen. The token reporters they have during intermissions look like they belong in the loafer section of a Sears catalog. How about those killer tunes? Makes me want to release my inner mullet. The game play feels like a hybrid of the Snes and Genny versions. Most of the ways to score are present but the goalies won't bite on cross creases and slappers aren't as potent. If EA managed to get manual goalies into the pc version and transplant the gameplay intact from Genny it might have a chance to dethroned the console versions of '94. xp makes dosbox's emulation a little slow causing some grainy play. Use Ctrl + F12 to speed up the cpu until it's smooth enough (usually around 10500). If you go a little to far, Ctrl + F11 will bring it down. They are saved automaticlly. When you want to load the season again go to file > open > select the season > then select the next league game.
  12. I had a chance to talk to MJ on Sunday. He said he was sorry about his hiatus and would like to finish the series.
  13. The matchup between PITT and EDM was completed 2 weeks ago. PITT won 4 games to none. I want to thank DaDonch44 and Logan for filling in as interim head coaches. I haven't decided what to do about the showdown between CHI and LA. But I will before this coming Sunday (Feb/18). Measures will be taken next season to ensure that this dosen't happen again. In all likely hood the league will also return to it's tried and true 4 team format.
  14. Who has to clean up all the debris when the glass is shattered? Who has to pick up all the hats after a hat-trick? And who never misses a game? Guy gets no respect. Would have made it to the pros had it not been for his knee. Now you can find him boiling frozen hot dogs on a portable propane pilot after hours in the janitors office; living off concessions and left over fan-giveaways.
  15. Amen. They've made the controler schemes wayyy to elaborate. I get discombobulated instantly trying to play with two sticks just to control the player. It's also frustrating to try and adapt to the newer games when there are certain moves and plays in '94 that you know will light the lamp every time, but are ineffective in the new games. Makes the goals more random, but it takes away from the strategy imo. EA has to pull as many rabits out of the hat as they can otherwise people will think that they are staginating and just releasing the same game every year (which is basically the case). I wish they would just take the game engine from '94 and slap polys on it. Or release the NHL games with a '94 mode thats unlockable or something.
  16. Last hurrah. Not like I have a choice since I did everything that moves. 94_sprites.zip
  17. The Ducks and Panthers weren't established untill '93, so you would have to find a way to fill those vacancies. Mabye the Efferdent All Stars with captain Chris Chelios to replace the Ducks. And Shanahan captaining the Centrum Silver-Manes filling in for Florida. The '95 rosters to '94 would be a cool idea. Most of the player cards from '95 are already present .
  18. Anyone know how to contact Malachku by means other than private message? I'm about to send smoke signals over here.
  19. Stars and Stripes in the lead with 18 members. Canada in 2nd with 13 members. Finland with 7 members. South America with 2 members. wboy stranded by his countrymen along with surehot for last place at one member a piece.
  20. It's probably a boot disk that's used to bypass a region lock. After the book disk loads and detour's the region lock it's swaped for a game from a different region.
  21. Ok I email'd it to your msn address. It's not the newest update since I got it 2 or 3 weeks ago. And for the record I take zero credit for the rom. The accolades belong to Swos, Mahavishnu, and wboy for his nose editor.
  22. Good stuff all around. One thing missing from the online experience is the ribbing and post game antics after a match. This doesn't translate well in online play so I keep away from this type of conduct.
  23. The CCC is about as stealthy as a marching band. Struting proudly, bombastic in all it's flavorless glory. When it comes to style this maneuver is on food stamps. However..I would rather have the game with it than without it. In 93 it's very tough to do and feels like there's something missing. It adds to the diversity in ways you can score. But players who use it exclusively should be put on rations of bread and water, make that just water, no, salt water.
  24. You don't know what your missing. It's more life like than ever. The way Hatcher is a gets run through like a turnstyle in the update as he does in real life is flabbergasting.
  25. The drop pass is an anomaly; I can only do it by accident. Happens to me with the same frequency as the CPU taking over and controlling the puck. You can pass it to your self against the boards with precision, there are some nice plays to be had if you learn how to do it in the offensive zone, especially on the powerplay. There are clips of Finnish players like Swos, taking the puck behind the net then flipping it over with the A button and ramming it home; I think it's called the keg toss. NHL'94 is like a Russian nesting doll. Even though I've been playing since the game was released, there are still things inside the game, that are inside of the inside game, that I can't figure out.
