Hey all, I've created 3 new tools for NHL95 PC to extract in-game sprites, music & sounds. The sprite extractor leverages gfxpak to get the raw image data out of the PPV files before the sprites are converted to .raw (Photoshop RAW, not Camera RAW) and .bmp format. Note that the music & sound extractors are WIP and aren't perfect. Also note that these are all written in js so they should be very easy to modify & or reverse engineer for importing.

Just an FYI-- I used to be someone who modded the EA NHL PC games starting with NHL 95 and then NHL 98 all the way to NHL 06. If I recall correctly I was the first one who released modded rinks (under the pseudo name Chris and the group RTM but then later with my own name) and also figured out the Centre Ice file format. I have been sad to see threads from 2012-13 with people trying to figure out how mod NHL 95, so I figure I should publish as much as this info as possible. I am working on an Engine remake of NHL 94/95 in Unity so this is why I have been spending so much time hacking.
I intend to make more tools soon-- the next one I'm looking to do is around palettes & extracting palettes from NHL 95 PC, and perhaps even 94 Genesis/SNES and have them in a format that can be applied to the extracted sprites and/or potentially even the ability to extract all the sprites with a specified palette.
I also have started to create a document with information on all the file formats in NHL 95. I figure I will post that information in this thread as I spend more time on it, and also add it to EA NHL Tools github above.
Nhl95 PC is my favorite sports PC game.I tried mod WHA https://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/19459-wha-73-74-nhl95pc-mod/ perhaps someone even liked it. I would welcome any improvements to this great game and I'm really looking forward to it.

Hi, my favorite NHL season is 92-93. It started on the NHL Hockey PC game and then I switched to the NHL Hockey 95 PC, here you can edit a number of things, so I'm still improving that season... Minnesota North Stars, adding players with previous seasons Guy Lafleur, Bobby Smith. I want to do it again. I've reworked the attributes of the players. (My other mods are WHA, NHL 75)

In 90s I had mod for NHL 98 or 99 with 14 Czech teams. It was possible to change the NHL league structure to European standard format (one league with x teams). Should be possible to do it with NHL 95 as well but it would be huge amount of work and for sure some source code knowledge would be also required.
Just an idea - in 70s there was no or very little advertising, what about to use as background images some old pictures from pre-90s era in black and white to give your mod more retro look?
Even I play SNES version onf NHL 94 most of the time nowadays I will give your mod a try, it looks so fine!
During the production of WHA mode for NHL Hockey 95, I had the idea to do the 1st Czechoslovak League, but the main one for me was the mod WHA. 1.The Czechoslovak League is still in progress, but the idea with black and white pictures is excellent, the screen for the opening of the match is black and white.

Great idea from League Two;) Editing almost everything, database, addresses and logos. I was an I.Hlinka fan. I'm watching a Czech League game right now

I don't know how to do it except as I wrote 7-7 Eastern Conference. The entire conference counts for the playoffs anyway. I think that would be good. Split teams by geography, I think that's how the Czech Hockey league sometimes worked. Otherwise, I'm from Czech Republic:) I have a Czech League in progress, but from 1978, my youth

Hey, I had 12 teams in WHA mode, so I only used the Western Conference. This could be the used Eastern Conference of 7+7 teams. Schedule's not the problem.

Such words are very pleasing. I'm glad I didn't do this mod for nothing. This mod probably can't be improved any more, maybe change teams. I was also pleased with the annotated video

Here I insert WHA v.1 contains the files I used while working.This version includes the Calgary Cowboys and Cincinnati Stingers teams who played in Czechoslovakia in 1977 and I saw this match on TV. The v.3 version I will produce will include this v.1 with customized player attributes and logos on the opening screen. Hockey WHA v.1.rar

I understand its a lot of work but any chance we could see an entire WHA team list with all the folded teams just for fantasy league play ??? I may play around with some editing stuff in the near future myself .Thought it was cool that with the NHL teams you didnt crop a WHL team over i was able to play some inter league matches.

In NHLINFO, I modified the properties of the players. There is no Dallas but Minnesota North Stars. try

Improved teams All-Stars and Quebec (jerseys 73-74) .
New league: Enter seasons 93-94, not random, database current, not original. Choose a WHA club. The season ends with the Western Conference Final playoffs. I would like to keep improving this mod.

American football (PSF 2024), Soccer (SWOS 2020)... many, many seasons, playing teams to choose from. Will it ever be in an NHLHockey95 PC? Or is it just a dream of mine?
