  1. Nothing out of the ordinary that I can think of... I'm not on AIM, so is it best to Media Fire it and send through the chat function on here?
  2. Hey Smoz, been using this for a while now and its a gem! Just wondering what the compatibility is like the the 30 team rom. I'm nearly finished on my ENL rom now (thanks for all the help by the way) but EARE crashes when I try to open it to change selectable teams (amongst other things). Any ideas?
  3. The hex addicts references links are broken, hence my dilemma.
  4. That guy tearing up by the boards at the end...that would have been me. Hell, I was half-way there just watching it! Cracking video!
  5. Morning everyone, long time no speak! I'm painfully close to finishing off an English national league mod for 94, and need a bit of help in finding a couple of things in tile molester; any help would be much appreciated. I believe I'm using an edited version of the 30 team rom. -colour pallettes for the menu team logos. -location of, and pallettes for 'home & away' name bars (shown on the in game pause menu) -location of, and pallettes for the Stanley cup sprite -location of, and pallettes for the zamboni Many thanks for any help you can give. Rob.
  6. All i'm saying is that if the franchise were to revert back to it's original namesake in Hamilton then it would roll off the tongue rather well, no need to get all snide.
  7. hmmm...I wonder... "I'm gonna kill Gary Bettman. I'm going to jail. I don't care anymore." Let's see how quick those NHL enforcement boats are across the atlantic.
  8. "The Hamilton Jets" has a nice ring to it...
  9. Anybody with romantic notions of a return for the Jets, Whalers or Nordiques can forget it, it isn't going to happen. But, what we will see should the franchise move to southern ontario, is a sustainable, successful franchise and thats something you can't get in Pheonix or Atlanta. The day that the Coyotes move is the day we move a step closer to the NHL of old; a niche market, yes, a minor sport in the US, possibly, but a sport that actually understands where it's heartland lies and where it's restrictions and boundries are. The greatest possible outcome of a Coyotes relocation is a bloody nose for Gary Bettman, and as he had more than a finger in the Pheonix pie, a time of self-examination for the NHL.
  10. Nice little adjustments...not sure about the ice colour though...it looks...pink. Although i'd like to see the references for the info your citing.
  11. No unfortunatly the rom will not include fighting. As far as i'm aware, and indeed as far as anyone on this site is aware, inplimenting fighting into NHL 94 is an impossibility without re-programming the game entirely. If any of us were that good we'd be doing this for a living. As it stands however, there is a slim possibility (lack of expertise not withstanding) of a slight suprise in the Platinum ROM. Something in the same vein that I think you might like. But of course, i'll never tell
  12. Firstly, the question. I'm in the final stages of the Platinum Rom, the only real thing of any graphical value outstanding is the editing of the ice textures. I need to revert the crease and face off circles back to the original NHL 94 textures, whilst leaving the bench area and penelty box untouched. Yes, I am aware of the wboy thread on editing and creating new ice textures, but this isn't what i'm looking for. The textures already exist, I just need to replace the new set with the old set. I'm using the 30 team rom as a base. Any help would be much appreciated. Ok, now onto the nice stuff, and some screen shots for you all to enjoy! Note that the ROM is still being worked on, so what you see here may not neccessarily reflect the final product. These screenshots are taken from the ESPN edition. NHL Platinum ROM: Featuring: -All 93/4 season teams, The 92/3 Season Campbell and Wales Allstars, and the 1992 Winter Olympic Finalists, The Canadian and Unified Teams. - SWOS Jersey hack means more accurate representation of your team on the ice. - Multiple graphic enhancements including detailed bench area, stick tape, player faces and enhanced sprites. - Two Presentation styles and cover atheletes (Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux): ESPN and Hockey Night in Canada featuring Don Cherry! - Accurate and detailed on ice logos, truer in colour and representation than the original ROM.
  13. It's a big job though for the entire ROM. I'd go down the HEX editing route before I did that, find out the code that influences player stamina and go from there.
  14. Ok, i'm gonna throw my pennies'worth in. I've played both games extensively over the last few months, and never really settled upon one or the other but each have their good and bad points. Gameplay: Megadrive (I refuse to call it Gens): Faster, more responsive, a bit more free-flowing, checks feel bigger, goal siren (although a horn would have been nicer), one timers are easier, AI is a little less challenging. More fun than it's Nintendo counterpart SNES: Checking over the boards (Awesome), better goaltender animations (they make proper scramble saves and actually cover the puck), better animations, slightly more scrappy and therefore more realistic gameplay. (although talking about realism in this title is probably a step beyond it's intention.) Graphics: Megadrive: Blocky, no real attempt at creating realistic looking players, innacurate uniforms with irritating pallate sharing, no stick-tape, no blades on skates, horrible day-glow ice colour, rubbishy bench area, crappy hatrick animations, centre ice logos (on closer inspection) look messy, on the upside a much nice zamboni. Snes: Better player build, player faces are less cartoony, wonderful scope for uniforms, stick tape, skate blades, goalies look far better, ice is a nice pale blue, fans are more animated, fans by the goal bang on the glass (something yet to be implemented into a modern hockey game), hatrick animation looks much nicer, centre ice logos are crisper and more fitting with the overall environment. Just a nicer looking game overall. In Game Sound: Megadrive: Tinny puck and player sounds, crowd cheer more at faceoffs than they do anything else, hitting the post sounds like dropping a paperclip, organ music is more frequent and more varied. SNES: Far superior in almost every department, the carom sounds and post hitting are two real gems, crowd is a little more subdued, organists don't enjoy their job. Other comments: Megadrive: Much cleaner menu environment, the hackers dream, better theme music, quicker into the game, better replay options. SNES: Cluttered, and sometimes plain ugly in the menus and splash screens, more regimented in terms of hacking, forgetable theme, the bloody long waits to get into a game, A QUIT GAME OPTION! (Means you don't have to bloody reset) *Awaits a bear baiting*
  15. It would have to be, because they are the only ones reliant on the strip pallates, the main menu logos have their own pallates. In answer to the original question, you will need a program called tile-molester in which you can load up the graphics found within the rom and edit them to your liking. You can find a copy of the program under the downloads section. To load up the rom and graphics, simply use the references download that wboy put up a while back...i think it's somewhere on the first page of the "Editing the game" section, if not just have a hunt around. You'll need to load up the correct graphic with the correct pallate, and change the colours from there; just don't change any shared pallates nor change any pink tiles. It might be a little tricky at first, but stick with it and you'll soon be flying through! Any problems or questions at all and i'll try to help out as best I can with the limited knowledge I have; drop me a PM and i'll be more than willing to help out. Good luck Rob (Ps: I'm working on a full bookmark file for TM that should be ready in the next week or so - If you can wait that long then it would probably help you out a great deal)
  16. I'm going to be doing exactly this as part of the Platinum Rom in a couple of days time, i'll give you a heads up if I come across anything
  17. Just a quick question to add to the one prior, is the 30 team rom WITHOUT the 06 rosters a playable Rom (without editing) because test playing the bare 30-team rom seems to make it crash...
  18. best way to do it, draw out a banner template in paint with the exact amount of pixels as your canvas, then chart out the banner. Leave a 2 Pixel border around a box for your text, then split that box into equal squares, each with a one pixel gap in-between. Then simply draw out the letters within the confines of each box. Better yet, copy and paste each letter from the original TM graphics, and create an alphabet you can copy and paste into each banner as needed. It's a long job, but it will certainly look smart. Have fun!
  19. Copied and pasted all the player tiles, as suggested, only problem is, I now have half see-through players. All the colours are correct, with the exception of the main jersey colour (ie, the one lightest shade of the 3) It's as if the game now thinks that the colour in the jersey is the same as the ice colour...which it isn't i've checked in NOSE; all the pallates are exactly the same as they were before. I have no idea why that's happened... anyone shed any light?
  20. ta SWOS, in TM i presume; you got the offsets for them?
  21. If anyone has any way of implementing the SWOS strip hack into a Vanilla copy of NHL 94, either through IPS patch or otherwise, please, get in touch with me in this thread or through PM. It is vital to the progress of the new "NHL 94 Platinum" Rom, and I cannot go any further without it. Thanks in advance. ============= NHL 94 Platinum: Features: - Authentic Jersey Representations for the 93/94 season, using the SWOS jersey hack - Original NHL 94 rosters, with new accurate expansion team rosters and stats. - New High Quality centre ice logos completely re-created for the ROM - Retextured Bench area and Penalty box - Sprite enhancements and stick tape courtesy of Clockwise - Weight balanced gameplay - Choice of menu and presentation themes with re-textured Splash Screens, menus and in game score clocks: Hockey Night in Canada (Featuring Mario Lemieux) and ESPN (Featuring Wayne Gretzky)
  22. Awesome stuff man! Fellow Kings fan gives you props! Oh and great stuff including my video, really nice gesture! I had no idea it was you doing the blog. I live in the UK and have read the blog/watched the youtube vids a good few times, trying to get more info than the British media feels necessary to give us. It's my dream to see the Kings play live and in the flesh, and after missing out on the Kings Ducks game in London a few years back, looks like it'll never happen. Shame about the playoffs this year, but next year (if we hang onto the players) should be a good'n! LETS GO KINGS!
  23. Thanks so much Clockwise! I was actually considering giving you a PM, but I thought against it in the end...decided that it was probably going to get backs up if anything. I've already had my fill of wboy's breadcrumbs (specifically where the logo bookmark pack is concerned, and creating better definition versions of some of the logos is an ongoing thing), but it's the decifering of the more complex breadcrumbs (scotch eggs if you will) that have had me in somewhat of a pickle. It's all a bit much to digest for someone new to this. The problem with the 30 team rom is that it seems to be taking more away from me than it's actually giving me; it changes the team data, the logos, the players, the stats, the splash screen theme, the ron barr text...it's a lot of change that I really don't want; and I don't see what I get out of it in the bargain. I've already applied your excelent sprite and stick tape hack, and fixed the weight bug, edited the pallates for logos and uniforms to the best I can, and i'm in the middle of applying real rosters to the 94 expansion teams. It's not like i've waited for someone to gift it to me, i've actively gone out and done stuff; i've just reached the wall. Really there are only very few things that i'm unable to do myself with the tools I already have; applying the SWOS jersey hack is probably the highest up on my list, and the search for an IPS file (even getting in touch with SWOS himself) has proved fruitless. It would also be nice to put his centre ice hack, and scoreboard hack in. I'm also having difficulty in finding things in tilemolester...I just don't have the first clue where to find things like in game score-overlay, the splash screen, the rink tiles etc. and getting them into a coherent arrangement for editing is just too much to handle. Please Help! Ps. Let's keep see how long we can keep the food puns going!
  24. Haha! I put a HUGE high stick in there from Mr.McSorley, what more do you want?
  25. Heres a short but sweet tribute to the LA Kings of NHL 94! Apologies for the terrible capture quality, the originals were really not that bad; but WMG blocked my audio so I had to re-compress the video with edited music. Hence why the song is up a step and a tiny bit slower than usual, it's to get past the WMG recognition. Anyway, enjoy it for what it is! Ps: I've included the rest of the song on the end of the video...just because it's fooking awesome!
