  1. I played CrimsonKing and the connection was good as was the game. But he and I live really close by and he had some connection issues earlier in the evening. Can someone else play him to confirm him? Thanks.
  2. Jamonica, you too are all set.
  3. I just confirmed Hossmann. We had two games with zero lag. His offense is rusty but a little practice and he'll be okay.
  4. Jared and I played a game and the connection was pretty smooth. He beat me 3-2 with TOR against my WAS in a pretty close game. I'm recommending him for the B division of GENS 40 game league.
  5. C'mon, you know you're confirmed egg. But I'll play you in a test game this weekend if you want to get some practice in.
  6. Nice tangent, but this thread is about Stuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu, haha!
  7. Yep, San Jose had three guys in the penalty box when we decided to instert Stu into the lineup. And we never had any idea Stu would start scoring like that. He was scoring off one-timers, off breakaways, off backhanders, off wrist shots, you name it. He would have had a couple more but his backhand is so weak that a couple times despite deking the goalie, the goalie was able to get up in time to make the save. It was insane, we were laughing so hard. Ah the funny things that happen at 2am, when playing NHL94.
  8. Oh yea, I forgot about having 4 lines! I like that feature. Plus, if I recall correctly, you can have forwards playing the point on the power play too.
  9. i'd like to play, but i think it might be hard for me to commit to 80+ games in 4 months. If it was spread out over 6 months I'd do it.
  10. Yea, I have that game haha! It was definitely a little different from the console version. Rosters were slightly larger, you could play out seasons, you could make trades between non-computer owned teams in your season. And yes, you got a Misconduct Penalty for knocking the referee over if you charged when you did so. Of course, sometimes the ref would get in the way of a sure-fire scoring opportunity so you wanted to charge him. Not easy to knock him over though cause his movements where fairly random and if you didn't hit him square he wouldn't fall down. A very fun game. I won the cup with San Jose going something like 76-3-3. One of those "extra" players not in the console version, J.F. Quintin scored 200 points for me haha! Last time I turned on that PC, I was in the midst of a season where I traded away all the Rangers good players for the worst players in the league and I was still kicking ass, but the computer wasn't that good. I'll have to turn on that old junker PC sometime and pull the application files over.
  11. Kudos to kgman as well, giving us something never seen in real life or in this league before, the Whalers a success in the playoffs.
  12. My slightly unconventional Detroit lineup this past season was: LW- Ciccarelli C - Yzerman RW - Drake/Kozlov/Sheppard LD - Racine RD - Lidstrom
  13. Keep in mind that the longer this round is extended the less time you will have to get the Finals completed. We have a deadline of the 14th for the Finals which we will only be able to extend a couple days at most. So please do whatever it takes to get this done! Thanks!
  14. Congratulations to Marc in GENS-A on winning the crown! The deadline for the other league championships is December 17th. As I think Evan already mentioned, that's the final deadline, no more extensions, so if you don't finish, we'll have to declare a forfeit. Good luck everyone!
  15. Yea come on guys. Just because the deadline is tomorrow doesn't mean you need to wait until the last minute. Let's get this series done so we can move onto the finals. If you need an extension or are having problems meeting up with the other person, please post and let us know!
  16. Let's get this round done folks! Good luck to all!
  17. ONE DAY extension for ROUND 2. The three remaining series have until Wednesday night (November 29th) to get their games done before we start issuing forfeits.
  18. Deadline is for round 2 action but feel free to get your games done for the conference championships
  19. I too enjoyed the writeup Schwartz. Kudos on a job well done with the Hartford Woe-lers.
  20. Hey, I know you're itching to play your next opponent Skoolyard, but chillax man. thegr8199 just got back yesterday from out of town. They'll get their games in, and then we'll forfeit FLA if they aren't already done.
  21. Sketchy? In your opinion maybe. I don't necessarily agree with those TSN rankings either, but hey they have their own method for determining those rankings and some people will always agree while others don't. There is no such thing as a "perfect" ranking system.
  22. Detroit, Michigan - The series started to turn in Vancouver's favor upon returning to Canada. "Their defense went all Emeril on us and kicked it up a notch," noted Burr. Vancouver took a 2-0 lead but saw Lidstrom cut the lead to 2-1 to give the Red Wings hope of closing out the series in game 5. Vancouver scored with a few minutes left though to seal a 3-1 victory. At that point a solid series went all haywire and Vancouver proceeded to win game six 6-1, and an anti-climactic game seven by score of 7-0. "I'm telling you they put a hex spell on us, and this time ALL of their players were wearing an Amulet of Ambiguity," said an exasperated Cheveldae." "Would you give it a rest," snapped Burr, "I'm going to get you NHL94 for Sega Genesis and show you how to stop a fricking deke forehand score into the upper corner of your net!" Nothing did seem to go right for the Wings as their offense, defense and goaltending all fell apart in the final two games. Lidstrom and Racine repeatedly were caught up ice, Yzerman, Ciccarelli and Sheppard missed net on 75% of their shots. In addition Cheveldae seemed to have switched uniforms with McLean as he was letting in every goal under the sun (albeit many of them breakaway style goals) while McLean stopped everything in sight (albeit most of the shots that made it to him went straight into his chest protector). "Did you see the way Lidstrom and Racine were constantly skating away from the puck?" questioned Burr. "A more viable theory than those dumb amulets, is that Jeremy Roenick was using voodoo on us." "Yea, I saw him in the crowd," said Burr's sidekick Hiller. "He was too quiet, he had to have been up to something." Vancouver even outchecked Detroit by a large margin in the final two games. "Our players looked like deer in headlights every time we tried to clear our zone and saw an oncoming Canuck player bearing down on us. That's why they never got rid of the puck in time. That's because Roenick was poking the voodoo doll eyes at the same time," noted Burr. "He was definitely making jabbing motions while in his seat," agreed Hiller. "It's not enough that Roenick has to play like God when he's on the ice," said Burr. "Now he's playing God when other teams are too!" In other news, the heartwrenching season caused Scotty Bowman to step down as head coach. "I can't take the up and down nature of this team anymore," remarked Bowman. "That and Fedorov constantly asking me to put in a good word for him with Anna made me realize it's time to move on." As for the open coaching position, the team is taking a hard look at Shawn Burr to be a player-coach for next season. "I'd like the opportunity to lead this team to the success it is so very capable of," said a politic Burr. "Having fun is the key to our success. And with me at the helm, you just know that we would have the most fun ever."
  23. Detroit, Michigan - An unlikely hero stepped up for Detroit in game 3. Yves "Don't Call me Frenchy" Racine scored two quick goals, the first on a sweet deke move through the Vancouver defense, and the second off a rebound of a Steve Yzerman shot. Yzerman then dished to Ray Sheppard for the third goal and Yzerman's third assist, and Detroit had a 3-0 lead less than two minutes into the game. "Yzerman has great vision," remarked coach Bowman. "Yea, when Stevie is dishing the puck out like that, we tell him we love to eat at the Y," chuckled Burr. "Why are you all laughing?" responded the apprently naive Yzerman. "Are you trying to tell me I should pass more or invite you all over for dinner?" asked Yzerman, upon which the entire team broke out into uncontrollable laughter. After a Vancouver goal got them within two, Dino Ciccarelli was a man on a mission to restore the lead to three. With the puck in Vancouver's zone, Ciccarelli checked down two Canucks, retrieved the puck from along the boards headed for the net, shrugged off a check by Jyrke Lumme and rifled a wrist-shot past Kirk McLean, as Detroit won game three 4-1. "If Linden was on drugs for his performance, shouldn't Ciccarelli be tested as well," accused McLean. "No way," said Brad "Foot In Mouth" McCrimmon. "I've seen him in the shower, there is no way he takes steroids! Oh wait, you aren't going to print this are you?" "Besides," noted Burr, "getting checked by Lumme is the equivalent of feeling a nice warm breeze on a sunny spring afternoon." Game 4 saw the start of a trend that would eventually prove to be the Red Wings downfall, giving up early goals. Vancouver took a quick 2-0 lead in the first. But Detroit was not dismayed as they quickly knotted the game back up at 2-2 before the Canucks found the net again to take a 3-2 lead after one period. The Canucks started to play very sloppily though after taking a 4-2 lead, and took a series of three penalties that gave Detroit an extended 5-on-3 power play. Yzerman made the most of it with a pair or power play goals giving him a hat trick. Shortly after the power play ended, Yzerman notched his fourth goal and Detroit held on for a 5-4 win and a commanding 3-1 series lead. "I just want to thank my teammates, my mom, my wife, my kids and God for giving me the strength to carry our team in a time of need," said Yzerman. "You can tell Steve has been around awhile because he's mastered a bunch of cliches that originated in 1982," said Burr. "But since he doesn't look any different than he did back then, it's not too surprising to hear the same things come out of his mouth"
