  1. Chicago should be Black Hawks instead of Blackhawks with that logo (this was reminded to me by mahavisnu)

Yes, until 1986 it was misspelled Black Hawks. Although sometimes in the early years it was also spelled Blackhawks. But after 1986 it was officially only Blackhawks as it was spelled that way in the original franchise documents.

  2. NHL2009.bin is out now. Rosters are incomplete, because preseason matches are on and teams have not made all cuts. So we don't know which players stays with NHL teams in which goes to AHL/juniors. Also we don't know what's gonna happen with guys like Sundin or Khabibulin etc. so wait for updates.

Rookie players are now weak. They will be better as season goes by. Its impossible to forecast how rookies will perform, so it's safest way to make them weak first.

Please inform if there are wrong sweater numbers or wrong handiness. I bet there are wrong numbers, because teams have not made all cuts and decide final sweater numbers.

  3. Very nice.

I was wondering about the player stats - if I'm going to use this in competition, I want each team to be a little closer in stats.

As you probably know, we are doing this for all NHL94 players, not for you. So I think that the Kings is the worst team in NHL2009.bin and the Red Wings is the best team. That's the scale. And I have received some feedback that teams already are too similar. And of course they are if you compare to original NHL94. But I think it is better that every team is playable. Very worst teams in original NHL94 are just horrible. Too horrible.

I gotta check those home/away and pp/pk advantages.

  4. Are we going to get an update to this rom for the 2008-2009 season? I would like to make this my bait-and-switch league rom.

Yes. But first we gotta know where players like Sundin, Schneider, Selänne etc ends. Rosters are 95% done. Swos is going to do some graphics updates also.

  5. It's halfway point of NHL season and it's time for new and adjusted version of NHL2008.bin. NHL2008.bin is now more realistic with more speed and with adjusted goalies. Now best teams like Red Wings and Senators really are the best and worst like Kings are the worst. And best players really are best players. But still all teams are very playable. Player stamina depletion and recovery are also adjusted. Players don't lose energy as fast as in earlier version, but you still have to use all three lines, because in real NHL games teams do use all lines.

  6. I love the All Stars94.bin, because it is almost pure copy of our (swos & Mahavishnu) All-Stars.bin (http://www.nhl94.com/update/). You have been plagiarized our bin and you don't even bother to thank us. Or more importantly you don't even bother to ask our permission to use rosters and graphics of All-Stars.bin.

Difference between the bins is that our bin was made in era when there wasn't Nose editor. Therefore there is only 28 teams and the teams are not in alphabetical order. So you have just moved our bin to the 30 teams version of NHL94.

  7. NHL2008.bin (by swos & Mahavishnu) finally released.

    http://update.nhl94.com/

And as always, this rom and it's rosters are updated constantly.

All rookie players, except goalies, are currently overall 50-58, because it is impossible to forecast how good they'll be. Rookies will be adjusted as soon as possible, if they perform well in real NHL.

  8. the 2007-2008 season is coming up preety soon, and i think rosters are finished....... has anyone begun making a new rom for this game? i woulde be very interested in new about it

    thanks, kyler

Yes. As always, swos and I are making a new rom. The NHL2008.bin should be published Oct 3 or Oct 4.

  9. As swos said, NHL2007.bin is now updated. Rosters are updated to current situation of real NHL, but there are still some UFA-players in their old teams. They'll be moved as soon as we know their new teams. Some minor moves are not included (Tim Jackman to the Islanders, Mathieu Darche to the Lightning, Shane Willis to the Predators, Wade Brookbank to the Hurricanes, Toby Petersen to the Stars), because these players are to believed start the 2007-08 season in the AHL.

We are again updating NHL2007.bin constantly. Trades and other new stuff are updated as soon as possible.

  10. Thanks, this is totally kickass. i dont think im going to sleep this whole weekend. Is this the latest version btw?

Date of the latest version is in the Latest News box. As you can see, the latest version is published Nov 3, 2006.

  11. ya i dont actually dislike this rom..it is pretty solid.. just needs some tweaks thats all

but if your going to have roloson who is apparently 98? OV..why not have jagr who is probably the best player in the world right now a 90 OV or so..also Ovechkin is probably the most dynamic player in the world hes gota be up there as well.

    Don't you read my messages?

We think that it's best for gameplay to have GOOD goalies and equally matched players. That way games are tighter and more exiting. In original NHL94 you could easily score 10-20 goals in 5min period games, that's not realistic. Original NHL94 had too wide margins between players overall ratings: elite players were something like 90 and the rest were something like 60. Not good. We like that scoring is harder and in NHL2006a & b it is harder, because goalies are GOOD and skaters are not so good!

And as I said, I'm going to update player attributes after the Stanley Cup playoffs and then Dwayne Roloson is not going to be OV98. But Jaromir Jagr is never gonna be OV90 in NHL2006a & b.

This is my and swos' view of updated NHL94. If you don't like it, be free to edit and update your own version. As I said, it's just impossible to please everyone, because people like different things. You like superhero skaters with overall 90, we don't.

  12. Thanks for your feedback. Sorry to hear that our roms are totally useless s**t. I'll try to make them better. But it's just impossible to please everyone, because people like different things...

About some of the attributes discussed here:

-I don't think any of the current players deserves speed 6. Pavel Bure might have speed 6.

-some likes ultra fast players and weak goaltendes. Not good. We like that scoring is harder and in NHL2006a and b it is harder!

    smozoma:

-You are right about most of the players you listed (I disagree with speed 6 and overall 90 thing). I haven't had time to check every players attributes right now. Is a said, I'm planning to update all player and team attributes after the Stanley Cup playoffs.

  13. not yet, I was going to release a beta version of it wth the rosters and then include the logos in the final version.
