  1. Ties are awesome. They're so rare, they're almost worth celebrating. I missed the playoffs in GDL2 because I had a tie game (if i'd won it, i'd have made it!)
  2. i'd say even 50 would be ok. Look at the top goalie sv% http://65.36.133.56/nhl94_draft/playerstat...&leagueid=1 The annoying guys all have less than 20 shots. Healy has 35, and can almost be considered a 'dependable backup' who sees some real action once in a while. Fiset has around 90 shots faced, and I think he deserves to be on the list. Irbe has almost 50.
  3. each game has two teams, so divide 672 by 2 = 336 games
  4. Just do 2 goalies. Most poeple draft their 2nd goalie last. a 3rd goalie would be even more pointless. Don't do full rosters. I do like the idea of line changes, but drafting 9/6/2 would take forever with 20+ teams unless you came up with some interesting/revolutionary way of doing it, like letting people pick two players at once each round other than the first.. It's actually pretty darn hard (and very fancy ). Even if you already have a few hundred hours of experience doing web/database programming, putting it all together and making sure the stats work between seasons, and when coaches switch teams, and when rosters change at the end of the season.. It's a LOT of work. Writing the code(queries) to pull the correct data from the database can be really frustrating when it doesn't work and you can't figure out why. I have a system that i'm going to make freely available that will do seasons. An early version of it is in use by the Dynasty League and the FVHL. You could probably easily just re-write the savegame parser to parse SNES games instead of GENS games. It'll be ready in a few weeks I think. I've stopped giving out help with it, though, so you'd be on your own getting it set up and running, but it'd save months of work.. I've been working on it since 2005 or 2006. oh, and my system's web interface is really ugly (i'm no graphics designer) I'm not sure how well trades work in my system.. I think the FVHL league is going to guinea pig it.
  5. (home team listed first, winner in bold) PHI 6, STL 8 STL 2, PHI 3 good games, lots of hitting
  6. Bug: in userstats, when you go to playoffs, the points are messed up. it looks like it is including regular season OTL also look wrong: SOGA SV% PIMA anything "against" really FL
  7. i don't think paying for the 100$ service will do anything. that just increase your kbps from like 7mbps to 10mbps, right? it's not going to affect your ping.
  8. p2p hamachi -or- proper router settings problem solved?
  9. sorry hokkee, your window didn't start flashing last night when you messaged me back, so i didn't know you were ready to play. anyway, i'll be on more in the coming days
  10. I still remember the first time I saw a guy get checked over the boards, playing with my brother 14+ years ago.. laughed so hard. PS: "Save as type: PNG (*.PNG)" = way smaller file size
  11. This is an important point. It's really best to have a home-and-home series. I just takes 10 minutes longer..
  12. You give yourself too much credit No one is interested in this 'drama'
  13. the comment is 'against' the ridiculous argument going on
  14. It was competitive in the first period, but then it seems like Detroit just learned how to defend against them and dominated from then on. They just waited for mistakes and took advantage of them. It looks like the Pens are going to be the Oilers of 1982-83, swept by the old guard. They'll probably win in the next couple years, though.
  15. how is a "unique" visitor defined? I suspect that if i close my browser and then return to the site, it counts as two views..
  16. Yeah, this is why my passing is next to last in the gdl league
  17. It's not particularly uncommon to win 80+% of the faceoffs in a game, and the game doesn't know what happens in other games you play, so that doesn't really make sense (tracking the percentage). The fact that everyone is between 40-60% suggests that it's "pretty much" random. I know that checking is a bad strategy, anyway; You'll usually lose the faceoff (though maybe check a guy and steal the puck). It's the same with passing. No matter how careful you are, maintaining a passing percentage of over 60 over many games is pretty much impossible, unless you make reeeaaally easy passes all the time. Also, checking is not a simple "who is lighter" matchup. Sometimes you bounce off, sometimes you don't (though typically the lighter guy wins.. but not always!) It's the genius of the game, really, the randomness.
  18. freakish experiment gone oh so right, i would say
  19. I think giving them all "5" stats instead of 6 would probably actually be more fun.. 6 speed is just so fast for online (inherently laggy) play. Not to mention everyone having a shot better than Roenick..
  20. see here http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?showtopic=4917 If you aren't playing online, skip all of section "# Record a Game to a KREC File" skip the first 5 steps of section "# Convert the KREC File to a GMV File" and then start playing your game, which will be recorded to GMV and GST files
