1. Houly HABS and Frey still need to make their 12th pick. Nonetheless, if it helps with the ROM, I can send the current rosters and players to someone electronically, just PM me. It won't have the preferred lineups though.
2. What is going on with this??? Kupuck and Bo are done, but Beavers, Zalex and Freydey still have to finish up their rosters. Spreadsheet is updated from these last trades as well. Why the hell was the draft so rushed in the first place if the start date for this league is indefinite?
3. I updated the spreadsheet with these trades. Frey, you're still 1 defensemen short and $1.5M over the cap.
4. I watched game 1 from the 2nd period on, so I missed the Pens first 3 goals, but the Flyers just had more energy and determination during the entire time I watched and almost seemed inevitable.
5. CAN 100 - USA 87. http://www.blitz94.com/summit/teamstandings.asp Good question though -- is someone running summit this year? I really hope so, it was awesome last year and USA will come back strong this year to win! :D
6. Yeah, I think it's important to emphasize this. Note that your RW will always seek to go right, LW left, and Center at center. So in your scenario, you have the RW (F1) coming down the right side with the option to hit the trailing C (F2) for a one-timer or pass behind the net to your LW. OR, keep the puck with the RW, go around the net and try the one-time to C. This wouldn't work if you brought your center down to right corner, as your RW would be standing next to you, wondering what you're doing in his zone . Great thread! Hope to see more analysis on AI!
7. Sooooooooooo close, lol. Ggs! Great season, thanks for setting it all up Frey, looking forward to the next WC. Hopefully Wookie and I can do some damage in Summit. I'm pretty sure I have games 3-7 recorded...sadly the epic games 1&2 live only in our memories. Gl in the finals.
8. Bump, I updated the first post with the latest (Season 06) results. I'm also posting the results after season 5 below, for reference.
9. Ah yes, you're right! Apologies Robbie, the results have been known, I just somehow missed it. Well, a long overdue congratulations are in order to Freydey! Nice job, very impressive to say the least.
10. Use this code:
Put what you want hidden here
It HAS been ages, but for those who have not inquired (like me), we wouldn't know who won because it hasn't been updated on the Blitz site and/or the videos haven't been posted.
11. Updated with the latest official trades. Houly was right -- ANH replaces STL with the 3rd best Forward line of Roenick/Tikkanen/Holik. Also, 3rd best starting lineup (with goalie) goes to DAL.
12. Yeah, and I'm starting Sanderson over Zhamnov. Remember, these ratings are based on the attribute values from the survey given to the community. Each person has (or should have, at least intuitively) their own personal preference.
13. I'm good after 9pm. How about 11? Just let me know what works for everyone else.
14. I can update all this once the draft is over (it's very quick) -- your trade is still "unofficial" as it's not on the Blitz site.
15. I figured I would re-post smozoma's original thread regarding lines from the 06 season. This is helpful to set replacement players during penalites, etc., and since we're all putting our lines in here, I think it's helpful to have this when (if?) smozoma does the official lines. Here you go: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Please use the format/order below. It is the order the NOSE editor uses, so if they're written this way, it's way faster to make the lines in the ROM. If they're not like this, I'll ignore them. Thanks. Also, if you have two players with the same number, you can specify a new number for one of them (or i'll do it myself when i make the ROM, not a big issue). Here's how you should choose a new number for them: The better player should keep their original number (except in the case of a starting goalie and starting skater.. change the goalie in that case). Try to change the number to another number they wore during their career. Or, just add 1 to their old number (or more if someone else has that number!) Example: If you have two defense with say the number 4, change the lower rated player to either 5 or 44 or another number he wore. I want the better players to keep their numbers whenever possible, to avoid confusion, getting surprised not knowing Bure was changed to 96 or whatever. AJ explained how the subbing during penalties works: Bo made a really detailed thread explaining how line subs work: http://forum.nhl94.c...showtopic=11492 I think there was some issue with Bo's method... oh well.
16. Freydey and KingRaph both swept their opponents, Wookie and smozoma, respectively, to move on to the East Division finals! Congratulations on your great survivor seasons, Wookie and smozoma! You are both real class acts and I would love to see you back for season 2! KingRaph and Freydey can play their series at any time now. Things are held up a bit in the West Division. Carse leads Houli 3-2 in their series, and it's unclear if that will finish due to some desynch controversy. Since BoKnows and IceStorm have yet to play their series, or explain why they haven't ( ) , the Carse/Houli series will remain open. While I'd love to see this finished with no incidents, if Houli can't/doesn't want to play the remaining games, Carse will move on the the West finals by forfeit. Carse just has to pick a home team that he can't use in the future. I leave you with this eloquent quote from Freydey:

18. Inspired by Robbie's team analysis thread, here are the Blitz 07 team rankings. I did this for the season 06 teams, the only thing I changed was normalizing forwards and defense separately. I've been thinking about a better way to come up with overall ratings that mix F/D/G, but haven't done so yet. Anyway, here are the rankings, presented for entertainment purposes only. -------------------------------------------- Without going into too much detail, I used the same premise as my classic Team Rankings analysis to come up with these rankings. Things I changed: Checking Ability substituted for Weight in player ranks Normalized F/D to 100 (normalized each group separately, so Bourque is 100, and Lemiuex/Mogilny are 100). Goalie weight from 6 to 3 in overall team ranking. Strong goalies are more important for less skilled players, and Blitz has a much higher skill level than classic overall I sorted the list by overall team and I included a few different ratings so you can get a sense of what the team strengths are - forwards, defense, goalie, etc. The first section is the team ratings, the other section is how those ratings rank. 19. Good question. I think it's best to get some video examples of what you're talking about to help illustrate your point. I'm also curious about the effect of "offensive awareness". I'd like to create 6 players, all with the same attributes except OfA would be 1-6. Then, try to set up the same play over and over enough times to determine if there is any difference in the AI. For example, I can take the classic "winger to the corner, set up the one-timer to center" play and do it over and over. Each time I would record what the C is doing (this is the player with OfA 1-6 variable) and see if high OfA means he sets himself up for the one-timer better than without. And so on. As long as you try to keep everything else consistent (same teams, same everything), and the play consistent, this test should answer some questions. I'll probably do this very test (and others) soon and share the video results. Along with DfA, Chk, etc. attributes. If it hasn't been done already, I think it would be informative and helpful.
20. I agree, I'd rather have Mogilny and Carson than Sandstrom and Bellows, but the beauty of a draft league is you can build the team how you like it! I think I can say Robbie is happy with his team, so that's what matters. My only comment, well in addition to what I wrote above, is your goalie -- Mike Richter. I would've added him to your weaknesses area. I actually think John Blue is better, or in the same class at least, and we all know how much you loved him! Anyway, nice write-up! Best thing to do now is have a great season!
21. Yes, my fault on this...sorry for the confusion. I counted my protect as a pick, not a player. Thanks for clearing that up for me smoz.
