  1. Yup. This applies to snes to. 'Goalie Management' is the idea, which consists of using both automatic and manual goalie to maximum effect. Also, when using manual, economy of movement is big. Big, jerky movements and overcommitment will lead to open nets. The best save involves the least movement, and as little of the net open. Optimally, you should only need extravagant movements on one timers or if you've already made a mistake. This does not apply to collecting dumped pucks and crushing guys behind your net. Go wild. While stacking the pads is excellent indeed, I personally prefer the 'Y' flop tackle, to be used as liberally as possible.
  2. Offsides do get annoying when people don't adjust to it. Other than that its actually pretty fun because you have to orchestrate your offense better. I would say its better left out of classic though, especially with the high number of inexperienced players. Line changes + offsides + ten minute periods = real hockey
  3. Ok, but you're not arguing for it being a penalty, you're arguing it for being a suspension. The intention is what matters in suspensions, not penalties, that's the crucial difference. High stick = high sticking penalty whether intentional or not, high stick= no suspension, intentional high stick =yes suspension Also, the difference between a 'hockey play' and and illegal play can be very slight, like a difference between roughing and just being mean. It comes down to the referee raising his hand. People are acting like Chara has the mentality of a murderer, when you don't know that, and you can't know that from the play itself. A player you should be judged equally, whether he tripped somebody and the guy was ok, or he tripped somebody and he happened to break his leg on the boards, everything else about the penalty being equal. You can argue the hit was late and therefore interference, but you can't argue the hit was inarguably so late or malicious it requires a suspension, nor can you argue that the hit was late and therefore interference, and therefore worthy of suspension.
  4. It isn't 'modern' to want to lock somebody up for some perceived or vicarious injury they have caused you. It's just another type of violence that has being going since the rule of law. Everything regarding Chara's intent on this specific play is mere speculation. You simply can't punish Chara for the worst possibility that this incident may represent, even if it has some credibility, because he has the alibi of this being a hockey play gone wrong. The play itself remains pretty ambiguous. At the very least Chara was being reckless. It's a reckless play to finish a check by a stanchion. But compare this play to the McCorsley and Bertuzzi incidents, minus the results of course, which should't figure in, and you can clearly see the disparity of visible intent.
  5. I have no idea why you guys are in such a rush. You're going to be waiting around for laggards to finish their games anyway. A classic season should be savoured like fine wine, not shotgunned like so many cans of domestic beer. But yeah, still infinitely better than being a slacker. Play your games people.
  6. Sorry if this has been covered, but how were the Snes 1 and 2 leagues divided, and what, if any interaction do they have between them?
  7. Whoa. What the f**k did you say about the Islanders??
  8. Thanks everybody, special thanks to Halifax and Chaos for another expertly run season. I knew it was destiny when the Oilers slipped into my hands at the draft. Toxic could have finished me off earlier with Denver if not for a bad icing, a :14 second faceoff pocket play, and a double OT clincher. Fortunately in the finals I was able to figure how to play defence which I'm sure I'll forget how to do by the start of next season. That Gretzky guy isn't so bad after all, I guess.
  9. I still kinda of like a unified league, especially for Snes. You might have good reasons for switching it back but I don't think there was too much of a problem with it last time. Whatever.
  10. Sorry, been trying to get this done. Haven't been as available recently, and to find Fenty you need to be alert at all times. Posted in 'schedule a game' if that matters at all.
  11. Not sure what I'm trying to accomplish here, but yeah, I'm trying to play Fenty. Fenty let me know man. I can play tomorrow (Sunday) pretty much anytime.
  12. Way to turn this legendary undertaking into a lame Snes vs Gens session people. Dangler, that's an awesome story. I wonder if using a Roenick signed cartridge makes him even better in the game?
  13. I played OneLeggedGoat, he should be good to go. I tried to confirm with the link suggested but he's not on the scroll list or whatever.
  14. Hey yo I'm back bigwigs. Let's try get this thing done tomorrow or the day after. Iceguy let me know if you want to play at a specific time in mind, otherwise I'm just going to look for you on aim.
  15. I most likely won't be able to play until mid to late week. If you want to get things moving I understand using a replacement for the Stags, but if you can hold on that would also be good.
  16. Hey, my computer has recently gone catatonic so I'm not entirely sure when I'm going to be able to play next. Hopefully within the week. I'll try to keep you all apprised of this very tragic situation the best I can.
  17. It probably wouldn't fill an hour.
  18. Congrats to Toxic for winning the big one and representing SNES to the max. I had a feeling he'd take it after he smashed me in the league and playoffs. Messier makes good on his guarantees. Also, big ups to Hokkee for stepping up his game this season and sticking it to a lot of good players. Hopefully you stay around for other seasons and bring some other good Gens players with you. On the other hand, you guys both suck for using heavies It's good to see a Snes final actually get played. Cheers
  19. The Michigan Stags are making their first appearance in the WHA playoffs after a thrilling hungover 4-3 overtime victory against Baltimore. They hope the franchise doesn't move or fold between now and their first play off series. GG
  20. I am shocked you have such an accurate description of me. Soviet Ethic was strong! Not play for money but for country. Meanwhile, the Stags players will be payed with coupons to the local strip club owned by the GM. Listen, I'm trying to find Fenty and his pot of gold, but he remains elusive. The only time he ever seems to respond to me is if I'm playing another game, and when I'm done he's gone. The guy always has 'WHA?' as his status on aim. I'm pretty sure he's screwing with me.
  21. Pffff, it's not like I like the match up either. Still, I get why you might be a little nervous.

    HBO 24/7

I saw the episode. I thought it would be a lame Ovie and Crosby suck fest but it was amazing. I strongly suggest people watch this whether they like hockey or not. Some pretty funny stuff happens too.
