  1. Hmm, I didn't realize the first round was best of 5. We did it best of 7 in standard NHL format (@Bos, @Bos, @SJ, @SJ, @Bos, @SJ .. end of series, but it would've been back to Boston if I had won). On best of 5 he would've won 3-0, however he also had 2 home games to start. I'm not sure how you want to handle the game uploads for it.. edit: for clarity's sake, it went like this: Game 1 @ Boston, Boston won Game 2 @ Boston, Boston won Game 3 @ SJ, Boston won Game 4 @ SJ, SJ won Game 5 @ Bos, SJ won Game 6 @ SJ, Boston won
  2. SPOILER: Boston moves on past San Jose 4-2 in the series in SNES-C. I'd upload the states to sea-hag for now, but I don't see freydey on the list. Boston dominated most of the series, though. SJ couldn't keep up with the chunkiness
  3. I'm going to have to drop out of the league. The drafting snafu kind of caught me off-guard, but I just don't have enough time to dedicate to all of the league maintenance. Originally kero5hin and I were going to split the team, but he doesn't have time for the draft stuff either. Cleveland, out!
  4. Yeah, it's exactly like the genesis version (except the framerate makes it kind of difficult to play). The sounds are hilariously bad, but it makes me appreciate 94 even more.
  5. Some of these issues could be alleviated by having a blind auction. Have the same time limit, but let people give their MAXIMUM bid once (and hidden) for a given player. You'd still have to do them in clusters (maybe 5-10 players at a time), but it would go faster and give people a better opportunity to plan out their salary structure beforehand for the players they want. Right now it's a bit too much for me. I don't have time to keep up with the draft like it is.
  6. I missed a couple threads on players I wanted and they were closed before I even really got to check it out. :\ It's really difficult to find who you want when they're not in alpha order and you can't have a watch list that alerts you if you've been outbid. I'm not sure I have enough time to keep checking in every day to stay up with it.
  7. I made the sea hag site to effectively get people involved immediately. I've had several nubs reach out to me to play, but with so few vets playing on it, it's really difficult to gain any traction with the new folks. Granted, I could add more functionality to SH to make it more flexible, but it comes down to a chicken or egg situation. I started with Snes-only, and when people asked for gens, I added it. I think there were approximately 10 recorded gens games total in the past 8 months. For Snes, there have been hundreds (although probably 95% are from me/HeatRash). My point is that everyone has grand ideas, but no one seems to actually want to do anything other than leagues. Sea hag has rankings based on games played using the Glicko-2 ranking system. I can add some sort of king's court challenge/leader, but even with the gens series going on (with a suggestion by kingraph to use SH), no one uses the site. It seems like the preference is just to log final scores on the forum. I have said before that I would like to release the sea hag code, and I still want to, but it is sloppy from being so stream of thought. I haven't had time to clean it up properly for release, but there has also not been any demand to drive me to do so.
  8. Of the 90 teams in the leagues, 87% of the people have completed their games (according to the stats as they sit right now on this page). 90 teams on a site dedicated to a 20 year old game is pretty impressive. Add to that the fact that we have quitters and no-shows like yourself and it's even more impressive.
  9. Yikes. This is the second time he's quit in classic (last season was in SNES). Can we just stop letting him sign up?
  10. I'm waiting for Brutus and Plabax to break down and just become lovers.
  11. Yeah definitely. We're going over draft strategy now. I think it will be me bidding. If it helps, we can make a new aim name that we share so that people only need to IM one person.
  12. I've asked kero5hin/heatrash to co-manage/play my team. I'm going to be pretty busy in the upcoming weeks and neither of us has time to dedicate full-time to a team, but if we both play the same one, we will be fine. Any issues with this?
  13. Yeah! that's one of the main reasons I play SJ so often. Plus they're teal..
  14. If I get beat by 10+, I'm just having a really bad game. Even in my worst games, I should be able to slide 1 in. I hate the goose egg!
  15. Nope, I've used mine for every league game as well as 29380913809 exhibitions on sea-hag. No issues at all.
  16. I'd love it if there were more tourneys. The seasons tend to drag on from the slacks, but if the tourney is set for certain days, it would pretty well take care of that. Count me in.
  17. Played and confirmed JackandJose94 for SNES: http://www.sea-hag.net/game/6101-wambo-5-jackandjose94-1 http://www.sea-hag.net/game/6111-wambo-8-jackandjose94-4
  18. After training for a few weeks while Boston grabbed their new coach, SJ fell, quite literally, to the Bruins in 3 of 4 games. While SJ worked on finesse and speed during their lull, Boston apparently spent massive amounts of time devouring everything in the New England area, boosting their weight to an average of 1500 lbs per man. It's unclear if the ice was cracking or it was just the foundation of the arena, but there was a distinct edge for the Bruins when it came to staying on their feet. The Sharks couldn't keep their footing long enough to set up any plays, going 1 vs 3 or 4 multiple times. It was only the golden stick of Patty "Ohgodwhy" Falloon keeping the series close in any of the matchups. Game 1 of the series was a "feeling out" for both teams. The Sharks were feeling the pain of having the monstrosities of Beantown thunder through, by, and over them, while the Bruins were feeling every square inch of the ever-open net behind Arturs "Ghostie on Goal!" Irbe. BOS 7 - SJ 2. Game 2 has SJ scoring quickly to gain a 2-0 edge, but true to their Jenga-like constitution, they tumbled into a self-destructive spiral, losing the lead in the last minute of the game. BOS 5 - SJ 4 Game 3 was a good ol' "welcome to the shark tank!" by the Sharks. Unfortunately for SJ fans, they were perhaps too gracious to the visiting Bruins, giving up 4 straight goals and really not getting as close as the final indicated. The sharks were more than doubled in shots and almost doubled in checks. BOS 4 - SJ 2 Game 4 has the Sharks trying to save face at home, firing shots from every possible angle at an attempt to salvage something from the series. Once again getting out to an early lead only to blow it, the Sharks scored 3 third period goals to even the score at 4-4 heading into OT. WIth Cam "KICK HIS ASS SEABASS" Neely and Vladimir Ruzicka in the bin within the first couple minutes of OT, the Sharks had that special feeling of victory in their guts. Pucks and checks and penalties, OH MY. While trying to crash the net, Ed Courtenay got carried away, leaving himself in the bin to reflect on how literally he should take "crash the net." The game ended in a tie, with the Sharks feeling unsatisfied with no wins and the Bruins unsatisfied with the hotel room service menu. Good series! It was fun.
  19. At least they picked the right platform to show off!
  20. Don't get me wrong, you can pass-shot and score in SNES as well, it's just tougher than Genesis. I don't think it's cheap or ruins the game unless it goes in EVERY time. SNES, I think in general, is tougher to score on. Just my 2c. Anyway, I'm glad people enjoy Genesis still. I think these discussions are fun for getting a full view of both platforms. It gives me a chance to go in and rediscover some of the simple joys I take for granted while I'm playing. like beating the hell out of Calgary with 4 replaced NJ starters!
