  1. I think the best strategy with GDL might be downsizing the league and playing more games against fewer coaches. Fewer opponents with more games per session makes it easier to hammer your games out. Instead of having to track down 23 coaches it's much easier to track down 17 or whatever. The big problem is there just isn't as much interest from many of the coaches. I know I fall into that category. But if you go around banning coaches you're really going to water down the competition. Maybe instead we should make it more exclusive and that would encourage people. Plus, then if people don't play the waiting list would be stronger too, making slackers easier to replace.
  2. You need to have an SD card, a way to put data on the SD card (my laptop had an SD card slot) and you need to install the Homebrew Channel. You'll have to use Google there. I installed my Homebrew Channel years ago, and I have no idea how to do it now. Once you have the Homebrew Channel, then you can download emulators and run them through the Homebrew Channel. From there it works just like loading a ROM on Gens. http://wiibrew.org/wiki/List_of_homebrew_emulators
  3. I wish. Unfortunately I doubt there would ever be enough interest generated for someone to make that happen. Edit: Here's some forum from 2010 talking about it http://forum.wiibrew.org/read.php?24,50091,50097
  4. I'll give my prediction about the next round for a small fee
  5. I had no idea it was such an honor. Do I get credit for knocking myself out of Blitz every year?
  6. Even if Kega is better than Gens overall, (and I agree, it is) it still has some downsides like button delay. Also I know saving states with a hotkey was an issue for a while, so it made that process a pain. I guess what I'm getting at is you're not going to get people to switch from something that they've been using and are comfortable with to something new unless it's clearly that much better, like an emulator similar to ZSNES. ZSNES is able to send and load savestates with the other person so it eliminates desync issues, you can chat in game, minimal button delay, etc. There's really nothing bad that I have to say about it other than you can't copy and paste IP addresses so you have to memorize a few numbers and alt-tab around a bit, but really if that's the worst thing then who cares. I bet If we had something that was just so much better on every level then people would be all over it, but unfortunately Kega has its own downsides so people don't want to make the effort to switch. I agree about the screen resizing thing and I think it does help with lag. I remember some guy on here used to go on and on about how to exactly set up your Gens so everybody was uniform because he believed it didn't lag as much that way. But really, good luck getting everybody to cooperate with that for tons of reasons.
  7. I want one with a 94 skater on the side like he's skating the Swoosh and Ron Barr's face on the tongue! I'm sure Nike will be all over it
  8. Haha I would never speak badly about my own people though. LET'S GO PENS
  9. Battle of the 2 most obnoxious fan bases! I bet this one goes 7 games. MTL wins it if it goes 7.
  10. http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/16125-anyone-remember-to-play-your-league-games/#entry137315
  11. Soderstrom scored another one! Two goals in one season for Soddy. http://www.nhl94online.com/html/box_score.php?gameid=15500
  12. No nothing like that at all. I re-read your post I guess you didn't say you were up. So he was really just mad about you skating around when you were losing the game?
  13. I have a weird feeling that Nahka was cheesing pretty hard by ragging the puck around in his own zone to get a win so FPB started spazzing and pausing during the other games during play. In my book ragging the puck and killing the clock to a win in a video game is really really lame and I'm going to judge you and make sure I kick your ass extra hard so that doesn't happen next time, but it's definitely not illegal or cheap. But pausing during action is totally uncalled for (unless it's an emergency or something) and if he really did that because he was mad about Nahka killing the clock then he's the one in the wrong.
  14. Soderstrom scored a meaningless goal with 1 second left and it registered the goal he scored as a goal against. I know this bug has been mentioned before, but not everybody knows about it I guess. (Plus I really just wanted a reason to post about my goalie scoring a goal lol.) http://www.nhl94online.com/html/box_score.php?gameid=15482 See, it puts his goal as a goal against for him. Voc pointed out that he wasn't one of the 3 stars and it's ironic because it was probably his goal that kept him off, according to the stats anyway haha.
  15. I'd like to apologize to the community for opening up this can of worms lol. Trudat has good points about online... but at the end of the day for me they are all outweighed because playing online is still a fun experience for me. I think sometimes we can all take things too seriously. I try not to. That's probably why I like playing guys like hokkeefan (sorry buddy lol) even with his antics (not like he's the only one, he's just the funniest). I don't mind a little lag and I like smashing guys into the boards after the whistle. Sometimes I don't feel like playing because I'm tried or busy but I do it anyways because I want to be in the league because it's fun. At the end of the day, we're all playing this 20+ year old hockey video game that we make leagues for and keep stats for playing online against strangers... seriously, if you aren't doing that for fun then what the hell are you doing it for? If the lag and hassles outweigh playing then trudatman is right, you shouldn't play online. And to him it doesn't, which we should all just say "OK" and not get all bent out of shape. I mean sure, I think he should try it too, but it's his life and maybe if we don't try to force him to play online then he won't try to force everyone to think SNES is so superior to Genesis
  16. I'd buy a Hali/SNESOT conspiracy theory... but it would have been a backdoor deal behind Chaos' back. ...trudatman wouldn't have a say (or even care) in classic or any other league because he won't man up and join a league
  17. That's a pretty sensitive subject around here. http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/1504-what-a-sad-day-when-nhl95-came-out/ http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/11596-amazing-discovery-nhl-95-is-actually-a-great-game/
  18. You guys could always learn to play a new retro hockey video game called NHL 94 SNES version. Some even say it's a more polished game with better features than NHL 94 on Genesis. I know that idea might sound crazy, but you may even end up liking it! ...but in all seriousness, SNES really needs classic because no other leagues are going on. So that's great to hear about snesot.com, Kashim
  19. Close enough. Cool idea tho. Maybe a 1on1 with free ranging goalies ROM would work so one player is always goalie and the other is the skater? Then I guess the only thing left to do after that would be a 0on0 goalies only ROM
  20. The original Toe Jam and Earl is not on there and the Panic on Funkatron was #10 or something. Sorry, the list is bunk, bud.
  21. Completely off this topic, but any idea when bidding will begin on new 94 buds (Potvin, Teemu etc) and free agent buds?
  22. My thoughts: 1. Penalties off, it made the league unique. I will say if you can figure out 1 minute penalties then that might be a decent compromise. Or even better, 1 minute penalties except for interference turned off because those penalties are bunk, bud. (oh, and if you are working on figuring out that stuff maybe somebody could figure out how to turn off that lame glitch where you get a penalty shot even tho penalties are turned off. Not sure if that's possible tho and I know nothing about it ) 2. I'd let trades be on for now, but you can only trade players you've got on contract. No signing a guy then trading him. That's too messy. 3. I don't know/care because I'm not dropping anybody. So whatever you decide is gravy bud.
