  1. the player card images are tabled in the mapping thread. if you go to a team's list in the hex code you will see that they have six unique portraits and then they have fifteen or so generic ones that use the same two or three over and over. it's pretty easy to understand. you'll have unique ones for each starter and zero, one or two generic goalie pictures on each team. the rest or the skaters are the same few over and over again. if you are just replacing Moginly with a generic one, it's pretty easy. that explanation and the chart in the mapping thread should get you there. I'd be willing to do this work for you if you are having trouble getting rid of old players for a new ROM.
  2. THIS IS A DISCUSSION/UPDATE TOPIC -- IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A ROM, BACK OUT OR CLICK MY SIGNATURE well, the next update is generally the easiest major one, as I'll leave everybody's ratings alone and just work on newcomers and set lines. it should be done in the first month or so of the next season. here's the thing, though: we should take this time to make this thing cool(er). I really need hacking partners. this project needs some innovation. it's the only "updated rosters" hack for the SNES that has had any constance, but it lack some punch, some newness, some polishing. what might partners do? -ASM-type hacking - player physics, fatigue and rest rates, clock speed, adding more selectable options when changing lines, having a time clock with real speed instead of the fast ticking, having a flashing popup after goals and in last two minutes instead of the constant scoreboard overlay, the real stuff -pointer work - roster expansion, team number additions, ice graphics updates, more player tile edits, the cool stuff -alternate versions - two-on-two releases, multiplayer versions with big glaring icons, the popular stuff -betatesting - reviewing, fact checking, bug hunting, the important stuff -sounds - write new tunes, change whistles and horns, adjust grunts and collision noises, the flourishes -stuff - match handednesses and player cards, remove uniform colors from stopping snowspray, fixing West Stars slot in playoffs bracket displays, getting goalies freed to roam further, space addition between initial and name in popup and lists, removal of logos and copyrights, the other stuff if you can help me make this thing better, please volunteer your services. if the Ninety Flow ROMs can help you develop your skills/projects, please use them in any way that you see fit, short of pulling a profit. I'm going to keep doing what I do, but it's really not enough. the SNES crew deserves a better hack. they deserve innovations and improvements. they deserve a team of dedicated enthusiasts willing to work together. I could even be willing to pay for services mentioned above. can you help? do you know somebody who can? take some action. don't worry that it won't go anywhere, because I'm a motivated coordinator for such a project and I'm almost definitely going to keep doing this thing anyway. thanks for reading this. questions, comments and critiques are always welcomed. please respond in whatever way you see fit.
  3. that is excellent. I'm excited. I can't wait to see a bunch of blank pucks in the intro!
  4. the organ tunes are pretty easy to spot in the hex editor, I think, but I've never messed with them to test them. a pattern of many large sections of code that look similar and have identifiable intro values.... rather than link to new developments, please continue to copy into this thread -- and keep updated -- any and all charts, rants, data that spell the larger book on our preferred game; this thread is meant to have all of the information a SNES hacker can collect from others to understand and/or build their own NHL '94. you seem to get a lot of this better than I do, so please help keep this thread well edited. rewrite, clarify, copy... keep bringing in content and get your first-line position secured. we are a lot closer to a map of this sucker than we were three years ago. you look to be the dude about to make the next set declarations. it had been well over a year that this thread was stagnant.
  5. well, I had the time to peek. it also seems like the stuff after this section that holds a similar format has code for team menu logo/banner/text colors. different teams can have different menu text colors and the changes I made seemed to be controlled by the visiting team. I'll keep poking about.
  6. I'm probably not going to play around with this until this weekend, but I have a few ideas based on which teams use which values. if you have any screenshots, I'd love to peep them. corresponding hex edits transcribed wouldn't hurt. it's nice to have somebody doing stuff. we need more members like you. I am beyond appreciative.
  7. bump. more and more subsections are called "general discussion."
  8. some yahoo thing one would need an account to see? then I'll guess: hits for.
  9. while I understand your point about leads and being "in the gametm" and all that, I have to disagree about the domination aspect. it was almost like a bored cat playing with a mouse for a while, lettting it bite ears and whatnot, before killing it. here's hoping we have Bruin versus Rangers next postseason.
  10. so, Kreider, center ice logos and... do I have any errors in the LAK roster?
  11. I was about to ask about having no logos. this is good stuff. you should keep at it!
  12. how did you come about this? can you use the method of this discovery to come up with more innovations?
  13. this is exactly how I plan to use your findings. thank you VERY very VERY very VERY very VERY very VERY very much.
  14. he's not going to be making many saves like that!
  15. great thread. quoted the parts I very much agreed with. pass shot haters should play more SNES, which is much more of a simulation and less of a "NBA Jam" type of game.
  16. as with other major sports leagues, the fix may have been in. there were too many bad calls in this season's playoffs to dismiss the idea that the refs were David Sterned into making calls in favor of selected teams. the rewarding of embelleshment is pathetic and the zebras were playing along like it was scripted.
  17. I never did add Chrissy Kreider back in. lame. well, the next update is the easiest major one, as I'll leave everybody's ratings alone and just work on newcomers and set lines. it should be done in the first month or so of the next season. here's the thing, though: I really need a hacking partner. this project needs some innovation. it's the only "updated rosters" hack for the SNES that has had any constance, but it lack some punch, some newness, some polishing. what might partners do? -ASM hacking - player physics, clock speed, the real stuff -pointer work - roster expansion, ice graphics updates, more player tile edits, the cool stuff -alternate versions - two-on-two releases, multiplayer versions with big glaring icons, the popular stuff -betatesting - reviewing, fact checking, bug hunting, the importants stuff I'm going to keep doing what I do, but it's really not enough. the SNES crew deserves a better hack. they deserve innovations and improvements. they deserve a team of dedicated enthusiasts willing to work together.
