  1. Gõõõõõõõõõõõõõõõõõõõõõõõõõõõõõõl !!!!!!!!

    Only one day left....It has come down to a battle between addisonbr and Grayto. If my calculations are correct...everyone else is eliminated. The Portugal vs Ghana will decide it all!

  2. Hey there dcicon, which AIM are you sending messages to? I don't seem to be getting them. My id is addisonbr on AIM - I'm generally logged on all day during the day from work, although I can't play from the office (but could communicate about times). I am not by default logged on in the evenings but could be if I knew you were available. Let me know what nights work for you, or the weekend. I'm around tonight (Tuesday) but not Wednesday or Thursday. Around again Friday. And in and out over the weekend, early-ish in the morning or later in the evening better for me (middle of the day tends to be family stuffs).

  3. Gens D has been great in terms of the amount of noobs we've seen stickin around & playin out the season. The 20 game format is a big factor in that i'm sure. Hopefully we've now got the next batch of regular commited, enthisiastic players there.

    20 game leagues a big succes for sure. Congrats to the mods

    Agreement!

  4. Is there a place on the site that has IM names that go along with coach names? I checked the Registration / Waiting List page but it looks like it's been cleared out. And the list of Online players (http://www.nhl94online.com/html/online-players.php?lgtype=gens) looks like it hasn't been updated yet.

    I'm not in a hurry or anything if it's not ready yet - just didn't know if it was hiding some place I hadn't thought to look.

  5. Huge thanks to chaos for walking me through what seemed like a pretty complicated router / port forwarding / etc. process to get a couple of test games in. Ready to go!

    It's been a while, so long that I think I should probably try to get a test game to make sure I've got the right settings and everything... if you're interested in helping me out give me a ping and I'll try to get set up. Thanks!

  6. That is *exactly* what the guy at the event told me when I bitched about it. Word for word, including "buddies" and "couch". I was like, come on man, all of my "buddies" live hundreds and thousands of miles away. I moved to New York, got married, have kids... you think me and my "buddies" ask our moms if we can hang out at each others' houses for a few hours? Who makes a game in 2013 without online play?

    And the game play is poop by the way. Slapping NHL94 intro music at the beginning of a crappy hockey game doesn't make it NHL94 mode. I'm an idiot for even entertaining the idea that this wouldn't suck.

    Sorry I missed kingraph, apparently only by a few minutes. If he'd been there maybe I could have gotten on his shoulders and punched the producer in the jaw.

    from the buds at joystiq...

    When asked why this mode wasn't online-compatible, an EA representative
    told Joystiq it was to recreate the social experience of playing
    together with buddies on the same couch – like in the old games.

  7. I'm not too crazy that Mike Tyson's was #3, simply because it was a 1 player game and somewhat limited in it's longevity. Diminishing returns after 100 plays. '94 and Tecmo (and all other vs. sports games) continue to be interesting after thousands of games.

    I think this is pretty valid... I have very fond memories of Punch Out, but you're right. I'd have been a little disappointed not to see it on the list at all, but I #3 is high.

  8. #2 all-time... Not bad, even if it's off by one from the truth:

    2. NHL 94

    Systems: Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo

    Year Released: 1993

    Superstar Status: The introduction of one-timers has forever changed hockey video games, not to mention classic moments old-school gamers can't wipe from their memories like that random dude in the stands who would pound on the glass. The demand to play this game is still so great, EA Sports even included it as an extra in "NHL 06."

    And don't forget, for the time, "NHL '94's" graphics were amazing, right down to the shimmering ice. Players celebrated after goals, off-target slap shots shattered the glass, and you could even play four players at once, making this one of the best party games of its generation.

    "This was the first hockey game ever that had both the NHL and the NHLPA license, resulting in the first time that hockey fans could truly replicate the sport that they love using both the team uniforms and the players," says "NHL 13" producer, Sean Ramjagsingh. "The great thing about this game was that you truly felt like you were in control of the action on the ice. As many fans over the years have said, this was the first time in a hockey game that you could do what you want, when you wanted to do it."

    Dev Talk: Ramjagsingh says, "For me, 'NHL 94' represented bragging rights and maybe more importantly, the honor of watching my roommate do the chores around our university dorm. It was the high stakes game of choice for deciding who did the dishes, vacuumed and who would have to clean the toilet. With stakes that high, you could imagine how heated the games became."

  9. Got this today - I've spoke with Mike and he assures me that the NHL series will be represented. For those who aren't familiar, Xband was the original way to play NHL '94 over a network... It was a modem that plugged into the cartridge slot in a Genesis, the game plugged into the modem, and then it would match you up with someone else who wanted to play the same game. It was pretty cool.

    Hi Former Xbanders,

    I just wanted to give you a heads up that we'll be holding a live demo of the new Xband 3 client this Saturday at 8 PM Eastern / 7 PM Central. Tommy and the guys will be showing the client off on Stickam, and they'll be taking questions through a live Q & A afterwards. Xband 3 will be completed for PC first, and homebrew software for the Wii will be finished at a later time. Xmail, Stats, Xband News... all of the best parts of the original Xband will be present along with a lot more. Hope you can make it!

    Date = Saturday November 26th

    Time = 8 PM Eastern / 7 PM Central / 5 PM Pacific
