  1. Would love to get these in before the deadline on the 7th. I'd much rather play the games than take the forfeits, so please get in touch if we can knock these out in the next couple of days!
  2. I've been tinkering around with a modified version of GENS that allows recording games in .AVI format, that clockwise pointed me to: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=316 But sadly, it doesn't work during NetPlay. Does anyone here know of any versions that have attempted this? Is it worth trying to get something that allows recording games during NetPlay, without killing us with lag or breaking in other ways?
  3. I'm no expert on SNES play, but from the videos I've seen on YouTube passing actually seems to be a useful part of the offense in SNES. It's way trickier in Genesis... Passes getting intercepted is one thing, passes routinely ticking off the back of a skate and creating breakaways for 3-on-5 shorthanded opponents is borderline infuriating. Grr.
  4. Chicago Sports Review published a write-your-own-Bill-Simmons-column page, and if you follow through with it you'll find a reference to NHL 93 / NHL 94 buried in the result: http://www.chisport.com/sportsguy.html
  5. Appreciate the props, but I think we should give credit where credit is due... To Mark Lesser and Doug Wike for making Roenick and Belfour absolutely riDICulous...
  6. Would love to get these games in this week. Should be available on IM all week for scheduling, with availability to play in the evenings. Thanks.
  7. Wow, five straight 1-goal victories this morning by the Sabres (three in OT)... Nice work Rocco
  8. Chicago here. Would love to get a game done tonight. I'll be online tonight from about 8pm EST.
  9. As this league tries to build itself into an ongoing concern, I don't think it's a disaster to include more teams in the playoffs. From what I've seen in some of the forum posts, it can be hard even with the current format to get people to play their games in a timely fashion. The more people are essentially eliminated from playoff contention, the harder it may be to get them to complete their schedule. My fantasy football league used to include 60-80% of the teams in the playoffs to keep everyone interested, and as the league matured and we developed a stable, dedicated membership, we cut that number back to about 40% and it worked pretty well. A smaller playoffs would be good in the long run, I just don't think it's a disaster to keep it at 16 teams for now.
  10. That usually just makes me sheepish
  11. Are timeouts good for anything besides comic relief? I had the wrong line in and called timeout before the puck was dropped and fixed it, but the game didn't put the right line in until the next stoppage in play. Does it quiet the crowd down? For that matter, does crowd noise do anything, like add points to the home team's abilities?
  12. Not sure it's completely pointless. Some people, myself included, prefer to delay their second half games until the second half. If more games were scheduled for the first "semester" vs. the second "semester" (when people are more likely to lose interest and be slower to play), it might speed things up on average.
  13. Just to reiterate, I've got some T-shirt ideas I'd like to order but no patience to put them together. Looks like they cost about $20 on zazzle.com - I'll pay $30 apiece for them if someone here wants to help me design them. Get in touch if you're interested...
  14. I think they actually nudge the player ratings up or down a point or two if the player is "hot" or "cold" - you can see the numbers as you cycle through the players. But that's not enough for me to make substitutions.
  15. The first thing is amazingly wrong. The second thing... I like looking at it out of habit but I've never once made a substitution based on that screen so I'm not going to cry if you skip it.
  16. I have a few shirts in mind I'd really like but don't have the patience and/or skill to rip the graphics... If anyone is interested in making a few bucks, get in touch with me - I'll describe what I want and we'll figure out if it can be done.
  17. I have Chicago and should be around a lot in the evenings (EST) for the next four days for sure.
  18. I was playing 2-on-2 with my college roommates two years ago when we had a mini-reunion. My teammate and I were up two goals with 20 seconds to go and lost by one IN REGULATION. I didn't speak for about an hour. You could have cooked an egg on my forehead. The four of us played cumulatively at least 6,000 games while in school and for a couple of years after when most of us still lived nearby. We didn't suck. Well, generally speaking we didn't suck. I certainly sucked for about 20 seconds.
