  1. If will allow, i would like to state a little prophetic which would like to see in hack NHL ' 98. And hope it hack will be -).

    - Opportunity to disconnect two line pass and icing.

    - 7 minutes - a time, here without questions.

    - Speed slow by default.

    - Emblems of home teams on ice turned by the person to lateral tribunes, as for example in nhl ' 95 for PC. If it really to make.

    - It would be healthy, if after neutral result during basic time of a match, there was an overtime, and further bullits.

And there are some words about the version of game for SNES. There there is a cool opportunity to play practice with any quantity of players, for example 5 on 1. On version Genessis it will be great.

I am guessing English is not your first language, which is fine, it's fine. I don't quite understand everyhting you are saying bit I'll try to figure it out.

NHL 98 hack completion is not really close right now. 7 minutes can be done, I believe icing can be turned off but two lines is not possible right now. Play nhl 96 - no 2 line passes. You can pick the speed yourself. Not sure what a 'lateral tribune' is or 'further bullits'. Also I can't add features that aren't already in the game, sorry.

  2. Holy crap! I had no idea you were catching so much flak over your roms, Mack! They're probably just a bunch of snot-nosed whining pissants that live in their parents' basements (or they're snot-nosed brats who still haven't hit puberty yet).

I finished reading some "Hacking 101" thread earlier on these forums... I had no clue what the heck I was reading. <_<

I would gladly make my own rom and distribute it to the fans; unfortunately, I do not have the computer skills to do so. Reading a bunch of lines of code... sheesh! I always assumed it would be as easy as reading "Trent Hunter: Checking: __ (insert rating)". But from the sounds of it, it isn't even remotely that simple.

I love your most recent NHL '94 2007 rom; however, I'd edit some of the ratings if I could. But then again, when I think about it... I'm not so sure that people would be thrilled if I gave Chad Kilger and Andre Roy life-like shot power ratings. Those two can really rip a puck. If I were to give Kilger and Roy the shot power ratings they deserve, then too many goals would be scored by those two players in these old-fashioned NHL video games. If I were able to edit ratings, I'd have mixed feelings about giving some players life-like shot power ratings; however, I'd have no qualms about giving them the checking ratings they deserve (players such as Trent Hunter, Sean Hill, Mike Komisarek, Vitaly Vishnevski, Steve Begin, Chad Kilger, etc. would have very high checking ratings in my opinion).

I haven't looked at all of the teams yet in the updated rom that I downloaded from your site the other day. But I have looked at the ratings of some of the players when I played a playoff with the Pittsburgh Penguins. I was pleased to see what I believed to be much-improved ratings for the players in this particular rom. Personally, I think you did a fantastic job (from what I've observed thus far).

Hacking roms... you DON'T have to do that for any of us. But the fact that you do it is greatly appreciated (by myself and others in the NHL '94 gaming community)! Whether or not you continue to hack roms is entirely up to you; however, try to brush off the disrespectful comments made about you by a bunch of whining pissants.

It's amazing just how disrespectful people can be in society today! I'm only 25 years old; however, I find that there are very few people my own age that I can relate to. Too many people my age (and younger) are nothing more than disrespectful punks with no maturity whatsoever. Sometimes I feel like I was born in the wrong generation.

Mack, if you do continue to hack roms at all... feel free to PM me if you ever have any questions about player ratings or factual information regarding those players (jersey numbers, what hand they shoot with, etc). I would glad to assist you in any way I possibly can.

Thanks for the encouraging words. This topic is long gone and over.

I decided not to let a certain pizza clown ruin my efforts or fun of hacking.

I doubt I'll ever please everyone with every players ratings. Everyone has their opinion and some might know some teams better than I do. My goal is to make some teams better than others, just like in the original.

  3. My suggestion for the New York teams would be to take the route the original NHL 94 game did, and that's leave them as "New York" and let the colors of their banners tell the difference. I hardly think anyone agonized over the fact that the "Other Scores" menu doesn't say which one it is. Besides, if you're playing in playoff mode, it'll show the banner in the tree.

I'll keep that in mind next time I am hacking. Will make the changes.

  4. Hey Mack, something I've noticed (and it's something I've also noticed with clockwise's NHL 91) with the Flyers opening organ song. The one they originally have in NHL 94 is the correct one, but the one they have in your rom is better suited for a team like Minnesota. (clockwise actually has it with the Buffalo and Winnipeg song in his 91 edit). Is there a way for you to change it back to the original? I'd really appreciate it.

And one more thing: You have the New York teams listed as "New York R." and "New York I.", but their names are thus represented as "New York R. Rangers" and "New York I. Islanders" in the hot/cold listings with Ron McLean. Just wanted to point that out if you didn't notice.

I'm eagerly awaiting your next edit (especially with Briere over here in Philly!). I know it'll be just as good as the previous ones.

The songs have changed because the order and amount of teams have changed and expanded. I am not sure how to correct this.

Anybody know how to give a certain team a certain song?

I didn't realize about the hot / cold list. I was trying to distinguish between the two NY teams. Any ideas?

Briere won't have to change teams in my hacks for 8 years! Hurray. (if he lasts the whole 8 years there)

  5. Sabre Dance, I don't know what a "two line pass" is.

Drezz, as far as I know, it is probably possible to bypass some or all of the intro screens without any RAM loading problems. I don't have much experience in that area, so I can't help much.

Tony, a 2 line pass is a pass that goes from inside your end (your end is from behind the net to the first blue line) and crosses the blue line and the center ice line to a teammate. The NHL has since eliminated this rule so passes can go from anywhere in your end all the wa up to the frthest blue line.

hockey101_2line.gif This is how the rule is now. Eliminates the center ice line as being an offside line.

  6. Great work Tony. Works like a charm. Thanks for figuring it out.

And now - its time to get to work. :(

I wonder if theres any hope of getting these teams into a season mode. We'd have to alter the schedule to include them... so I don't know if its totally possible.

Your status with me would go even higher (if that's possible) if you figured that one out Drezz.

  7. I personally love it... and my 2 1/2 year old loves it too. He loves the goalies. I'm afraid he'll be one.

Most comments have been positive and I appreciate it. Negativity I think should just be handled in the right fashion. I'm always open to fixing things for people too if they ask nicely. I want as many people as possible to play it and really enjoy themselves.
