  1. right on...crack open a few Keith's and celebrate!
  2. Regardless as to what the admins decide I, like you, will play my entire season even if there's no play-offs for me. I hardly think this idea is 'confusing'. Your top 8 or (top 40%) still play in what you would consider the real playoffs. the other 12 still get a chance to play in playoff series and have some fun....I don't see what is 'unnecessary' about that.
  3. Based on what i've seen...allowing guys to sign up for whatever league they want might be a mistake...I think deer, kid, rudy, schwartz, JotaC should throw a list together of guys they want in the strongest league (they'd have the best idea of the skill level and commitment of coaches for SNES)....then ask those players if they want in....if there's any spots left....then go to pokerchamp's suggestion...any new players interested should have to play those guys...and if 'the committee' doesn't think any of them are strong enough to compete then have a league smaller then 20 teams....remaining players will be put in the other league.
  4. I'm opposed to the idea of only 40% of teams making the playoffs. I think that once guys realize when they are mathemtaically eliminated they will be less inclined to play their games. Yes it SHOULD be a challenge to make the play-offs and that is why ALL teams should make it.....'HUH?' you say. What I mean is....in a 20 teams league, I would like to see all teams make it....except divide it into groups....and you can do it however you like....perhaps what might make the most sense is having the top 8 teams(or top four in each conference) make the 'A' playoffs....the next 8 play in the 'B' playoffs and the bottom four play in the 'C'. So you have an 'A'(overall) champion, a 'B' champion and a 'C' champion for each league. There will still be the challenge of making the top 8 to play in the 'A' league playoffs. Guys will be more likely to play their games since they have nothing to lose. And for those guys that get beat up and finish near the bottom will still have something to look forward to. I take for example a guy like 'scott stevens = god'. It's easy to tell he loves playing this game and he loses by a lot sometimes but never gives up. He figures he's not gonna make the playoffs in the GENS draft league(im not sure if he did or not) and what does he do?....he sets up a tournament for teams that didn't make it. Nobody likes to miss the playoffs...but everyone loves playing in a best of 7...because they like the intensity and they have fun.....and isn't what this site is about?...keeping guys interested in playing...attracting new players...but overall whether it be great skill or weak skill, everyone enjoys playing. Don't forget to 'vote for rory' next year.
  5. hey there!..and welcome! one of my bosses was a goalie drafted by the isles back in '85... in training camp....he said mike bossy took a shot that felt like it went through his gear because it had hurt so bad....he also said that it was the only save he made on bossy in camp.
  6. I was playing against hokkeefan in SNES winter league...the game was insane...back and forth....it was tied 3-3 and mcsorely got a breakaway with barely anytime left and got tripped...the clock read 0:00...and a penalty shot was awarded! I had a chance to win it on penalty shot on the last play of the game. The only thing was i didnt get to take the shot...lol...it showed mcsorely at centre ice for about 2 seconds then...switched to the OT face off..lol....luckily i managed to win in ot.
  7. tough break pimp...i know what you are talking about though...its a rare occurance...I've had the goalie do that to me before as well.
  8. LOL...nice work!....the 'no respect' one is my fav.
  9. those look cool..nice work!...congrats to hokkeefan as well..cheers
  10. It's been a while since ive played the genesis version....but if my memory serves me correct the manual goalies are way different between SNES and genesis. What im saying is, I've won games that i didn't deserve to win simply based on my play with manual goalie...and had guys steal games against me based on their play with the manual goalie. That is what i like about it NHL94 compared to some of the other games I've played. Of course im only refering to the SNES version.
  11. My bad.....I meant to add 'in the series that he had won'
  12. to add to those comments...this guy faced elimination 12 times the playoffs(both gens and snes...13 if you count the forfeit game 7 win)....but 12 times he faced elmination..and 12 times he won...I don't know if that will ever come close to be beaten....
  13. It's the only hockey game i ever played where you can win a game simply based on your use of manual goalie. if they make a new game with nhl94 gameplay(SNES version of course) with the new graphics and players..id buy that.
  14. LOL....nice....a superbowl commercial in the making....
  15. hopefully paul will be able finish this series with ya...it would suck to play to a 7th game and then have a FF handed down to decide the winner.
  16. Hey there, welcome!...If you ever decide to play the SNES version...hit me up for some games...my aim is hfx2006
  17. Hey welcome! Are you playing on GENS or SNES?
  18. **deleted** Please refer to the Forum Rules. -Mod
  19. Yeah, I undersand what you mean. I think it comes down to what you feel is more important. If winning is more important, then stick to the system you know and keep playing at it to continue to get better. But if you're the type that doesnt care wether you win or lose and you just enjoy playing a lot of games (a la hokkeefan), then playing on both systems is your way to go.
  20. Augie had requested to start up another league with some different rules and I offered to help him with it...we're just finalizing some details....I'll post it soon.
  21. well..the topic was more for fun then anything but to answer your question..the only one I'm aware of is hokkeefan...although The Deer has recently played a few exhibition games for the GENS....
  22. As far as I'm aware, Evan and company do not get paid to run this site. I'm interested to see how much interest there is of anyone who'd be willing to give donations towards this site do to the hard work they put into it. I know they(admins) would never bring it up but I think their should be paypal set up on this site where we can leave a donation should we choose to do so...whatever amount 5, 10, 20 or more. thoughts?
  23. Not a bad idea...I'm sure there would be a few who'd be up for that.
  24. wouldn't that be considered OT?
  25. There are GENS players and SNES players...any ideas for a nickname for someone who plays both?
