The series between SNES B StLouis & Dallas appears to be almost over...
I think it is over...hokkefan came back from 3-0 and won the series...they just havent confirmed scores on the site yet.
-
how will we log games / keep track of standings? do you have anything in mind for that? it would be sick to get an automatic stat tracker like the gens league will have... maybe that's a bit too wishful at the moment.
Hey Auggie,
I'm not interested in looking after a stat tracker but I certainly have no objection to a stat tracker if someone else wanted to look after it.
I don't have any experience in web design so I'm just building a basic one on a free site which will be simple with standings and schedule. guys can confirm scores via email or by posting on the forum which ill provide on that site (I don't wanna have the admins annoyed with clogging up this site with scores). It is primative solution but I'm open to suggestions for sure.
Cheers!

Good work. I look forward to a similar beating.
Pimp, you trying to work in some reverse psychology here?

Associated Press
The Detroit Red Wings made quick work of the Calgary Flames averging better then 6 goals difference per game to sweep the series. Congrats on the win....and kudos to Lethal for showing class and not giving up(especially after the first two game scores).
Detroit will wait to see their next round opponent which could be either St.Louis, Vancouver or Edmonton.

it ends with Deer, Caper, etc.........
I'm just saying let in all the players who were committed in the
previous season.
Its really not alot in SNES A
I definately think you should cap the teams at 16, with only 8
making the playoffs
But I'm sure people will drop out so the bubble guys will get in.
Especially if your combining players from A & B, some guys will
get smoked and quit probably
You're absolutely right when you say that guys will get smoked. It's bound to happen. which is why I'm still going to have a 'B' play offs(bottom 8 teams) because I think it is more likely guys will quit if they are already eliminated from playoff contention. This is a fun league and I think everyone should have a chance to try a playoff run either in the 'A' or 'B' playoffs...I'll leave the play offs races for Evan's spring league. Keep in mind this league has nothing to do with this website, this is something I organized myself.

a few things
Is there going to be an SNES A & B winter league
I think everyone in A that was committed last year should
be first on the list for the next season.
So EnergyMike should definately hold a spot
2nd, In terms of picking teams can you just post the
draft order when its made & we can pick teams in a thread 1-16
I know I hold a low pick & really don't want to bother picking all
the teams when so many will be gone.
I'm only organizing the one league...it has guys from both 'A' and 'B' as well as a couple rookies (me being one of them). If someone wants to organize a second league then that's fine too(id even sign up). As for Mike, I have no problem with allowing mike to play in the league as from what ive gathered he seems very committed (assuming no one else has an objection). My concern is if I let mike in...what happens to the next person who comes along...how do I handle it? do i let them in? and where does it end? Thoughts?
-
Count me in if anyone drops out.
energymike4
for sure...thanks
-
hehe if you want to damage somebodys morale without being offensive, type in "PAT LLLLLAAALALALALALALALALAAAAAFONTAINE!!!!" every time he scores.
LOL...when i used buffalo play aginst my buddies...I used always say 'MAY DAY! MAY DAY! MAY DAY!" every time i scored..regardless who scored it.
-
everyone should take notes!!
This is how u lose a series. No whining or complaining!
I'll echo this reply!
It's too bad two of the best players had to meet in the first round.
-
congrats on the upset!
-
I didn't mean for the A and B scores to be added, but to be averaged. Probably better than just taking my high score, which inflates my worth. So if I'm following your methodology correctly, my score would be the average of 11.10 and 5.40, for a new ranking of 8.25, which drops me from 15th to 19th. Just my suggestion though, these are your rankings and I'm not saying you're doing anything wrong.
That's a good idea...since the rankings are meant for coaches and not their individual teams...Good point...I'll make adjustments for those others that fall under the same category once the first round is complete.
-
For coaches awards at the end of the year....perhaps a new one called the 'Shawn Michaels award' aka the 'heart break kid award'. hokkeefan has eliminated 3 teams in the first round...coming back from 3-2, 3-1 and 3-0 in those series...plus winning two of those in game 7 OT's...No lead is safe playing hokkefan...He faced elimination 9 TIMES and won em all!!Congrats on your wins and for being extremely resilient....nerves of steel!

I've reworked my team preference. Since I was out early, I've been playing exhibition games with different teams. I've found one I like.
1. New York......Islanders (I liked the way they handled. I wish they had more to work with when there are penalties or injuries, but what can you do)
2. Pittsburgh
3. Montreal
4. Detroit
5. NYR
6. Edmonton
7. Chicago
8. Toronto
I hope I don't need more. Hopefully my record allows me a first pick, plus I don't see anyone going after the Islanders anytime soon.
thanks! the isles have a great line..with turgeon, thomas and hogue(or 'Benoit Ug' as my buddies and i referred to him).
speaking of...i list my top 8
1. Van City
2. Hockeytown
3. Chi-town
4. Les Nordiques de la belle province
5. beantown
6. the pens
7. Long Island
8. Calgary Flaming Moes

94kid, thepimpimp, mcmarkis and pokrchamp....
can you provide me with a team 'preference' list?
thanks!

This is what I had in mind guys!!!!!
All the new players & the ones that missed the playoffs do a random draw for picks 1-10
All the remaining players draw 11-20 or something like that.
I know the #'s don't exactly work.
I'd like to see less teams make the playoffs every year
Say 20 teams in the league,
I'd like to see maybe 12 make the playoffs
then for the next season all the newbies & the ones that missed the playoffs draft
1-8 & the rest draft 9 - 20 or something like that
As I said before I think all the league mainstays like Rudy, Caper, etc etc
vote on how the teams are picked, how many make the playoffs & other league changes
I realize that my idea's aren't necessarly the best one's ( even though I'd like to think so!!)
Pokrchamp, thanks for your suggestions! I think im gonna stick to 16 teams and having an 'A" and 'B' playoffs. I just wanna keep a core group of guys that I'm confident will play the full season. Having said that, I think I'm gonna combine some suggestions from yourself and BsDaemon for the draft. I'll use the power rankings to determine where coaches rank for the draft. But for the first 8 teams...it will be a weighted lottery...the remaining teams will just be seeded accordingly to their power rankings (highest power ranking team will have last selection). I think this is the fairest way.
I think I read in another topic that the admins will compose a poll/topic(probably after current playoffs) to discuss the leagues and get feedback to what can be improved for the spring season. This will be a great time give your suggestions etc.
-
makes sense....although someone voted against...I wonder what their arguement is?
-
wow st.louis took a 3-0 series lead and looked unstoppable then dallas somehow won 4 straight to win in ot in 7th game
congrats hokkeefan....for pulling off an improbable comeback! That's two game 7 OT victories for you!
-
True, but considering lots of people have boston as a favorite to win the cup, we aren't consideirng that an option. Prove me wrong philly.
Philly's up 2-1 now.....
-
I 95% agree. I think it should be BASED ON our power rankings, however i think it would be cool if it was a weighted lottery based on those rankings. So while its very very unlikely for the strong players to get strong teams, its POSSIBLE. I like the idea of a little bit of chance mixed in
But... it's his league and he can do it however he wishes.
(sorry BSdaemon...I missed this post..my bad)...I'll see if i can devise a weighted lottery system that will best represent the power rankings....thanks for the idea!
-
I think we need to pick teams different.
Personally I love competition & would rather see the weak players
draw teams 1st.
No Rudy with Det, Caper with Pitts, etc....
I'm not complaining I just want to give the weaker players a chance
I'll even take the last pick
I'm certainly fine with this idea...I'll base in on power rankings for the draft...the only thing is...i havent played in the league..so i will have no power ranking points....im not sure if i should be first in the draft....but either way....sounds good
-
uh stupid....
what is stupid?
-
Detroit
Calgary
Montreal
Boston
Buffalo
St Louis

thanks again to all coaches who have signed up.....please take the time to edit one of your posts and provide me with a bigger list of teams you want(preferably your top 15)....and those that haven't posted a 'team preference list' can do so at any time.
