  1. I appreciate the work chaos, raph, and Hali did in this season and all other seasons before hand.

I understand your dilemma because Id be pissed to lose a division because I didn't play a guy who played 9 games in 5 weeks and couldn't sync up with the replacement on short notice. I appreciate the fact I got a couple extra days and will keep in mind that future seasons will be handled different.

These guys communicate with us, are transparent, and do their best to help everyone.

    Thank you good buds!

  2. It seems we have a few different threads attacking the same subject from different angels and through it all I side very much so with Brutus in terms of opinion.

We are lucky to have enough guys to fill out leagues at the moment. In the case of snes anyone who did sign up was admitted into the league. There was and is no wait list in the event that random people didn't play. If people don't take personal responsibility then there isn't a whole lot that can be done.

Shorter and faster leagues help but aren't an answer all in themselves. The last 92 league that coach ran didn't have the usual completion rate. Why? Because guys didn't take personal responsibility nor was there enough time to make up for a lost time slot.

There is a happy medium somewhere but we aren't gonna get it by brow beating slackers and making every league a 20 game sprint with 6 managers. In those leagues any amount of slackers more than 0 kills the league.

Again, it comes to personal responsibility. Brutus laid it out in another post where he squeezes game in despite a busy schedule. Without diving into detail, I'm also super busy AND I have to travel across town from where I live to get a connection I can play with. I live in a metro with well over 1 million people and it isn't a short drive. But I've made the time and played 74 out of 80 classic games before the original deadline. The games I missed were with carse who was hardly around and fenty who I have an 8 hour time difference with. I don't expect him to be up at 2-6 AM during the time I'm frequently on so it's no one's fault really.

If you want to play games you get them In regardless. If you don't, well the games sure as hell don't play themselves.

  3. I assumed there was an extension because chaos mentioned it in the group chat. Otherwise I would have played plabax Friday night to get the games in.

Its really tough to get games in on a holiday weekend too. I wouldn't say a whole week is needed but a couple extra days would be nice.

  4. I want TK to be forced to use ANA/OTT level at some point :grimace:

I'd do ANH/FLA all day every day to him, lol!!!

I'm not a big fan of the tier idea. It's too subjective and I think Raph did a post where we did a fairly bang up job as a group in picking even matchups. I tend to like our format as is.

I could be into the best of 3 idea that Seth proposed once we are into top 16 or maybe even perhaps top 8. I dont see much point in having it in the preliminary rounds because too many times coaches can be mismatched skill wise and its pointless to use the extra 10 minutes. Plus, it makes any sort of upset that much harder to pull off. Once things are deep into the tournament, I could see why we expand things a tiny bit.

  5. Snes:

    Gens:

I will be on tonight after 9 est and possibly tomorrow if I get enough guys setting up game times. If not I'm just going to watch the sharks game.

I can be around Friday evening anf Saturday during the day by appointment.

In other words if you know when you may be online please drop me a line here so I can make sure I clear the time and show up.

  6. You've never played me.. you've practiced against me. There's a difference.

I may have holes in my game, but until anyone comes close to beating me without bugs... I don't see them.

Always with excuses. This sounds like the scene in swingers:

Me: you gonna practice when im not here?

Plabax: (repeats question like a moron)

Me: Ok, we'll play some more. He likes to get scored on. Great Times!

  7. CB check = C check

I get body checked a lot more then most others and I check far less then most others. I still get my share of offensive production and victories almost regardless of team makeup.

Where Raph got me in our classic games this season was on transition. He got my defenders caught one way or another and just had breakaway after breakaway and i didnt do enough to adjust or get the manual GC working like i needed to in order to stem his transition. The CB wasn't any bigger of a factor then a C check.

The biggest thing that you can do plabber is admit you have holes in your game. Stop being arrogant about yourself, I've seen enough of your tape and played against you enough times to know this is a fact.

I had to admit the same thing to myself at some point and I made it a point to work on where I felt I was weak. Hell, we've all had to come to this realization and have worked to make ourselves better. You are no exception, you will need to put in work or you will continue to have this occur to you.

  8. I didn't read most of this topic but I think I get the gist that Tru wants his perception changed.

All I can say is change your actions and don't justify what you've done in the past.

Many people considered me to be an abrasive pain in the ass during my first run as a player. I think now that perception is mostly changed. I didn't ask for it or demand it, I just decided to change my approach and people gradually started thinking different.

It feels more genuine to other people if you just do something instead of saying you will do it and ask to be rewarded.

That's my two cents and I'm done here.

  9. Lots of great points here but if I may add one its the ability to play the meta game can make a B player an A player and a lower end A player a top tier A player.

what i mean by meta is that you gain the understanding of how another persons brain works and how to use it against them.

Often times, I like to create scoring chances where I'm either forking people (creating two possible chances at a goal simultaneously) or I have a single chance that I can convert in multiple ways (breakaways mainly). A lot of the time in these situations you dont necessarily have time to react, you just have to know how someone will react to a situation and take advantage of it. Some guys take away whats obvious, some guys take away whats cute, while others vary their tactics.

Where the real trick lies is in what happens when someone figures out what you want to do. How do you use that information against them? Depending on who I'm playing, I'll either just keep doing the same thing, change up constantly, or literally do nothing and have the other person just give me what I want for free.

You can have all the offensive/defensive systems, amazing reactions, great players, amd fantastic GC. But when someone can get in your head and always be a step ahead mentally, you can throw all that other stuff out the window because while you second guess what you want to do, their decision was made before the situation was presented and that red light is going off behind your goalie.
