  1. this series sounds like it has the making of a 7 game gem, any word on when it will get started back up?
  2. hey Dmitry, ive been talking to a few of the guys from the league and we're just kind of curious on what type of time table we are looking at in terms of having a playoff page up and running on the site. We understand that life happens and you may be pretty busy with a some things in your life, but we are just a curious bunch that are looking for some sort of time table.
  3. you dont have the proper emulator, you gotta get the save state gens and then youll be cool. most anyone has it and can send you the file.
  4. i personally tend to steer away from crease cutting in the purest sense of going to the goal line, doing a spin move and then reeling off a creast cutter. its just a personal choice i make. at times though if it is open and i happen to be in that area after looking for a one-timer that isnt there i will go for it. When talking about crease cutting from the face off dots up,its a little different,i dont see it as cheap,i just see it as getting into a better position for a slapper. again, its not really a big part of my game plan and i dont have a problem with people incorporating it as long as it isnt their only means of offense. i think a better question is the pass/shot, atleast crease cutting can be debated as an actual hockey tactic in real life, pass/shoot on the other hand is a chumps game since its not even hockey, its just taking advantage of a glitch in the game.
  5. In a back and forth series where Sharks forwards took turns lighting the lamp, the sharks escaped in 6 games as they dug themselves out of deficit after deficit. This reporter doesnt recall the details of the games as they were played at a blinding pace, but more details will follow once the box scores come out. Game 1: 5-1 SJ Game 2: 5-4 OT BOS Game 3: 6-4 SJ Game 4: 5-4 SJ Game 5: 9-7 BOS Game 6: 4-3 SJ A real up and down series that featured some hard hitting and some crazy goals. Boston put up one hell of a fight as Garnter asserted himself on the Sharks all throughout the series. Good match EA, you have no idea how fortunate i feel to get out of this one alive.
  6. i gave up san jose and thats my team, so im not too attatched to any team, even though i just acquired quebec im willing to let them go for pretty much anything. so if anyone wants quebec bad enough just let me know and ill probably let you have it.
  7. Best Overall Coach- Backhander (a most impressive season) Best Sportsmanship Coach- SSIG (a lot of guys deserve recognition for this trophy) Best One-timer coach- Matt Hurray (i know its coming and i still cant stop it) Best Deke Coach- Backhander (he's made me look like a fool many a times) Best Slapshot Coach- Backhander (slappers with courtnall is impressive) Best Defensive Coach- Stumpy (stifled me plenty of times) Best Offensive Coach- Backhander (seems only fitting doesnt it?) Most Improved Coach- KingsCupRun (the improvement is easy to see) Best Replacement Coach- HABS (lead a team that wasnt his to the playoffs in the west) Coach who stuck it out through the hard times- edisaurusrex (again, a few guys deserve this one) Best Goalie Control- Stumpy (impressive to say the least) Best Drafted Team- gr81 (all the teams have some weaknesses, but his strengths more than make up for them)
  8. I've never seen this done, so im gonna test the waters. I'm going to give out some individual trophies to the players i feel deserve them and those who have earned the trophies outright. Go ahead and post your own choices and perhaps we can have some awards given out to the leading vote getters at the end of the process. Hart Trophy(MVP)- Mike Gartner Lady Bing(Sportsmanship)- Pierre Turgeon Vezina(Top goalie)- Grant Fuhr Art Ross(Point leader)- Mario Lemieux Calder(Top Rookie)- Joe Juneau Norris(Top Defenseman)- Phil Housley Pearson(NHLPA MVP)- Steve Yzerman Adams(Top Coach)- Backhandfloater Selke(Top Defensive Forward)- Jeremy Roenick Jennings(Least Goals Allowed)- Ed Belfour/Grant Fuhr Richard(Top Goal Scorer)- Mario Lemieux Presidents(most team points)- Chicago
  9. here are my picks for the 1st and 2nd all-star teams of each conference. 1st team LW- Pavel Bure (run and gun style lead to a ton of goals) C- Mario Lemieux (league leader in points, goals, and shots) RW- Kirk Muller (99 goals on the most balanced team in the East) D- Steve Chiasson (point leader of the eastern defenseman) D- Petr Svoboda (bone crushing hitter and feathery soft touch on passing) G- Patrick Roy (leader in sv. percentage and goals against) 2nd team LW- Cliff Ronning (80 goals with Ronning is beyond impressive) C- Alexander Mogilny (more goals than passes attempted) RW- Mike Modano (triple digits in goals on a struggling team) D- Alexei Zhitnik (solid d and impressive o) D- Dave Ellett (2nd in goal scoring for defenseman) G- John Vanbiesbrouck (just a step behind Roy) Western Confernce 1st team LW- Mike Gartner (Nearly overtook Lemieux in goals and points) C- Steve Yzerman (led his team to the playoffs) RW- Sergei Fedorov (a distributor and a goal scorer) D- Phil Housely (a monster season, period.) D- Kevin Lowe (reliving the glory days of Edmonton) G- Tim Cheveldae (a most impressive season) 2nd team LW- Russ Courtnall (a slick skating goal scoring beast) C- Pierre Turgeon (led the league and assists, lady bing canidate) RW- Mark Recchi ( The most productive right winger in the league by far) D- Nick Lidstrom (an incredible rookie season) D- Don Sweeney (a force on both ends of the ice) G- Grant Fuhr (backbone of crushing St. Louis defense)
  10. Eastern confernce: First Round #3 New York vs. #6 Montreal On paper, this looks like a pretty big mismatch when looking at the goals statistics. Mario Lemieux scored 173 goals to lead the league in goal scoring, while Montreal only put up 178 goals as a team. Montreal must find a way to stop Lemieux while at the same time scoring enough goals to stay in the games. With the likes of Pat Lafontaine, Rod Brindamour and Cliff Ronning, it seems unlikely Montreal will find enough scoring in order to ourscore Lemieux. Rangers in 6 #4 Hartford vs. #5 Ottawa What we have on our hands here is of a show of Russian super talent in Pavel Bure of Ottawa and Alexander Mogilny of Hartford. Both players had amazing seasons for their teams and were able to lead the way to the playoffs. Ottaw's supporting cast has done a bit more this season with the likes of Valarei Kamensky at forward and 2 60+ point producers on the blueline in Steve Chiasson and Al Iafrate. Unless Mogilny puts up a super human effort, he is in tough for it by having to face a more balanced Ottawa team that looks poised to make some noise in the playoffs. Sens in 6 Eastern Semis #1 Pittsburgh vs. #5 Ottawa Pittsburgh earned there bye this season by being the most consistent team by far in the East, the Pens are led by the likes of Kirk Muller, Joe Juneau, and Benoit Hogue to provide a scary line of offensive and defensive prowress. Patrick Roy anchors the net in Pittsburgh and should be able to keep the dangerous Pavel Bure at bay with some timely saves, but dont underestimate Bure's ability to make this series much closer than one would think at first glance. Pens in 6 #2 Philadelphia vs. #3 New York Philly is coming off a late surge to earn themselves a bye, but they will face the highest scoring player in the league as a reward. Dont forget though that Philly has a powerful offense in their own right with the likes of Dino Ciccarelli and Petr Klima. Philly's ability to match speed and defensive prowress should be enough to overcome the machine that is Mario Lemieux in a high flying series. Flyers in 7 Eastern Final #1 Pittsburgh vs. #2 Philadelphia Pittsburgh will provide a much different foe than the ones Philly faces in the first round. Instead of a one man brigade, its a whole team coming down the ice. The Pens can match personnel with the Flyers and will use their one timers and superior offensive creativity to create the edge they need to make it to the Stanley Cup finals. Pens in 5 Western Conference #3 St. Louis vs. #6 Vancouver St. Louis comes in with one of the stingiest defenses in the league, but they are coming up agains the high flying Canucks who gave the Blues everything they could handle in the season matchups. Steve Yzerman led Vancouver with his amazing 198 point season and he seems to have all the answers for the Blues defense. The Blues will need Grant Fuhr to find his magic against the Canucks or Tomas Sandstrom will need to have the series of his life in order to keep up with the high flying team from the Pacific Northwest. Canucks in 6 #4 Boston vs. #5 San Jose Mike Gartner alone is not enough to take down the most balanced and high scoring team in the league. That is why Boston will need their x-factor to come up huge in this series, Wayne Gretzky. If Wayne Gretzky can dance around enough on offense to create more room for Gartner and play masterful defense with sound body checks, then Boston will have a huge advantage in this series. If Gretzky is unable to be a difference maker Gartner will have to put up big game after big game in order to find a way to overcome the Sharks. Bruins in 7 Western Semis #1 Chicago vs. #6 Vancouver Chicago boasts a potent offense and an incredible defense lead by Ed Belfour and Glen Wesley. Chicago will prove to be far too much for the undermatched Canucks. Steve Yzerman is a great player, but it will be too much to ask him to beat the top team in the league all by himself. Blackhawks in 5 #2 Los Angeles vs. #4 Boston The perfect counter for the Mike Gartner-Wayne Gretzky combo is the defensive minded Kings who are led by the ever amazing Jeremy Roenick. Roenick will exercise his will against the Bruins defense and set up Brian Bradley for a boat load of goals. Mike Gartner will have a hard time finding space inside the LA defense which is among the leagues best. Kings in 5 Wester Finals #1 Chicago vs. #2 Vancouver This is the way its suppose to be, the top two seeds fighting it out for the right to play for the cup in the next round. Chicago's all around game with its high powered offense will be able to out trap the Kings who lack the offensive flare the Blackhawks have. LA will need to win low scoring games in order to take this series, but the Hawks are just too powerful in a 7 game series and their defense is too stout. Hawks in 6 Cup Finals #1 Pittsburgh vs. #1 Blackhawks Balance, defense, speed, and scoring ability will all be present in the cup finals. Chicago holds the cards in most of these catagories though as Sergei Fedorov and Russ Courtnall will exercise their will time and time again against Patrick Roy. Pittsburgh will put up a good fight, but in the end they will succumb to the offensive avalanche that the Hawks are capable of. Hawks in 5 Good luck to all and feel free to comment, there is nothing wrong with some debates.
  11. Im willing to conceed the 4 seed. Considering Dmac has little experience online so far,i doubt Boston will have little trouble in taking 3 points in 2 games. If you want to play out the games just to make it formal, that is fine but im willing to conceed either way. As far as the matchup, the next few days are going to be pretty hectic for me. the next best chance i have will be on friday, so just let me know if your available that day, probably in the morning and early afternoon would be good for me.
  12. you just put in your screen name and the password and log in, its like any other instant messenger.
  13. hey dude, your making me look bad because i kind of helped get the ball rolling on getting your butt in the league. all the games are available to play so let people know when your available so they can plan for it and get the games in as soon as possible.
  14. No one saw more goals this season than San Jose Sharks fans, in 56 games there were 531 total goals, 331 by Sharks players. This style of play was able to lead the Sharks into the 5th seed of the playoffs with a 38-15-3 record. The highlight of the season was a 15 game winning streak that catapulted the Sharks into playoff contention, but inconsistent play the rest of the season marred the Sharks ability to content for a top spot in the West. Pierre Turgeon, Mark Recchi, and Jimmy Carson all had incredible seasons to lead the Sharks potent offense. On defense Alexei Gusarov was a huge suprise with a massive offensive production and solid defensive play. Ray Bourque had a mostly up and down system but is among defensive leaders in points and penalty minutes. Tommy Soderstrom epitomized the up and down play of the Sharks the entire season but was able to do just enough to be the anchor in the back for a contending team. The reward for the Sharks is a matchup with Mike Gartner and the Boston Bruins in the first round. The season series was a close one being a 2-1-1 advantage for the Sharks. Both teams feature offense heavy styles and could provide an intriguing matchup that includes a ton of goals. Record: 38-15-3 Goals for: 331 Goals against: 200 PP%: 56.34 PK%: 62.30 Player Stats (goals-assists-points-PIM) Pierre Turgeon (116-80-196-14) Jimmy Carson (107-62-169-16) Mark Recchi (76-67-143-18) Ray Bourque (21-44-65-50) Alexei Gusarov (3-54-57-26) Tommy Soderstrom (0-47-47-0) 69.9% sv. Darius Kasparaitis (2-16-18-8) Terry Yake (3-3-6-0) Brian Bellows (2-3-5-2) Alexei Kasatonov (0-3-3-0) Chris Kontos (1-0-1-0) Darren Puppa (0-0-0-0) 100% sv. Team Notes: -One of only two teams in the league with atleast 3 100 point scorers -Only team in the league with 3 140 point scorers -Only team in the league with 3 75 goal scorers -One of only two teams with 2 100 goal scorers -Pierre Turgeon league leader in assits with 80 -Highest scoring team in the league with 331 goals
  15. sj and la played a 4-1 game, but we logged it at the same time so it just doubled everything. if you could erase both dmitry and ill post a correct version that would be awsome. im sorry again for another logging problem.
  16. its official, i have traded the san jose organization for the quebec organization effective next league. Trade Breakdown: edisaurusrex recieves San Jose Angry Jay recieves Quebec and future considerations
  17. i remember someone wanted the sharks for next season. it might have been the quebec or ottawa manager,i cant remember off the top of my head. if you are still interested in the sharks for next season i will be willing to trade them for either quebec or ottawa.
  18. only people on the dark side use the controller. as soon as i lose SSIG,ill be freaking Luke Skywalker here as the only guy on the good side of the force using the keyboard.
  19. actually lets just play now if you want. i got a headache and i dont feel too swift, but who cares, we both basically have our spots locked in anyway.
  20. ive been around a bit, i just always see you with your away message up so i dont bug you. tomorrow night around 430 pacific is when ill be around next ready to play.
  21. i share addisons opinion but i think round 8 might be a bit too late. if we want to get those top tier players moving around i say the top 3-5 rounds of picks should be put back in the pool and thatll get the talen mixed around a bit while holding onto a 2-3 players from the team that we still use. i dont want to lose my whole starting lineup outside of alexei gusarov. i love my mark recchi and pierre turgeon. ill still lose them in this format, but i wont lose everything atleast.
  22. thank you dmitry. If you still have the save file from that game EricAnthony, go ahead and post it, if not we will have to find each other sometime to redo it. ill be on tonight around 7 or 8 for a short time.
  23. there was one 6-0 game, but not two. so if you could erase one of those dmitry that would be very helpful/
  24. geez, no love for the sharks, all three honorable mentions but no starters. thats the price you pay for balance i guess.
