  1. This pick is incrediby hard to make. Hull/Roenick/Sandstrom or the unorthodox way to pick a goalie just to please my curiousity and see what it would be like to play with a top goalie in a league. Well.. Curiousity killed the cat too. I'm making it double unorthodox and pick Ed Belfour (double meaning Eddie over Roy plus the goalie pick). Also addressing one of my weaknesess for tests.
  2. "EA Sports, it's in the game" -From my perspective, pass shots were being done in NHL Hockey on PC, which was Sega NHL'93 based game (no manual goalie) and equilevant to NHL'94 on Sega. They could be even more wicked than I've seen now from a shorter angle and from farther, they didn't work so well anymore in NHL95 for example. It really gave you a feel for more of a quick wrist shot than anything. -I have seen people whine about rebound goals as well and then go themselves on the next shift and try a pass goal from the center ice, oh they hypocrisy. Which of the goals makes you go more woowoo? At the very moment it's rebound goals, because of how the goalie acts, but if you think outside of the goalie animation, it's a way more realistic goal where you just follow your own shot and play till the end. People don't like things they can't do themselves and it's most commonly new things to them being rejected, but it doesn't mean it's new, pass shots are very oldschool. -Saw also mentions about a gamepad only league, but you have to remember some of us have played since the early days of PC gaming and forcing one to change his controller as of now would be really unfair to learn something like that after 20 years when you've never really been to console gaming that much. But if some people want this, go ahead, I'll just have to skip that one, ain't buyng a gamepad for PC just for this game and learning it all a new. -I'm all in for a league without pass shots if it came to that, but when you wanna play best on best then you want everything to be included and allowed.
  3. If this is an addon and not a replacement for the original goalie control type then I could swap my vote from no to yes. I'm not very keen on having to learn new controls to what I've come to accustomised for years.
  4. The more chance to change my team the better. I vote for that option. =)
  5. I've been sick as of late so not been online much. Getting better now so I'll be on normally from now on. I'll try to be around tomorrow at 7pm (2am here). Saturday: 6am - 5pm Sunday: 2am - 5pm Monday to friday: 2am - 7am + possibly 6pm to 7-8pm
  6. Luckily you don't stumble to stalling that often. I'm fine with dumping the puck if you're protecting a lead and are shorthanded/can't get out of the defensive zone, it's what happens in normal hockey game. Also If the opponent has a real mobile team and is great on forecheck, sure why not try slowplay the offense and take that extra pass or few to get in to offensive zone properly/wait for the opponent to forecheck himself out of position. I can see the lhe latter one being very annoying for very straightforward aggressive type of players, but it's nothing to whine about, all part of the game. My definition for stalling the game is sitting behind your net for a minute or so, not even looking for the pass or opening the game. Also passing backwards and lateral for a minute or few when winning late in the game is iffy, but nothing I can complain about, just bad show of sportsmanship imo. But you can obviously always take records out of important games and show who these people are then if it happens. =) Pausing is mostly new to me as an NA trait. To me it's more of a distraction than anything else, but I guess it can be cultural and should not get offensive about it. But pausing during ongoing play is even worse than stalling in my mind, I can understand real urgent businesses and connection issues and taking your goalie off, but anything else no. It's even worse than stalling the play in my mind. And I'll rather have the chats after the game what was nice, what you didn't like and so on.
  7. Haha, having some start button moments of my own as well from various people (not by FPB even though this is in the thread), some stating you score the gayest goals or general complainments about rebounds and such (and then trying pass from the center slot through 5-hole, oh the hypocracy). I'm hereby stating that if someone does pause out for a break for whatever reason of their own, I won't be taking part in the conversation untill the end of the game, if things look desync I'll take it as an exception. =)
  8. I don't mind if someone benefits from a keeper, thing is it would be win-win. But how it goes will be interesting to see then.
  9. Now that the season is done for me and some others. I have some thoughts about off season already. I'm would be willing to trade all my saves to picks like if someone wants to save 2 guys first round, just giving me his pick from the 2nd round (1st pick) then. Not looking much to save from this team, Richardson & Corson could be the odd men out to be saved. Also obviously player trades possible and if I get something I like, then I might be keeping a save round or few. Bure Gilmour Lebeau Emerson Kovalenko Corson Richardson Weinrich Langway Gusarov Hrudey Healy All in all the season was uphill & downhill. First getting used to higher frame games, then also a completely different gamestyle. But for this team the biggest impact was the change of checking resistance & checking bonus. How I see it's a way bigger change than the good old weight bug fix and changes things a lot more. I'm not sure if I enjoy it, but because of that I'm willing to give it at least one more season to find out with trying to build a proper team for it. A player like Bure even with stickhandling 5 falls down like a fly from a check now. The magical weight number seems to be around 7+ with high stick to be keeping your toddling going on with the changes properly (yes Bure does it sometimes too, but now falls from a check 8 times out of 10), not sure how lightweight Gretzky with stick 6 would handle it.
  10. I'll get my 2 games easily vs Swos, but I have no clue how how to reach Pearate, he was online last weekend for some hours but I couldn't wait him all day.
  11. If required I can provide a hosting site for 10Gb space (php 5.3.3) and MySQL for no cost, no banners and so on. It's also possible to make the dns changes for blitz94.com towards that site so it would show it up. Someone just has to set up the site if they get the files, but I'm confident plabax get the playoff site up as well soon enough.
  12. How to reach you pearate? You're not on AIM. My games left: 2*Swos 2*Pearate
  13. I'm available fairly often like you know, so not getting the games played is not up to me. Games left: 4 games vs Vocally Caged (very inactive as of late, can't seem to find him online at the same time) 2 games vs FPB (Not sure is he finishing his games in Blitz, if he will, we'll get the games played as we are online fairly often) edit: VC reacted fast and contacted me, got those games done. So only 2 games vs FPB left.
  14. I think it affects fast teams more than slower teams, at least that is what I can gather from my experience, but it does happen with short passes to speed 4 players too when playing as a visiting team (sometimes in home too, just not that frequently). I know what you are talking about, sometimes the puck bounces are just ridiculous, but I still gotta trust it evens out in the end. The Blitz off/def maximization also goes against fast low weight players as in Blitz a slower d is better positioned on average being ready to give that punishing hit and with the checking changes to the game it makes it just that much harder than on GDL, as a stick 5 and weight 5 player like Bure just melts like a warm knife to a butter on a hit, toddling is minimized against heavier d (happens mostly only vs B-checks).
  15. I have noticed this and when the puck starts bouncing in your skates it's just frustrating, but you gotta trust that it evens out in the end (you don't notice it happening that often to the opponents though), but when it happens to you, you always feel like the victim there. The team strenghts vary in the original bins and some teams have better values than others, so some teams might not have disadvantages at all. In Blitz and GDL it's like posted below. Blitz has tried to maximize offence/defence values and give some advantage to home where as GDL tries to even out the field completely for all games (it is true in Blitz too in the end, as everyone has home & visitor games). Blitz: Offence 7 (strong, the higher the better 0-7) Defence 0 (strong, the lower the better 0-7) Powerplay 1 (average, higher the better 0-2) Penalty Killing 0 (strong, lower the better 0-2) Home 2 (strong, higher the better 0-2) Away 1 (average, lower the better 0-3, 3 would be brutal) Gdl: Offence 4 Defence 3 Powerplay 1 Penalty Killing 1 Home 1 Away 1 I too like GDL more and from an outsiders view it seems like the more prestigeous league (but let's not take the discussion there as it's mostly opinions). Another thing that affects is that maybe that I'm used to default rosters & physics (also very familiar with wgh bug fix), but changes to checking resistance & checking effectiviness changes the game more than you could think straightforward. In a positive way when you think of realism to the game. The Blitz home/visiting advantages also lean towards realism as at home you tend to have some advantages. There is some controversy there to not take the realism to it's fullest with not having offsides & line changes, but from history point it's understandable. Still a great league though and looking forward to a full season of having my own mark on the team via drafts/trades in the offseason.
  16. Changed my #3 & #4 defenseman vice verse.
  17. Well, I can do the lines & players to all teams like today if that helps. Just no experience with the jerseys/banners so that has to be done by someone else. I need to change my lines a bit anyways from my posted ones.
