    Very cool DaDonch, hopefully this doesn't turn into a huge slop-fest of colors from people picking team logos with different uniform sets of vice versa.

    Maybe we should try and stay consistent in using the matching logo/uniform set from whichever one everyone selects before it starts looking really bush league...

    If you could do the current Flames logo and uniforms for me, it would be much obliged.

    And I was really close in wanting to say yes- I think these are two guys that would add credibility to the GDL based on their reputation, committedness and class.

    I'm almost tempted to change my vote the more I think about it. As HABS mentioned, the talent pool wasn't as bad as he thought it would be when the league had 24 teams last season.

    Would it be absolutely terrible with 26 (for sake of discussion)?

    I mean, the list of players for this league is getting pretty thick with regulars, as oppose to the past when it was some regulars, sprinkled in with new guys. The more I look at the league players, the less I think there will be people dropping out (although I guess this can't ever be said with certainty).

    Haven't voted yet.

    So would the amount of non-snaking rounds in the hybrid draft be cut down to 2? Am in favor of voting whichever method deemed to bring the most fairness to the league...

    The non-playoff teams should be drafting ahead of the playoff teams- there should not, however, be such a huge advantage for the non-playoff team selecting first vs. the non-playoff team selecting eight. That gap needs to be closer in allowing all non-playoff teams to somewhat improve, not just one or two of them.

    Well the thing is that when I was looking around for the offsets for my program it was called "Boarding" on the forums by whoever listed the offsets for 94, I guess to differentiate between the two penalties. So thats why I have been calling it that.

    There is only a certain amount of letters that you can use when naming the penalites in NOSE, I think 16 (Interference is 12, Fight_Instigator is 16). So we you wanted to change it to "Injuring" or something else thats fine with me. :angry:

    Possibly Attempt_Injure? (14)

  14. Polls, Returning Owners Thread, Signups

    Thanks Jamonica! I don't want to sound like a politician or anything, but I think everyone involved in the league deserves it. The group we have is fantastic. Plus, Dmitry has done so much for this league and put so much time and effort into creating and maintaining the database and starting up this league, so I really didn't want to see it go to waste and disappear. Obviously, by the show of interest we have had, this league is one of the most popular in the community.

    But I am really enjoying setting everything up so far.:angry:

    Agreed. Certainly looks like it could be the most successful GDL league season yet and you're leading the charge!

  15. Polls, Returning Owners Thread, Signups

    Just to let everyone know,

    I'm going to set the deadlines for all the Polls, Signups, and the Returning Owners to respond at

    October 22nd at 12:00 AM (Midnight) EST.

    -This leaves just under 5 days for people to express their vote with a POST, allows other new guys to signup, and the couple of returning guys who have not answered to try to respond.

    -I figured move it to that day and time to give everyone the weekend when it might not be as hectic.

    -At that time, I will set up the final Owner List and assign teams to anyone who currently does not have one. (I will ask individuals for choices if theirs is taken)

    -I will also count up the votes that were made with a post (not the numbers at the top of the poll, because I don't know who voted and who did not.) and release the results.

    -Anyone who signs up after this time, will be moved directly to the Waiting List.

    -Any returning owners who don't respond by the deadline and do want to play, will be moved to the END of the Waiting List.

    Thanks 'Doncher for all of your hard work and initiative in getting this thing going/organized. You have done an outstanding job thus far in my opinion. Keep it up!

    It just might be nice to have another well-run league (with the help of this website) for players who might want a little more additional league action. As we get further into Fall, there will be other options I think for some: Genesis Draft League, Genesis Elite League, the league that Logan is working on, Genesis '91 League, etc.

    I really don't know if this idea would ever get off the ground with so many other leagues going on as well, just interested in seeing if players want to use updated rosters and teams in league play.

  25. What hockey needs

    I wouldn't like to see 4 on 4 all game, but I'd like to see it used instead of shootouts.

    3 on 3 hockey is closer to real hockey and a better way to settle things than a shootout, which is not real hockey by any stretch of the imagination.

    After a few years, I'm still not sold on the shootout. I enjoy casually watching all-world players take breakaways against all-world netminders, but the shootout is a silly way to decide a game when points are on the line.

    Would much rather see them go to 3 on 3 after 5 minutes of 4 on 4 than going to the shootout.
