  1. In SNES Puck Dynasty, I was playing someone whose Hamachi kept going yellow every 5 minutes or so, which shuts off your connection with each other. In SNES, the game pauses, not desynchs and you can save states real easy, so we didn't have to keep starting over, as you would have had to in GENS, but were able to just re-load from the stopped spot. We were able to finish our 4 games in like 8 blocks. Slightly aggravating but livable. In Gens, it would have been a game over, play another night type thing. The odd part was he had to keep updating or doing something with his Hamachi software to get it to start up again. I didn't do anything on my end for any of the changes, so I'm not sure what he was doing, but I'd assumed the error was also on his end since he was able to fix it. Perhaps, I could have been doing the same thing on my end to stop the yellow whenever it happened, not exactly sure. Also, I don't know if that helps anyone figure out what happens there, or stop it from happening, but figure I'd "report the incident".
  2. And ONLY one guy needs to be setup for the direct connect, the host guy, if I remember correctly. But, to connect back for the other teams home games, you would need them setup for direct connect as well, with the firewalls disabled, and the Static IP/Router setup properly, if I'm correct. So, if the guy you are having issues connecting w/ is a computer idiot, at least get in half your games.
  3. Last night, I was unable to play Probob, as we had just the worst Hamachi connection. 2 minutes later, I was able to play Jer33 w/ NO issues. No lag, banged out 4 games w/ no desynchs. Some nights, it seems Hamachi just doesn't want two guys to play. That direct connect wasn't so easy for me. I tried a few times and failed, and got half way through router settings to have static IP addresses, etc, and gave up on it. BUT, back then, I was using wireless connection, and not plugging directly into my router. Once I heard I could stop having desynchs by plugging in directly, I stopped trying to reconfigure my computer to do the direct connect. I'm not sure if the fact that I was also wireless was adding an additional level of complications to using direct connect over Hamachi or not.
  4. It goes in almost 100% in the '93 version, which I've been playing recently, so perhaps I'm mentally still angry about that and applying those memories over to '94. I think there is JUST enough time to grab the goalie, and a vet who has played as many games as you have would probably always get the goalie in time to stop it from going through. I know the first time someone did it to me, I did not switch & it went right through. You could test it if you really wanted to. I've found if I don't grab the goalie, it goes through his legs. The ones of to the left or right side of the goalie down' go through his legs, as they HIT his legs/pads/gloves. It's not like you get a ton of opportunities to be at mid ice with a straight line from you to the goalie, minus a break away, where the other player is preparing to grab the goalie already anyhow.
  5. I have no idea about a schedule, logging games, who makes playoffs, who doesn't, how many home/road games, etc. Also, no deadline knowledge either, but that rarely applies to me.
  6. I still can't login. Can't remember my password. Mentioned to you about resetting my password. AIM after it's done. Able to get Blitz exhibs against Raph, so my Blues vacated together is all good to go.
  7. To me, the biggest bug I hate more than anything is the "pass shot" through the goalie legs from half ice, blue line type thing. You see it WAY more in GENS, as the goalie delay switch can make it difficult to get to it. Basically, if you don't control the goalie from dead on, that pass shot goes in a very high percentage. I can rate how bad a bug is by this: If we were playing on a console in the same room, how many of your own teeth would you be counting if you did that "bug" against me?? The pass shot ranks ahead of the get up as I knock you out, but not very far. A weight bug to me is just a change in play style, and not that bad. You can use it as a KNOCK against the actual game comparisons, but its quite playable, and some can even find it to add an wrinkle to the strategy.
  8. Bill Masterton Trophy -> Coach Mac Frank J Selke Trophy -> Mav for doing a great job of dodging (defending) his games. You are an a-hole & I hate you.
  9. Side note, I liked how Raph was able to adjust his lineup after having played some games. Think it was a neat thing and a bonus feature to a guy for being a replacement coach. I think having a 1st & 2nd half with mid-season trading & drop/adds would be a nice feature. Plus, gets you to play your opponent more and have more than 1 night of games against a dude. Like, I played Raph a month ago with a different roster, and now I'm in the finals playing a team I've not seen before, or a style. To me, that'd be a better "season", imo. BUT EITHER WAY, 100% GREAT JOB MAC. I think you did a great job AGAIN as a commish. Love playing in your leagues. Feel you get things setup on time, follow through with schedules, and make adjustments as needed.
  10. Good series Raph. Fun to watch the videos, and see the turning points in the games. Definitely got the better of me, and a well earned trophy. Game 1, felt the turning point was end of the second, when I blew a goal w/ Chiason that I normally score, and Raph went right back, and popped in a goal, making it 8-5, instead of 7-6 and then gets a B shot from half ice. Game 2 losing Iafrate in a fight for the game is just dumb. Cost me big in the 3rd period as Fedorov skates by his backup off the face off for the game winning goal. Game 3, it's a tight game, and I miss a few in a row that are score-able goals in '93, and then take Iafrate in to try to get that goal finally, only to get stripped and left my backend wide open to Raph's Gartner or Fedorov break away. Next goal is a B shot from half ice, and I'm done for the game. Good series Raph. Congrats again.
  11. I'll take the Blues. Witty's team looks nice, but can't resist having a season w/ Lindros.
  12. Chicago 3 games, Toronto 0. Scores 7-6, 14-3 & 8-7 (OT). Good games. Had a few desynchs, which ruined the fun of the series, but still well played. Game 1 was 7-3 mid third when Kelly Buchberger & his fat, speed 40 butt ran off a hat trick in less than a minute & 1/2 to make it a 7-6 tight finish. Game 2 was a blow out from the beginning, and was 9-0 at one point. Jer's credit for fighting back in 3rd period, and getting 3 goals. Game 3 was 1-1 end of 1st, then desynched, replayed, 4-4 end of 1st in second go round. Lots of action, tied up at 7 late, and I failed to score a few buzzer shots to end it. Oddly, before OT even started, we had desynched, so I'm playing computer not realizing, skate in for opening faceoff breakaway with Cam Neely, only to hit a post. Shortly after that I realize Jer's not moving, and we restarted the game with 1st goal being the OT winner. Roy actually made a nice save in OT and we went back to ice the series. AND, speaking of ROY, WORST GOAL EVER I'VE SEEN IN '93. Back hand shot from almost his redline, accidental style and it goes in right over Roy.
  13. I'm only a waiting lister, but MAV is a straight a-hole. Told him that myself numerous times. Joined the '93 league & has completely douched it out since then. If he's in the Blitz package, feel free to drop my off that list (maybe be an easy way to get rid of me!!!)
  14. GENS guys averaging 4-5 posts a game when we venture over to your side of the bed and play SNES.
  15. There is a set of moves that work a high percentage of times in the GENS that do not work in SNES, and one of the most common results of these failed SNES attempts is a hit post. I think because of this, GENS players tend to "post" more about "posts" than SNES guys experience, and while I can't statistically verify it to date, I'd bet "us" GENS guys average closer to 4-5 posts a game at a minimum. Great points however about the realistic puck bounces off the posts in SNES and the vacuum effect during a GENS game. I actually get MAD if I don't get my suction action during a game but on hind site, it is kind of whack, and I'd have to concede it as a point to you for this discussion's merit.
  16. I think weight, agility & then speed still play the biggest roles in SNES. I'm new to SNES, and still kind of suck, imo, but regularly beat or play with the other teams because my team in Puck Dynasty is BIG, FAST & AGILE. (And by beat, I mean even win 1 out of 4, and play with, I mean lose 4-3, 6-5 type thing against opponents whom in Classic I'd lose 8-2 all day). Shot accuracy for a scoring center with a team that knows how to use it, or good shot power on a scoring defenseman can lead to an extra goal or two a game, but if rating attributes for each player overall, I still feel those are the ones that matter. Oh, and puck control gets a low rating unless you've tried to take someone without it through a zone in a game where half the computer dudes are always trying to hold you!
  17. I 100% agree that SNES players don't even KNOW half the attributes. They KNOW all the players and who they do good with. In Gens, both Klima & Turgeon just have a way to slide in front of the net almost perfectly 4-5 times a game with a good player, and play several skill levels ahead of their appeared rating. I think this type of "analysis" is more the norm for SNES players, who know which guys fit their systems, and like you highlighted, you can play without noticing a big difference on a few subs. In the GENS game, if you don't sub & take Philly, you just get CRUSHED. If you sub all the correct light weight guys, you are going to give everyone a battle. So, to me, I've noticed that most guys sub in one guy who can either shoot & is heavy or one speed guy into a lineup, and then play, when doing Classic for SNES. No major lineup overhauls. During the recent Puck Dynasty Auction for SNES, I had the feeling guys didn't even know what attributes they should be trying to buy, so they were just bidding on the names they knew.
  18. Guys, I'm 1000% in agreement that Raph is bud/dude of the year, whatever, and a welcomed addition to any league, and in this case, an already vital existing member. Cool cat who put a lot of effort into the '94 site and that Blitz league. Preciously that is probably why someone who cares about how things are done would not want to cross with someone, who in their opinion, does not. And, this a league that's already done roll call more than once, so I think actually showing a working site, league, etc would probably be a better point of focus over whether or not Raph is there at the start. In fact, if it helps, I'd be happy to be a temporary sub until he changes his mind & comes back. At which point and time, I'd return to my spot on the waiting list for the following season. If that doesn't help anyone, I'm ok w/ resuming my spot on the wait list.
  19. Penalty shots really highlight how gay the goalie is in SNES though.
  20. SNES '94 Yeah, I've got a 40 Def awareness Left Defensemen in Puck Dynasty that, on faceoff as noted by BOK, skates off to the right side, even pushing the other defender out of position, both ending up against the wall, and creating a landing pad in front of my goalie for anyone who wants to come in. More times than not, I'm able to use the L or R button to grab one of the two clowns & correct it before it becomes a goal. And, I also agree w/ BOK, that I find the hard checking matches to be entertaining. I've also found that the faster teams, aka Vancouver, can find spots to run & hide & move the puck along, and avoid the uber check fests. That kind of alludes more to Northway's reference of puzzle solving in SNES, which becomes necessary to avoid a monster mash style bloody middle of the ice.
  21. I actually do not know anyone who has played '93 on both systems. Maybe something to do over the holiday weekend to compare. As far as weight bugs, I think I'm right in saying this: No weight bug ever in SNES. GENS weight bug appeared in '93. I could be wrong about the '92 part, but I do recall Stevens PLOWING everyone in '92 and suddenly bouncing off Roenick in '93.
  22. Best way to state it would be there are more d&ckheads like you in Gens, and almost by not having the "you's" in SNES, appear to be Uber cool to someone like me. And, they've got Halifax, who is universally excepted as one cool "bud" by everyone. A hockey gamer is not a video gamer though, imo. Since you are the primary type of guy I'm referring to, it's clear WHY you wouldn't get the difference. Nice analysis of the two systems though. Trud, for the goalie issue, the instant switch is nice if you like that option (which I don't), but the goalie control absolutely blows in SNES. IN Gens, when you have the goalie, you do feel like you are controlling a goalie, and in SNES, it feels like a graphic block that moves left & right more like a pong stick. There's a memory flash. PONG. Again, even if I liked the instant switch, I definitely would still give a big edge to GENS on the goalie issue, and then toss in the goalie penalty cheapness, and it's a no brainer.
  23. I don't remember where, but I think I was on the waiting list. I'd be down for some Blitz if my name pops up.
  24. You are 100% right about the technical side. GENS desynch often & more often w/ having to exit just to switch sides. SNES allows typing IN GAME. I was more talking console to console style. Emulator wise, SNES destroys GENS, like 98 score to like 48. The only reason GENS emulator is even acceptable is it is THE ONLY way to effectively play that maddeningly sweet NHL94 video heaven without having your friends over to the house. My comments about GENS being smoother relate more to the actual play once the game is flowing evenly without lag, etc. Love the painting art references. Definitely some really creative GENS players, found out first hand in GDL. And, the goalie delay is actually something I like in GENS. Adds more strategy and relieves the cheapest SNES move of grabbing the goalie and ramming the opposition to get a penalty!
