  1. Stumbled on this site looking for player ratings for NHL 95 for the drunk tourneys we do a few times a year. Turns out there is a lotta love for the nhl series. Also found another site called unholygrail which was another 95 drunk tourney so I decided to post my stuff on a website too. Love this site and find myself visiting it too often. I think this next season I will try my hand in at a nhl94 online league so I can totally be immersed in this site.
  2. Great points Hullie. I definetly agree with them. Another reason why 94 is so big is that 95-98 are a pain in the butt to play online, they desync a lot and play a lot faster so you may have choppier game play.
  3. Thanks for the kind words. I better start charging admission to my tourneys with reviews like that. I see your point on depleting the pool of players. But I would not mind having a little worse team this first year. Maybe jumping in on the draft at a later round. I am like a division 1AA team in college football, don't have as many scholarships, if that analogy works. Just a thought.
  4. I too would like to hijack halifax's thread and bid myself segathon as a possible expansion city/player/team thingy. I have nhl nerd cred with the offline tourneys I run over at www.segathon.com. Plus I have been a member at this site for a while now. Don't mind if I lose a lot and I too think the draft is one of the most fun parts of this league. My skill set is nhl 95 based so I should take my licks early on. Thanks for hearing me out,
  5. I'd be interested. I just started playing the 07 version and liked it a lot.
  6. Good to see someone picked this up this project again. If you do a search I think there is some post on an 06 and 07 NCAA rom that was never completed. I would suggest putting as many WCHA teams as you can, but that is the homer in me talking. Eventhough the goalies normally do stink at the collegate level, I think if lessened the skill down of the goalies too much it could turn into too much scoring. I love the Mack hacks/SWOS 07 version alot. I would go off that for skills ratings. Also since you are not doing real players but trying to mirror teams, maybe on some of the teams make them very lopsided. Here comes the Brainstorm! Such as Great Defensive team with no offense and vice versa. Also you could make a team that has a few great players and the rest very poor. Maybe a raw talent team with speed and agility but no shooting accuracy, awareness or stick handling A team that is heavy, slow, low endurance but great Slappers and awareness. Scoring defensemen and defensive wingers A goon team with high checking and aggressiveness etc, etc But of course these are just suggestions and you are doing all the work, so do what you thinks best.
  7. Thanks Clockwise. Love the info on the button pushing and desyncing. Very good to know.
  8. Thanks for the info clockwise. We are having some troubles doing a 95 league with desyncing. It's kind of hit and miss. Do you have any other tips to prevent desyncing? Looks like bypassing the router if you can will help if that seems to be one of ther reasons.
  9. Good to know. We are also thinking of doing trades in the league. I know that we would have to rerelease the roms. But is the easiest way to do a trade just edit the two players you are trading to their corrisponding traits? Thanks
  10. I have been playing a rom NHL95.smd is there any difference between that and NHL95.bin. Can you edit smd files like bin files? Does it work in NOSE? Thanks,
  11. Just an outsiders point on the draft thing so just erase me if you like, but I love DaDonche program but it definetly throws a pretty big mix up even with small percentages differences. When my buds and I used it, we do the NBA loto rules in which we just take the first 3 from the program and then everyone else falls in line from previos record. Otherwise some of the bottom dwellers got some pretty weak picks.
  12. Can you guys reccomend a good midwest server? Doing a little league over at chicago cyber hockey and we are mostly based in Illinois/Minnesota. Also I am on DSL and I am around 34 mms or whatever that's called in Kallerina. Is that fast enough for online play? I played a couple games and it seemed fine but the other player said it was kinda laggy. He is used to xbox live though so I am not sure if it's really laggy or he's comparing apples to oranges.
  13. LOVE IT! Good choice with the red theme. It's like the bizarro 94 site. Plus you have a lot of extra's like how to score etc. Just a great site.
  14. Holy crap indeed. I would watch out Tony, the goverment might kidnap you to break codes like that little kid in the bruce willis movie
  15. That is crazy! Small world is right. The last tourney Pat attended he flew in that night and left early in the morning without sleeping. I am surprised they let him on the plane.
  16. Why thank you. if you want to see some more drunken nerdiness go to www.segathon.com We just got done with a tournement a couple weeks ago and my liver still hurts.
  17. Forgot Dusty Diamond's All-Star Softball for the NES. That is another great game
  18. NES Gameboy n64 Sega CD PS1 PS2 And 3 Sega Genesis for when we hold nhl tourneys. (one's missing it's faceplate as I removed it, spraypainted it gold, and now is the belt when you win segathon) I am glad I held on to all of them. Always fun to crack them out when people are over.
  19. Sorry I can't help you out, has not happened to me. Try searching the general 94 board, normally the problems with set up with 95 are the same as 94.
  20. You can mod it just like the other nhl's, Mack has a hack on his website that's pretty cool. Couple other people have updated the rosters too. See this thread for a couple downloads mods
  21. Super Tecmobowl and Baseball Stars for the NES are up there. But they are 8 bit.
  22. Things I do to make it a little tougher, is don't do the easy goals like accross the crease. I also lay off the c button on defense since the computer is not that great at dodging checks.
  23. TORONTO -- It took only one look for voters to pick this year's class of Hockey Hall of Famers. Mark Messier, Ron Francis, Al MacInnis, and Scott Stevens all were elected in their first year of eligibility.
  24. I remember that article, they also had one in my local paper about that and cited that our MN Gopher Basketball team played NHL on the genesis on road trips rather than NBA version. And I know this is a 94 board, but you guys are hate mongers on 95. 95's a great game. If you are gonna rip on 16 bit hockey games, rip on Brett Hull Hockey or that Horrible Rollerblade game they released back in the day.
