  1. Don't lynch me boys, i'm just more of a sim fan than an arcade fan, and the argument that 09 is more of a sim feel than 94 is one you can't argue with.

Yeah i'm pretty final about it, but to be less dramatic let's just go with I will not be playing in any leagues. By all means hit me up for an exh if you see me online, I might be in the mood, but no promises.

And the drugs I smoke are far from serious, thank you very much.

  2. Absolutely zero interest in playing NHL 94 anymore, 09 has bested it in my books. Any leagues that I am in can replace me ASAP.

As for FVHL I'll help with the background stuff but i'm leaving all the big decisions to Shifty, i'm confident he can run it just fine.

  3. I've got a few problems with be a pro. First off the be-a-pro camera can get annoying sometimes, but mostly I am not a fan of it on offense as I have a hard time seeing where my teammates are some times. If I switch to Classic view or something, then on defense I can't see well enough. As well sometimes the management makes questionable decisions, as does the A.I.

Overall though it's a fantastic mode, the small setbacks hardly kill the experience at all.

  4. I'm enjoying Be a Pro mode immensely. Decided to go with a sniper on superstar difficulty since I had played 08, and it's great fun. Took me 16 or so games on Providence before I cracked the Bruins roster (randomized my team), and it felt very rewarding.

Heh, I pulled a Lemieux though. First shift, got a breakaway, and on that first shot, it went off the crossbar and in. Still lost in OT, but it was good.

As for assists, I had trouble with it as first but it's not too hard when you get the hang of it. I find it better to pass it to the guy and just let him shoot it, don't call for the shot. They score a lot more this way (the AI is pretty good at shooting if you let them do it themselves)

Honestly I like it better than 94. It's crazy fun and despite a few bugs the games very balanced a polished.

Pick the damn game up, it's a great buy.

  5. Smoz is on to something here in terms of that. I'll hit you up on AIM.

As for finishing the season, i'm all for it, I just wanted to see how the coaches felt. I talked to some and they didn't mind restarting, and some of them were in good playoff position. I'll just have to get replacements firstly.

Although strictly speaking I think a full redraft after this season would be the best way to go. A lot of the players aren't going to be the same anymore.

  6. If you haven't yet heard of smoz's amazing fix of the weight bug, check it out,

    http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?showtopic...=weight+bug+fix

Anyways, fixing the weight bug is something I wanted FVHL to have from the get go but unfortunately there was no good way to do it. Now that there IS a way to do it, this is something I want in the league ASAP as it makes the game play the way it was meant to be played, where Lindros is no longer a pansy and Roenick is no longer an unstoppable killing machine.

So here is my proposition to you fine coaches:

A complete reboot of the rosters. A full redraft with the weight bug fixed and then the season starts. Now I want to state very very vehemently that I want this in 100% and although support would be appreciated, I'm basically going to go through with it unless EVERYBODY hates the idea. Now, I understand that the issue that will piss people off is:

"But I spent this whole time building my team and I have it just the way I like it now!"

Yeah, I know. It's unfortunate, but you can rebuild your team, it's not the end of the world. I just want to hear your guys' opinions on this.

Now the other part. We have a bit of a season left and playoffs to go through. Personally, I just want to start completely from scratch. After all, to keep stats accurate we couldn't include this season's stats with all the season after with the weight bug fixed. I know it seems like the whole season was a waste then, but trust me, it helped me figure out all the problems with running a league and fixes for them.

Let me know what you guys think.

  7. Oh and for the record, coaches that have checked in:

    Me

    Shifty

    IceStorm

    Sebe

    Hokkee

    Shaftman

    Wags

    HABS

I'm talking about the returning coaches, of course. That's 50% of the league, which is good. Hopefully the other coaches follow suit soon. I'll be trying to contact those who have not checked in.

  8. I always use the new controls, I find using the right stick for shooting/deking works out very well. As for lifting the stick, it works, you just have to use it right. It's not as good as a poke check anyways, or a block pass, but i HAVE used it to cause a d-man to miss a puck and let me go in on a breakaway.

It's a great game, it just takes a bit of getting used to. As for goalie mode and whatnot, it's a demo and a ton of features aren't in it.

  9. Firstly, guys that are active, the games (as far as I know, nothing should have changed during the summer hiatus) are still up and can be uploaded, so if you find a coach, go ahead and play some games. I'll be available for games soon, I just gotta play a few games to get back into form B).

  10. Alright, I'm back from summer and it's time to get this show back on the road. I need all coaches who are willing to put in the effort to be active again to check in, just post in this topic. Once I have that figured out, I'll replace the inactive coaches and then we'll finish the season+playoffs. Depending on how many coaches get replaced, we may need to do a roster readjustment, but no worries, if you are a returning coach in season 2, you get to keep your team. The adjustment will be to help the newcomers who will probably not like the team they get stuck with.

  11. I picked up the demo for 09 on the 360 yesterday and I'm pretty impressed. Defensive aspect has been polished up nicely, it's harder to get the offense rolling than 08, and it seems those lame money goals have been fixed (the whole go left shoot top right from far away was so ridiculous). Posts have been toned down, you'll miss the net now rather than hit 50 posts a period. Although someone in here had a point, the checking is a bit crazy with small guys being able to absolutely lay people out, HOWEVER this isn't a big deal as you can adjust it with a slider and tone it down. Be a Pro is very fun and the camera works well, I expect to probably be into my third season on that within a week :).

Ultimately I think it's a significant improvement over 08 and when it gets released I'll pick it up. I will then let you guys know what I think of the finished product, but I don't expect to be let down much, assuming online works well

  12. After comin back from a basically 2 week long camping trip and seeing 1 or 2 more games played since I left, i'm very dissapointed. Summers are painfully slow, everybody would rather be out fishing than playing video games, and i'm one of them unfortunately.
