  1. I voted for boston lol But maybe its not
  2. It's a very easy place to get to. Non-stop flights from almost any major airport.
  3. Hey Guys, halifax and I are just waiting to hear back on a couple small items before we say what our plan is. But the wait will be worth it. I wanted to at least say it was in the US so any "foreigners" can get passports if needed. But I promise by next Friday night the whole details will be released.
  4. Yes we are hoping. The film is planned to be done in the summer, So that gives lots of time for wiggle room. Now I feel bad because that's an even more amazing plan!!! KO94 III Maybe lol
  5. OMG DID YOU LOOK AT HIS WIKI PAGE!! "After he retired as a hockey player, Caufield made a brief appearance as the Penguins' goalie, Brad Tolliver, in the hockey-themed action film Sudden Death" Amazing
  6. Check out this live video I did from my Facebook Page http://www.facebook.com/MikeyMcBryan/videos/1200376453389849/
  7. Hey Brutus! Thanks for the idea. I was thinking of doing that but decided against it because of story flow. What you are referring to is a 4th wall break. Other examples are Farris Bueller's Day off, Flight Club, any Mel Brooks film and Deadpool. That story device works best when you have cheeky main character in a fictional comedy. Stopping the flow of the movie to remind the audience they are watching a movie. Works amazing for those films but not so much in this, as the purpose is to immerse the audience. Keep the movie flowing. It's tough but we are working on it. We got 90 mins to tell the full story so I'm stuck to about 30-45 seconds to explain little things in a dynamic way. But saying all this there is one point (maybe twice) in the movie where I do break the 4th wall. For emotional reasons not so much educational.
  8. It's traditional (So far), no narrator. The character interviews drive the story visuals when they need context. That being said my interviews do help in a big way to do that. We are not set in stone yet, some elements can still change.
  9. Hey Guys, Almost wrapped the 3rd week of editing. We have two bonus days (Mon/Tues). The editor and I have spent most of our time cutting smaller scenes together. Now with only a few small scenes left to go, we have started piecing the movie together. This is what is called the "rough cut" and is a very big step! The flow of the movie so far is a lot more fast paced as I first thought. This is good news because some stuff that is scheduled to possibly be cut may not have to be. There is a few cool twists and turns in how things worked out, which adds some cool story elements. You will defiantly have to watch the movie at least twice to catch all the hidden messages. The one praise I say over and over is "if I have never heard of a Sega Genesis (or Hockey), would this make sense to me". For example, "One Timers" means nothing to someone who has never watched hockey. So the phrase "I love one timers" sounds like a dude that likes having one night stands lol. So I have to make sure I show a one timer or group that slang into context or I risk constantly explaining things to the audience and waste screen time. Anyways that's my week 3 ramble. Thanks for listening M
  10. Halifax and I have been working in secret trying to pull together the most epic retro sports tourney ever. We can't release any details yet as they are still not set in stone. We wanted to let you guys know it is happening! It will be fall 2017 and it's going to be HUGE Sign up to get your name on the mailing list to be the first to get more news as it comes out!
  11. Hey Smoz, When I'm less busy Let's talk. Lesser in his interview explains the benefit of using the S-Probe over Software Emulation. He explains why Hardware emulation is better. Of course this stuff is way over my head. He hints at the fact that having the full source code may not be necessary needed.
  12. Hey Smoz, What benefit would the S-probe have over software emulation? Once the source code is "found"?
  13. On his website, he offers Sega Gens coding tips and tricks bigevilcorporation.co.uk/
  14. I'm not even close to being an expert but the S-Probe is one piece of the puzzle. With Skills and the right development program one can start reverse engineering the code. Every tool/asset/program that made NHL '94 is out there it just has to be found.
  15. Have you guys seen this? http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/63454976/tanglewood-an-original-game-for-the-sega-genesis-m?ref=profile_starred I have been following Matt Phillips on Social Media and he has a video on YouTube showing how he is using a Mega Drive Dev Kit to make this game!! Crazy amount of work!! Check this youtube video. In the comments, he says he has the NHL '94 Holy Grail an EA S-Probe Dev Kit.... You know what that means eh lol! This guy is the real deal! Amazing.
  16. HOLY SMOKES! I'm just seeing this now AWESOME!
  17. The filmmakers did what they had to do to tell the story. In real life there are no real bad guys, everyone is just trying to do what they think is right, its all relative. If they made a movie about the history of Donkey Kong then they would be in the wrong. But they made a movie about one man's journey to be the best at something and from his perspective Billy was the villain. Just like any sports match up "I hate those F**king Red Wings, Go Maple Leafs!" They made the right choice and everyone in that film is now way better off and they are all friends in real life. Side note, check out the homemade doc "King of CON" it's out to prove that King of Kong was all a hoax, it's pretty good for what it is. But it made me an even bigger fan of the original movie lol
  18. Something interesting to do is go play the ROM of Madden '92 Link provided and note the similarities to NHL Hockey (NHL 92) on Gens http://play.emuparadise.me/playonline/Genesis/John_Madden_Football_'92_(USA,_Europe)/38505
  19. Hey BK, Ya, I bought both Nibbler and Nintendo Quest the days they came out seen each a few times. Also "Atari Game Over", "Indie Game" "Indie Game Afterlife" and even the 6 hour Smash Bros online doc lol (There are a handful of others as well). The Hockey Docs are amazing as well "The Last Gladiators", "Red Army" and "Boys on the Bus". Also, side note check out "The Resurrection of Jake the Snake" LOVED IT. By far the best is King of Kong, having two awesome characters and interaction between Billy and Steve was priceless. The reason I believe King of Kong was so good is because it was more than a video game movie it was a story of an underdog trying to prove himself and that's why it had a broader audience. Donkey Kong was more of a plot device than the topic. I will be going in a little bit of another direction with PH then the above movies but I'll use the elements I enjoyed from each.
  20. Today I'm writing what is called a paper edit for the film. a Paper edit is basically a handwritten outline for the film that the editor uses to guide himself. It is useful so he/she can work alone and not have someone breathing down their neck. My question is... How interested would you guys be in knowing more about the link between Madden Football and the origin of the NHL series from a designer standpoint. The reason I'm asking this is that 80% of the history of what became NHL '94 is directly linked to Madden. *Also flash forward to today's events, I got an invite to visit the Madden head quarters in Florida (I will be down there for other work in February). It would be perfect opportunity to give that story a little depth and interview the main guy today for Madden who is a HUGE NHL '94 fan. I'll most likely delete this post after a few days so let me know.
  21. Fair Use in Canada is a lot harder to get away with than in the US. Miramax owns the rights... so it may be a little expensive. But I do have some ideas
